If you're in Wildwood, this place is an absolute gem. We found La Isla and it truly felt like home the moment we walked in. We met the owner, Kelvin, and within minutes it felt like we'd known him for decades. His customer service is genuine, welcoming, and unmatched. The food was AMAZING. The chef did his thing. My husband had the churrasco with yellow rice, maduros, and a salad and let me tell you, he LOVED the salad. You have to try it! The homemade dressing did not disappoint at all. I had the shrimp pinchos with white rice and beans and maduros everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also had the guava colada and the isla colada, which were both refreshing and delicious. And the dessert wow. We had a brownie with chocolate ice cream and chocolate fudge drizzle pure heaven and the perfect way to end the meal. As a Puerto Rican, finding a place that truly feels like a piece of home is special, and this was exactly that. From the food to the atmosphere to the service 10/10 experience. Visited for the first time for the all you can eat lunch buffet and loved the food. It's a very casual Puerto Rican place you can get in and out very quickly if you'd like to. I tried almost everything they put out that day and liked it all. They had Criollo Rice, roasted pork, plantains, lasagna, cheese garlic bread, beans, meatballs, noodles with meatballs, and soup (the only thing I didn't try). Everything I ate was delicious and very obviously fresh. My favorite dishes were the roasted pork, the plantains, and the meatballs. It was so good I had to get seconds of everything. I would definitely recommend coming here for the lunch buffet. Especially if you like eating something different. I would also recommend following their Facebook page because they seem to change up their lunch buffet here and there. That's what's going to keep me coming back because I'm also someone who likes to change things up for lunch. read more

Family owned and operated very accommodating we showed up on a Friday night party of 6 with no reservations ( not recommended) but they made it happen for us and thank god they did it was the best meal I've eaten all week. the reviews made us think this restaurant would be good, but sadly we were disappointed. chicken was over cooked to the hard wood stage, fish was a frozen filet (instead of the skewer on the menu) that was again cooked to death and a bit off tasting, did not finish. It looked like pudding, the steak had absolute no flavor and was overcooked, the beans were watery with absolute no flavor overall terrible food and not authentic Hispanic food. read more

La Isla is an amazing new addition to Wildwood restaurants this year, and finally had the time to stop by. It is beautifully decorated with a tropical ambiance. The patio is a wonderfully shaded area to spend time enjoying some favorite Puerto Rican dishes and listen to music. With so many things to choose from the menu, it sure was difficult. So, I had to go with a classic pernil. (If that is right, usually everything will be!) But, I was taken aback, what a surprise on a beautiful twist and presentation of the dish! I had Pernil al Horno: Roast pork, pastel, criollo rice, pickled onion w/chili honey resting on the bed of a large banana leaf. This was the most appealing authentic presentation I have ever seen of this dish, including high end PR restaurants in San Juan! It was accompanied by a salad with amazing dressing. I also tried the rellenitos app, (lightly fried mashed potato balls stuffed with ground meat ) and had a tropical juice drink to enjoy. That also were presented beautifully and delicious. Note: They are BYOB.) I felt the portions were generous and had to take 1/2 home with me- more to enjoy tomorrow! The presentation, the island back ground music, the food quality and the service were top notch. My server checked on me several times and was so sweet, I appreciated her attentiveness throughout my visit. Clearly the owners have put their heart and soul into their business, and it shows in every aspect: Experience, vibe, feeling, food quality/presentation, service and delivering the BEST Puerto Rican food in the area! I have tried all Spanish restaurants locally, and this one tops them all, by far! I will absolutely be back to try everything else on the menu! We ordered a few dishes from this place hoping we would have a Puerto Rican restaurant that we loved in wildwood but it was alright. My wife (who is Puerto Rican) wasn't a huge fan of the chicken mofongo, me and a friend both got the chicken sandwich which was okay. We also got the empanadas which were very good. Very disappointed, the "arroz criollo" which is suppose to be arroz con gandules was terrible, mushy and wet with no gandules whatsoeve, the pernil was had no pieces of actual meat, it was more like a shaved meat texture and serving pasteles in July is crazy!!!! read more

I tried this new Puerto Rican restaurant and really enjoyed it. The crispy honey chicken with bean sauce was flavorful and perfectly crispy, with a nice balance of sweet and savory. The tender pork had a delicious smoked flavor and was very juicy. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. I will definitely come back again. read more

I never leave restaurant reviews but I can't help myself. We visited La Isla while in town for a sports competition. We had a party of 23 people. We called ahead to make a reservation and when we arrived they were wonderful. After we all ordered the food came out lightning quick for as many people as we had. But as soon as we all started taking our first bites of food, we all knew we hit the jackpot! Every dish that came out was jam packed with flavor and everyone kept repeating "omg this is so good". So much so a few people from our party returned the next day for lunch. The owners came by our table to make sure we were enjoying everything and introduce themselves and explained they just opened this past Winter. The warm, casual atmosphere, outstanding food and friendly staff made this a home run. read more

So glad we decided to try the new Puerto Rican restaurant, La Isla, for dinner tonight! The immaculately clean dining room is very bright and cheerful with salsa music playing in the background. The continuous loop of tropical Puerto Rico on a TV screen adds to the Caribbean atmosphere. The service was warm and friendly with Kelvin assisting us with our selections of authentic Puerto Rican options. Our meals (Shrimp Pinchos and a Pastelillo, ISLA Pulled Chicken Mofongo, and a huge Pastrami Sandwich) were served hot, delicious and full of freshly made flavor! We also shared a bowl of hot lasagna soup as an appetizer that was unique and flavorful! It hit the spot on this cold winter night! We ended our meal sharing a piece of home made tres leches cake, that was the best I've ever tasted, accompanied by cups of freshly made hot coffee.
