So many varieties of food and all six dishes ordered by our party were amazing. Service was excellent and prompt. Trust me. This is the spot. Don't miss out on the panna cotta.

There were plenty of seats for lunch but dinner got crowded quick so go right at opening or make reservations. Beautiful indoor decor, friendly & attentive service, they constantly refilled our waters & they had many gluten free options including crepes. They were so thoughtful to bring bread for my family & gluten free mini crepes for me. My favorite was the sautéed scallops in garlic butter which came with rice & ratatouille. It was very fresh, locally caught & delicious! We also liked the sautéed shrimp with rice and the flank steak with pepper sauce. If you like your steak medium rare, tell them rare with pink. France only does rare, medium or well done. The salmon filet came with mashed potatoes, the fish was a little dry but had good flavor. We were too full to order dessert or else we would have gotten Nutella crepes. Overall a great meal, I highly recommend this restaurant, only 10 min away from Mont Saint Michel.

Went for Dinner Food…read more- 5/5. They truly showcase the quality of local Normandy products in an excellent farm-to-table concept. Bread had an amazing chew and the butter was rich and creamy. The bisque was clear broth, and the lack of cream made it easier to taste the natural sweetness of shrimp. Arugula gave it a peppery kick and the fried onions added crunch. We tried both styles of their specialty, the salt marsh lamb, and it was phenomenal. Lamb chops were grilled just slightly to create a sear, resulting in a perfect rare doneness. This allowed us to taste the unique texture of the lamb, which was very tender, being easy to cut with just your teeth. It had a very rich lamb flavor with no gaminess. While the lamb chops focused on the natural flavor of the lamb, the confit showed the culinary fineness of the restaurant. Confit was fork tender, aromatic with thyme, and the jus served as a sauce that reinforced the confit's flavor. Their vegetables were fantastic bringing out the natural flavors of each with excellent texture. Carrots were my favorite as they were roasted perfectly, creating a soft bite and emphasizing their natural sweetness. Potato mille feuille had a soft crunch, creamy interior, and the layers made for a fun texture. You could really taste the earthy flavors of the potato, which was even better when soaked with the confit jus. The cheeses were very strong with a sharp flavor. I could tell that they were of good quality, but I personally prefer milder cheeses. The farmhouse ice cream was absolutely amazing being rich, but not overpoweringly sweet. It was semi-hard, being able to hold its own shape, which resulted in a dense texture that melts in your mouth. It was a perfect pairing with the profiterole, which added a crunchy texture. Service - 4/5. Courteous and friendly service. They spoke fluent English, were readily available and the speed of service was fitting for the French dining culture. I made reservations via email and they provided a code to get past the gate. The code also provided a discount for the gate fees. Value - 5/5. Being a huge tourist destination, there are many touristy options in the area. Many of them state they offer the local specialty, agneau de pre-sale, but only have one option on their menu. La Ferme Saint-Michel is the only location I saw that has more than just a confit, offering the lamb chops that most tourists think of when it comes to lamb. They have a 45€ prix fixe of appetizer, entree, and dessert that includes the lamb confit but the lamb chops are a la carte, priced between 32-42€. Everything was sourced locally, tasted amazing, and the portions were great. An absolute must-visit restaurant to experience the local cuisine of Mont Saint-Michel. Parking - Private Lot (Free)

Dinner in Mont Saint-Michel, France…read more.. We tried to dine at La Ferme Saint-Michel on the evening that we arrived, but we didn't have a reservation. My assignment from my friends was to get a reservation for 7:30pm for a party of 4 for the next day. I emailed the restaurant, then booked online. Everything was in French, so I guessed at how to answer the usual questions: How many in the party, time, and date requested. We parked for free in the gravel lot and walked in to a busy environment. Our table was in a connecting room where it seemed brighter and calmer. I chose the set meal for 45€. My starter was the duck salad which was nice and refreshing. The main entrée was the Salt Marsh Lamb Shoulder. It seemed like a patty made from shredded meat. Strange, but tender and moist! The dessert was Pont D'Orson. The cookie between the baked apple and scoop of ice cream was like the bridge between Mont Saint-Michel and the mainland. This restaurant was large and on the noisy side. It was an interesting foodie experience!

This restaurant is located just by the Gate of Saint Louis within the walls of the city. We had…read moretried to eat at La Fleur du Sel, where we had enjoyed fabulous meals in years gone by, but it was full so we tried Le Saint Louis because it was recommended in our ancient guide-book. It was a weekday lunchtime in August but at first we weren't sure the restaurant was even open, as it seemed to be quite empty. Also the restaurant did not advertise a menu enfant so we were a little concerned about bringing our four hungry kids inside I went in and checked, and the delightful friendly waiter said that yes, they were open and that they would create a suitable dish for our kids with ice-cream and a drink at 8EUR apiece. Chef informed him to tell us that the kids would be given ham and potatoes. (We weren't offered a choice! But Chef knew best). When this arrived, each child had a wedge of the most delicious, meltingly tender, home-cooked gammon arranged on a plate with a miniature perfect stack of dauphinois potatoes, accompanied by crisp green beans and heavenly carrot puree. For kids who thought they wanted burger and chips, they polished the lot off appreciatively, not to mention the pleasure their parents got from finding somewhere in France where vegetables are served! The children even agreed that sometimes a properly trained French chef might even be a better cook than mum. Our own meals included a fabulous starter of chevre on a bed of leeks and sundried tomato, followed by the tenderest lamb tasted for years (Mr Bristol) and a nice piece of veal (me) accompanied with richly earthy morel mushrooms. We washed it down with a notably delicious but relatively inexpensive white Bourgogne. I also managed to cram in a dessert, a rich and crunchy and splendid chocolate croquante. We finished the meal off with coffees for the adults - and the entire meal for 6 came in at 125EUR. It's a quiet place with a medieval feel inside - dim lights and bare solid stone walls, with a nice outdoor courtyard area and good clean toilets. Our waiter was unobtrusive but friendly and helpful. I suppose this is the standard for eating out in Dinan - just fantastic. It's this kind of experience that fuels the fantasy of Brits that they should immediately emigrate to France!
