The level of incompetence is unparalleled. That pool stays freezing cold oftentimes having people turn away or deal with worsening arthritis from that freezing pool! People complain daily and it stays cold! It's almost as if it's being done maliciously! No other location other than this woodmore location (which is one of the newer gyms) has this level of pure disrespect to its members by failing to fix the pool that is just freezing! read more

LA Fitness - Gyms Near Me - Lanham, Maryland

I go every other day and was hoping to experience something better than Planet Fitness. They have lots of machines and options for workouts but everything around the working out is a problem... There's no gym educate. 1. Weights are never in their proper place 2. People have bags laying everywhere 3. It's more of a social club due to people talking constantly and holding machines hostage. 4. There are clear signs for Sauna use and one morning I witnessed a lady doing a prayer call and understood how ghetto the situation was. 5. There are small weights to trip on all over the place and people mostly just do anything they think of without regard to GYM EDUCATE! 6. The facility is not that clean and well maintained on the inside. read more

I contacted this LA Fitness to request a 3 day guest pass as I would be visiting the area. I spoke with a sales person named Shawn, whom scheduled an appointment with me. He contacted me the day before the appointment to confirm, but never mentioned anything about not being eligible for the 3 day pass. When I arrived for my appointment Shawn informed me he had researched my account and saw I had a 3 day pass 2 years ago. Therefore, I was not eligible for another one. But he could sell me a pass if I still wanted to work out. It was disappointing he did not tell me this over the phone, it felt like a bait and switch. Truly a swindler type sales person. read more

LA Fitness is great place to workout and enjoy all your workout needs. The place is really big and has an upstairs which is a plus. All your weight machines is downstairs and the cardio machines are upstairs. This LA Fitness is the best one in the area which is my opinion. As soon you walk in, You are greeted with the front desk workers which are so nice and friendly and always say "Hello, Welcome to LA Fitness" after you scan in your membership in the scanner then they say "Enjoy your workout" It's the little things that make your day even better. After the interaction, You go to the locker room which is all the way in the back next to the basketball gym.(Guys locker room) Get change and use the bathroom if you need to. You walkout the locker room and you have a gym on your right that you can play basketball and other activities. You keep walking then you on your left you have the stairs that goes to the cardio machines which is in the middle of the floor and other rooms surround the cardio machines which is a studio and bike room. You keep walking then you have on your left the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tube. The girls locker room as well. I never been in the pool or hot tube yet but it looks great. The steam room is always broken unfortunately, So I don't get to enjoy that often but the sauna is amazing! I love the heat of the sauna after a good workout. It's always a plus to enjoy that! On the weight floor (Downstairs), they have many weight machines and other equipment that you need for a workout. They also have a turf area that has a bunch of stuff to workout as well but you really can't use that area because they always have trainers from morning time all the way to 8:30pm I believe. All the machines on the weight floor are great but it does kinda sucks when all the machines are taking and you have to wait for them. The popular machines that people uses is always taken and they are always busy and the thing is that they only have one of them each of the popular machines. For example "The leg press machine" They only have one and its mostly popular machine of the leg day workouts. Also, There is only like four benches for lifting. They are always taken which not the greatest on busy days and you have to skip your workout because of how busy the benches can be during busy times. (Yes, You can wait for the bench or machine but on busy days, You literally have to stay beside it and not move from the bench or someone else will take it) I just wish they add more of the popular weights and machines for how popular the gym can be but on the bright side, I never see a machine broken yet so that's good that they keep up on maintenance for their equipment. (besides the steam room) The turf area is mostly empty during the entire day (Like I said previously texted) and you will get yelled at by personnel trainers they have at this LA Fitness. It's doesn't matter if you are stretching out for few moments. You will get told to leave the area and go behind the ropes. (Even if it's empty) so beware of this. Other LA Fitness that I have been to let you workout and stuff when it's empty but not this one. (photo at the bottom of the Empty turf area) The golden Easter egg here (Something is surprising or unknown) that they have amazing volleyball program. It's only $30.00 play for the entire season. They also have open play for everyone if you don't want to join the season. They play only on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-9pm but time differ sometimes so make sure to lookout for that time change. Also, the people are great in the program. If you don't know how to play then everyone will teach you how to play volleyball. It doesn't matter on your skill set. It's all about fun! So don't be shy and go enjoy the volleyball program. Overall 3.5/5 read more

