There are bathrooms and street side parking here. Although bathrooms are still labeled as men's and women's they are individual bathrooms labeled as such with a. Communal sink. Somewhat non binary arrangements.
No one spoke English here but I used google translate and we figured it out for the most part. I wish I could rate this 3.5 stars. The food was okay, but it was odd that the manager came out and personally talked to every table but the one I was at with my parents. We were told we could not share dishes (my mom and I typically split a main dish), although others around us were sharing dishes. So I was a bit frustrated with that.
The chicken, as I read along with the duck, is the main event here. There is a cool fire going with a spit roasting the chicken and duck. I had the 1/4 chicken and it comes with a side choice of fries, mashed potatoes, or side salad. The chicken thigh I got was decently tasty- albeit a bit over seasoned. I love me some rosemary, but the out a bit too much and it was overpowering in certain bites. I had mom mom's chicken breast (which was substantially more meat despite it being the same 1/4 amount as myself) but the meat was very dry and and the skin was tough. The fries were good, and the best was my mom's mashed potatoes. Very rich and delicious. Gravy was bit salty.
My dad got the angus beef. It was good but nothing substantially delicious. I had the pavlova which unfortunately was not pavlova at all, but vanilla sorbet with two meringues plopped on top. Which was disappointing because I love pavlova and it was the highlight of the day.
I also had to chase them down to pay. No one ever came back after dropping off the check despite walking by us and ignoring us saying excuse me. There was no salt and pepper on the table, fries came with no ketchup and some butter for the bread they gave us. The butter also came out with a small hair on it.
Overall the food is decent. Noting worth a crazy drive for. The venue was different and interesting, but the service was un inviting at best. I will likely not be back. I also heard it's a lovely place for a hike. We were running a bit behind so we're unable to do the hike. read more
