We had two pizzas, which were better than average, and some passable Italian wine. The cheerful waiter convinced my companion to finish with an espresso. I love that this place was waking distance from our hotel! A block away! There's definitely a lot of pizza spots in the neighborhood but this specific one caught our attention. Friendly and professional staff! Service was exceptional. So happy they had a high chair for my toddler! We are visiting from California and I love a good pizza! Their thin crust is amazing! Super fresh, super fast. I typically add condiments to my pizza but this was perfect the way it was. I'm surprised I ate more than half by myself! My husband, daughter and I were excited for some great Italian food and this place good great reviews. What they DON'T tell you.... Is that if you go in and order only ONE pizza for 3 people... the rude elderly man will refuse to serve you. He said no it's not enough. I told him my daughter already ate but he shook his head and said no I can't help. So we left. Stopped for take out because my husband was sick and couldn't eat in. I was greeted warmly and my order of pasta and soup was taken quickly. It was a short wait. The restaurant looked homey and I wish o could have sat down and had a glass of wine. My takeout arrived shortly and I took it back to the hotel. We went for dinner after seeing the Eiffel Tower based on a recommendation from our hotel. As we were walking by we missed the entrance and commented on how amazing it smelled where we were, little did we know it was coming from our restaurant! Upon entrance (with our 14 month old and stroller), we were greeted by a very friendly gentlemen who ran to get the door for us. We saw him get the door for just about every guest as long as he wasn't carrying dishes. It was a bit tough to get around with the stroller but they accommodated us. Ours is pretty small so be mindful of that, might want to consider not bringing one. They did not have high chairs but most places in Paris seem to not, so be aware of that as well. I forgot to take photos of my food unfortunately but did if the menu. Our 14 month old enjoyed the minestrone soup (it was the best I've ever tried), I really enjoyed the linguini ou conchegli à pail (vegetarian dishes) and my husband enjoyed the lasagne bolognese. They bring out bread and olives beforehand and have a decent wine selection. Me being pregnant and my husband not wanting much to drink, his only option was a glass of the house wine but they do have half and full bottles available. The dinner portions are a bit small so if you're hungry I recommend trying an appetizer. As you read this know that I used their free high speed internet to post this review! First off, we were greeted and seated right away. The service was very good compared to what we have received in London the past five days before coming to Paris. Our waiter was very attentive. The meal we ordered was perfect for two people to share. We got the American pizza and the lasagna bolognese. Everything was made to order, fresh, and warm. Our meal also included a side salad and a basket of bread. The pizza was packed with flavor! It was not soggy nor super crispy. The lasagna was creamy and flavorful as well. My wife and I went to eat a meal here late one night because she had seen a brochure in our hotel, and she wanted to try the pesto penne pasta. The smells from outside on the street were amazing! As we walked up closer, we were greeted by this very nice gentleman. There were enough table settings to accommodate at least 20-25 people, and the interior was very colorful and filled with culture from around the world. The ambience was very comfortable. I would suggest building your own pizza as mine was amazing. The pizzas measure about 12" across and was more than enough for me. My wife did get her pasta and she loved it. I'm still eating the leftovers two days later!! All in all, this quaint little restaurant is a gem. If you're in the area you should definitely stop by for a pizza pie! read more

Pizza La Gourmandise is better than it appears. We hesitated going in, because on the outside it seems to be masquerading as a fast food pizza joint. But we were hungry and tired, and all the cafés were full. This place was a pleasant surprise. The friendly owner personally waits on his customers, so the service was excellent - in fact the best we had in Paris. Once you get past the pizza part of the menu, they have a nice selection of lasagna, pasta, salads and couscous. I had the Penne Pesto, which was very well done, and my wife had the Salmon Lasagna, a distinctive dish that was delicious. We ate here again the next day, and I made it a point this time to try the Salmon Lasagna as well. It was another excellent meal. Yelp's categorization of this restaurant as "fast food" sells this restaurant short. In fact, it actually is a Rick Steves recommended restaurant. It's best not to judge a book, and this restaurant, by outside appearances. read more

