Their plenty of parking and good restroom facilities on sight. The best part of this park is definitely the open space and hills and such. They still offer swimming lessons during the summer. A couple of the kids had a minor accident and she made sure to go out of her way checking in on the kids asking if we needed anything and even offering ice packs. The dogs that were there that day were quite friendly and no one seemed to mind. There were two pavilion areas towards the left of the park which were well shaded where parties can be hosted. The park is small but has what is needed. There are BBQ areas and picnic tables as well as some grass and a small playground. There is also some parking available in a lot but you can also park on the street. The playground is fenced in which I really liked but it also has to be fenced in because this park is right on the street, and it's a busy one with a lot of speeders. I was very aware of the closure to the playground ensuring everyone who came and went closed it behind them and if not going to it immediately to make sure it got closed. The playground equipment is small but had some slides the kids liked and a few swings. There are also 2 stationary play cars my boys loved so much. Although the boys had fun here we won't come back because of how close this is to the road. If we aren't in the playground area and we wanted to have a picnic it would be a constant worry and I wouldn't be able to let me kids get more than an arms reach away from me. There are better parks to go to.

The reason we come the most is for the playground and I love this little playground. It is never full and the structure isn't huge which means my toddlers can be more independent on it and I can sittervise more often. There is also space between the structure and the swings and overall it isn't cramped. There is only one structure so there isn't anything separate for toddlers and big kids but sharing the space has never been a problem here. I also really love the ground of this playground which is the bouncy track like substance and not woodchips or sand! That is such a huge perk for me. Overall, we love it here and will continue to keep this park in our rotation.

So I can see how this would be a great spot to take a break while visiting at the hospital. It has a dry creek-bed running the length of the park. Theres a huge rock mound to practice your bouldering skills, elegant wind-chimes/musical instruments for kids or adults alike to play and lots of different areas to picnic. There is even an herb garden for kids to learn the different kinds like lavender, white sage etc. There is lots of lush green grass amongst trees. It really doesn't feel like you are right next to a freeway or busy shopping center AT ALL. You almost feel a world away. Love this park!

Went back to the park proper, made a left towards YMCA and recognized the blue, green painted courts below eye level parallel to the freeway. Almost went to Big Rock in Santee this morning which has eight dedicated pickleball courts but more players. La Mesita on the other hand, has the same number of pickleball courts, four of which are newly resurfaced. They have a smaller crowd which means shorter wait times, some good shade, but adds four miles to my drive - a small price to pay to feed my quasi-addiction. It only took 2.5 hours to meet my minimum daily game quota of four challenging matches and I didn't encounter any aggro ball smashers. This is the ninth East County pickleball venue I have played at and can easily become one of my favorites.