Although I went to this particular LA Fitness facility as merely a guest of another member, I'm no stranger to this gym business chain. What's not to love about a gym that offers amenities such as a steam room, sauna, smoothie station, clean locker rooms and a large workout floor with no faulty equipment? I've never joined a LA Fitness gym because their membership rates are insane, but it's always a pleasure to visit while traveling on the road. read more

LA Fitness - Worn out after my workout. - Gyms Near Me - Lanham, Maryland

Went into the Sauna, and folks had shoes on due to how dirty the floor is and a roach being in the room. After being in there for 10 minutes. A Hispanic worker wearing neon green crocs targets this young Black man solely for wearing shoes. Mind you there are several people wearing shoes in the sauna. We cooperated, but I did ask her to define what type of shoes aren't allowed and to add it on the sign. Very rude to call one person out and not everyone. The only reason I give this one star is because of the young man working alongside her was kind. And understood how targeted this whole situation was. Thanks for the first and last visit! I really hate this gym. read more

This has been my favorite LA Fitness for awhile but they're going down in safety and consistency. I hated when they transitioned to wipes instead of the spray bottles to clean the machines. I don't see how that is more effective other than LA Fitness wanted to save money and it takes less time to fill the spray bottles which no one was doing anyway. Additionally, on a consistent basis, the sauna is not halfway working most times. I'm tired of paying for a service that I do not receive. The sauna would be down for MONTHS and management will tell you they're working on it or they ordered the parts but still no progress. It's frustrating dealing with such a lackadaisical management team, super lazy with no accountability. And to top it all off last week they closed the gym for 2 days and I find out there was a shooting INSIDE THE GYM on the basketball courts. Straight hoodrats here it's ridiculous. I rather go to a safer and more convenient gym where machines actually work, preferably in a white area. Yes I said it! read more

Over priced Planet Fitness. I was a ballys member for years and they had energy and vibrancy. I went to check out LA fitness and it was dry and the equipment was a C/C-. At least PF you know what you are getting upfront no frills. I'm not seeing any value for this place read more

Overall the Woodmore Towne Centre facilty had some wonderful trainers for the personal training. Most of them left. But when we signed up for a year of personal training we were led to believe each session would be for an hour (see picture). We would have never signed up for thirty minute workout sessions. After the first month we were told each session would only be for thirty minutes and they had been "doubling" our sessions. This essentially meant we paid for six months, not the year we were led to believe. Even this became problematic because our trainers schedule was "always booked". Also we will lose any remaining sessions at the end of a year. The gym has a exellent selection of workout machines, free weights, pool, steam room and sauna room that are cleaned regularly cleaned. read more

Pros: New equipment . Especially since the other location has rather worn out "everything" There are plenty of stair climbers, treadmills, and ellipticals The staff is super helpful. Cons: There is only one machine for each workout. And if someone is claiming to use three at one time ....... You're just out of luck on getting a workout With Covid there aren't many paper towel stations, you have to walk across the gym just to grab some Considering just going back to planet fitness. Why pay more for less? read more

LaFitness, 9450 Ruby Lockhart Blvd, Largo MD. This facility is located very conveniently for many people. The staff are friendly. However there are a lot of issue with this facility. The woman locker room is freezing cold, some time there is no hot water when taking a shower, the water in the pool is almost always cold on the 22nd January 2024 it was so cold I could not do the water aerobic, the Sauna has not been in service for over 2 months. I am 71 years old and had been a member of Bally's since I was 21 years. I enjoy going to the facility, meeting other members however they the management needs to better for the people that attend the facility. read more

I joined this gym last year specifically because of the steam room and sauna. The steam room has not been working since around November 2022. The desk staff just keeps saying they have ordered the parts. Each time (at least 7) they said it should be about 3 weeks and they say people keep breaking it. They advertise that they have these services but they refuse to repair them. They aren't giving refunds on monthly membership fees, so they should offer services as advertised. Don't keep lying to patrons. I would prefer that you take the money you pay the DJ and fix the steam room. I did not sign up for membership to a dance club with a DJ. I expected the equipment they advertise. read more

