Pulled into town after too long a drive and walked to La Lamia at 9:00. Down an alley, into a beautiful, small open air space between buildings their tables were set up and they invited us to sit. If it was raining they would still have lots of places to sit, so don't let rain stop you. What I love about this is that back home in the US of A it wouldn't be allowed that a business utilized the public space. Public spaces are Common Wealth. and all of us will be wealthier when we both take care of our public spaces and allow uses of them that enhance our living. So good politics for La Lamia.
Now lets talk food. I had the octopus/ seafood antipasto dish to start. It had velvety potato chunks in it and the octopus was very tender. I would say perfection. My wife had a salad of tomatoes, onions and olives. She doesn't like raw onions, but these were so sweet she ate every one. Vidalia Onions are said to be the sweetest but these put Vidalias to shame. Tiny but delicious olives. Another close to perfection dish.
And for our second course we both had a risotto with truffles, shrimp and caviar. We both had it because it was a minimum of two people dish. OMG was it good. We liked the white wine we got for 12euro, picking from an extensive list. Go to this restaurant. read more