We actually ended up coming to this restaurant after the one next door establishment seemed too cramped. Boy did we find a hidden gem. The staff is very friendly and helpful - the food delicious. I've tried both the seafood and margarita pizza as well as the pasta seafood dish. I'd recommend coming here for a chill, and uncomplicated good time. read more

We visited la Gourmandise on our first night in France. We went early and it was mostly other Americans there. They provided an English menu for us and others. We enjoyed our pizza and it was in a very convenient location near the Eiffel Tower in the Rue Cler area. I also made the mistake to not specifically ask for tap water. They gave me a bottle for 3-4 EUR without asking for clarification. 2.5 stars. read more

Wonderful little restaurant. the old man running the place is very nice and welcoming. as we approached he ushered us in as if he knew we were coming :) The food is wonderful and delicious, assembled with high quality ingredients. This was a great find on the way to our hotel which is just around the corner (close to the Eiffel Tower). Great pizza, pasta, salad, etc. It is the best we've had so far compared to the pizza we have tried in California. We loved it so much that we came back a second time! We decided we wanted a nice meal for our last night in Paris. After reading reviews, we made reservations. When we arrived, it was not quite as expected. It was reminiscent of a pizza parlor in the states. This is not a fine dining establishment but it does have character. While there, several American families with kids came. I think it is a fine establishment for families with kids, but there is no romantic ambiance to it. Our server was not always present and a little hard to track down. He spoke Spanish which was good since my French is not so great. We had the Capers salad which had avocado and tomatoes. The dressing was poured on a bit generously for our liking. We also had the four cheese pizza. The crust was nicely done, but the cheese combination did not work. Not a big fan of blue cheese on my pizza. It was a nice meal but certainly not the best we had. Service was spotty at best. This would be a good place for families, but if you are a couple, you may want to look elsewhere. read more

I didn't share the same positive experience as the other patrons. First- the food- I order fettuccini bolognaise- and it was the worst I've ever had. My husband had some, too, to make sure my taste buds weren't off- he agreed that it was sub par. Even the bread they serve (pizza crust) was not good. My husband ordered the texas pizza- and he also said it was sub par. I noticed the table next to us left a lot of their food on their plates as well. The service was not great. They waved us in, and sat us down. They never got us menus- we got our own. We ordered a coke zero and when I saw the waiter bring a regular coke, I tried to correct him by telling him we wanted a coke ZERO. He said, "oui, zero" and pops the can of regular coke open for my husband. When we ordered, we tried to just get a single pizza to share- but the man said it wasn't enough. We followed his advice only to waste half the food- it was enough for 2. Lastly, we asked for a box and check at the end and waited a long time for it- only to go up to the counter and pay instead b/c they forgot. Disappointed read more

I'm sorry to say this was experience in Paris. The waiter brought us a cheese pizza two minutes after we ordered a margherita. This was a sign it wasn't fresh and when I mentioned it was missing basil and other basic ingredients listed on the menu for the margherita (which is a typical recipe) he picked it up, threw basil leaves on it and gave it back. I've never sent back food, but the feeling I got was very negative. I would avoid going to this restaurant as it will take away from a beautiful Parisian experience. read more

1st time visitor to Paris, looking for a "good pizza" and we found it! My wife had the duck leg with garlic pasta and I had the 4 saisons pizza. The thin crust pizza, the sauce, the cheese, ham, artichoke hearts, black olives were cooked to perfection. Who would have thought I would have found an authentic Italian pizza in Paris, France? My wife's duck leg was very tender and melted like butter in your mouth! The only drawback was that it was a tad bit too salty, but other than that, it was very good. The garlic pasta packed a punch of garlic for the garlic lovers out there. Very nice "gem" of a find near the Eiffel Tower. We will visit again before we leave. read more