Beware, they are stealing keys & cars at this location.  It's been 30 days since my Truck was stolen from this location,  keys were picked up from sideline of the basketball court near the same side as camera projected on the Left Side of the court.  Met w/ the Ops & General manager the following day who were both aware and did NOT even reach me the following morning although I left my contact information.  To add, Glenarden police still have not received any assistance, traces of footage / membership logs from LA Fitness General Manager (Sean).  Instead of helping to track the offending members /or guest with the description of suspects whom I explained were likely the same ones that removed my ball from location where keys were dropped.  During meeting, Sean LA Fitness GM hands over a complimentary 3-day pass with corporate number explaining issue with camera is "above his pay grade" on 1/30 the following morning Monday.  Got a call from the District manager 10 days after the event (January 30) says he wants to help... so he says...yet ignores call next 3 attempts to follow up on Thursday, Saturday, & Monday the following week after. In-between DM: 1.  Asks Me to forward his contact to Detective??? (although I was told LA Fitness will communicate directly with Police.) 2.  No record of checking in on date / time of theft... no evidence from corporate either. (Time of check-in day of theft.) 3,  LA Fitness staff DM dodges every inquiry on whether footage was reviewed on 1/29/2023 with possible record of suspects described to Sean, LA Fit ess GM (whom I retrieved my basketball from that day.)  When following up - I was once left on HOLD and overheard staff saying "he's still on hold." I paid for my membership and my Truck.  At least, provide the same energy from service signing up membership toward finding records to the officers.   (As to date:  No contact from Sean, video for reporting agencies Glenarden PD, or information leading to the members / or guests that coordinated Auto Theft from LA Fitness - Lanham.)  This is completely unprofessional!  I would expect the same energy Sean used to target new members invited via email and through LA Fitness cold calling.  I explained to him and staff that my car insurance was temporarily disabled due fact I am in-between jobs.  I used the gym membership to focus on health / strengthen mobility pivoting recovery from fracture injury. At least, show the decency to follow up with progress made to help capture thieves that "checked-in."   Entered Black History month like this.  I dont think it would take 30 days to assist getting footage of at least the suspects described. Paid too much money to live here and this is the welcome I get for trying to strengthen recovery from both a femur fracture & knee surgery.  I could have just stayed playing basketball at the local park without this risking this happening. What a Betrayal! read more

I should be able to cancel my membership the same way I started it, over the phone. The staff told me that I could not cancel over the phone, so I closed the account. I won't be forced to go out of my way to cancel something in person that I started over the phone. My account is "past due" and now I'm receiving calls where they tell me they can cancel it over the phone if I pay my past due balance???? I haven't been to the gym in over a month, use that sizable down payment I paid to cover my "past due" balance or keep trying to withdraw from a closed account. Such a scam lol. Mmkayyy bye. read more

The front desk staff is very rude, especially the girl with the braids. The instructors are good though.

This review is specifically about the personal training staff at LA Fitness Glenarden. It's such a blessing to get A1 customer service in my neighborhood instead of having to drive all the way to Bethesda, Georgetown or West End, DC somewhere. Special shout out to Hamid and David. Both are expert trainers who specialize in making sure your form is correct. That's a huge plus for me. Both are willing to go (and have gone) above and beyond to make sure I feel I'm getting the most bang for my buck. Friendly, professional, tailored-to-you workouts sure to make you sweat and your muscles burn. I'm grateful to have a local "brand new" gym with quality customer service. I will always highlight our businesses when they are doing right by us! Well Done LA Fitness Personal Training Team! read more

I just joined this gym locations and it's an interesting situation there. It does not appear that many of the rules are enforced by the staff and people just do what they want. Like any gym learning peak hours are important so I expect it to be busy but the customers seem to do what they want and no one enforces other wise. They hog equipment and will spend way to long between sets sitting on equipment scrolling thru their phones or taking phone calls. The aqua area is nice but concerning. The sauna is always standing room only but with no one abiding by the rules. Many are in there in their tennis shoes running in and out back and forth to the weights. So far every time I've gone to go in the hot tub there's brown stuff floating in the foam and a dirt ring like it's someone's bathtub. The steam room has been down for the past couple days but the evening staff (2 younger gentlemen) have been handling the complaints very well because people have been aggressive about it so kudos to them. I understand the pool is not deep enough to require a life guard but something has to be done about people kids (11-16) running in and out of the sauna and pool are too. People in the pool with non aqua attire etc. it's unsanitary especially as we are still dealing with covid. I get the crowd is a lot but when people know you're at least checking and enforcing rules they tend to follow them more. read more

There's really nothing special to see here! This gym has the same weight equipment 24 hr fitness had, except the arrangement is different . It makes sense that whatever deal LA fitness had taking over the lease from 24hr might include their equipment (after all what is 24 hour fitness going to do with them?). The wall paper is different in the weight room, the cardio equipment might be new, bathrooms and locker rooms have zero updates. It's the most BORING looking gym I've ever been in, but it'll do in a pinch and it's convenient for me. (sigh) Members walking around with their masks off or below their chins, and it doesn't seem that management really enforces such rule. Basic gym etiquette is lost at this gym with some members loading up the equipment with all this weight and not re-racking when done (maybe management could do something about that?). This is a real missed opportunity for management to set expectations, especially since the opening is brand new ,and now is better than later when such habits have been set. This will not only make member experience so much better, but also cut down the amount of time staff has to pick up after members (happy staff). It might have been smart to put a sanitation station/table in the middle with easier access for some members. I only mention this because I happened to notice that members were not using much of the wall stations, so maybe if it was more accessible? Anyway these are just my humble opinions and suggestions, but suggest you check it all out for yourself...... read more

I contacted LA fitness on 12/7/2023 where I was transferred to a Katie/ Katy who stated she was the store manager. I tried explaining my situation that my sister is a member at LA fitness in Lanham, Maryland where Katie/ Katy also works. My sister has a leg injury and will not be retuning to the gym any time soon. I on the other hand am disabled, however I wanted to know could I use my sister's gym membership with her consent. The manager was rude and screaming, it was very difficult for me to get my sentences in. I informed her that I was disabled while she was screaming and talking over me. She even stated that if I was disabled why would I even want to attend the gym in the first place. I mean she was nasty , rude continued to talk over me. I told her if I was white you probably wouldn't be talking to me this way she said "yup" and hung up abruptly on me. I mean I was discriminated about my disability and race. I have really bad experiences today in this club at lanham if I could rate it with 0 I will do it .bad customer service but I have to point not everyone honestly! I been a member of this gym exactly today 1 mont and i recently have a issue with the credit card that I used to enroll , I pay the 99 dollar fee to enroll the membership plus 2 months in advance that I could used just and case I want to cancel my memembership they charge you in advance, today I was dated to be charge for anual fee plus the monthly which is fine , since my credit card was declined the person in front told me she can't let me in because I have a balance I wasn't aware of it but I understand and explain her and another guy I don't have my credit card with me I can update my billin information later on but she say she can't let me in and workout, this ruin my day because I feel humiliated and that they enjoy it telling me this , I was going to update my card .. but I don't know ‍ I guess thats the policy of la fitness or just as new member that I'm they could manage the situation.. and this it my experience for now read more

A Friend recently invited me to join her in a workout at this Location 9450 Ruby Lockhardt Blvd as I had just recently moved here when we went to sign-in there was a delay so I Politely stepped off to the side of the Front Desk as I was waiting I could hear a Woman speaking with a Fellow Employee and she was discussing another Members Personal Situation which as she spoke more I learned it was actually a Legal matter that had nothing to do with the Gym or LA Fitness. I decided to ask the Gentleman behind the front Desk for a Manager and pointed out the Woman I wanted to Report and the Employee just hung his head and said that is the Manager, That is Katie. I was totally shocked to Learn that a Manager would discuss a Members Personal/Legal situation and told the Employee I felt that she was Rude in doing so and she should not be Gossiping and he replied she Gossips about everything she hears and again I repeated that I felt that was Rude and Unprofessional and and he Explained she is Rude and Unprofessional to both Guests and Members and they have lost Members because of her Attitude. I asked why she is still in Management and he replied because Noone Complains because this Location is considered the "Hood" and I explained that Her Being an Employee of LA Fitness and Especially Management was putting LA Fitness in Position for a Lawsuit. Well Needless to say I asked My Friend if we could leave I decided this was not a Place I would want a Membership in with Management getting away with these type of things. After we left I asked My Friend to find out who this Member was as I felt they had a Right to know what was going on and that they should seek a Lawyer and have the Lawyer contact Corporate LA Fitness as this Clearly seems like Grounds for a Lawsuit and the Member in Question should Pursue it as such. I sure Hope Someone can do something about this before more Members begin to leave as for me I will not come back here . read more
