Terrible experience at LA Aurora that has left me quite frustrated. It was a cold, snowy Saturday morning on this Februray when I arrived at LA Aurora as a premium member, accompanied by a guest who was there for a dance class. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any parking spots, and since my guest was running late for the class, I decided to temporarily park in front of the entrance to accompany her inside first. After I scanned my barcode using the app, I planned to head back out and search for parking again. However, when I returned, my guest told me that Faye, the assistant manager of membership, had tried to stop her and threatened to cancel her membership. I was really shocked to hear this, especially since my guest hadn't been disrespectful at all; she was simply a bit unpatient about the class starting. Then, the following Monday, I received an email stating that my membership had been canceled, without any prior notice or communication. I found this extremely aggressive and unprofessional. When I asked Faye why my membership was canceled, she claimed it was because I didn't work out alongside my guest. I tried to explain my parking situation, but she didn't seem to care. I even asked for clarification on whether there's a policy about returning to your car for necessary items, but I didn't get any clear answer. It felt like she was abusing her authority to cancel memberships without valid reasons. I then reached out to the membership manager, hoping to resolve this issue. However, it seemed like there's a significant lack of accountability in their team. The manager said they see over a thousand members every day and are trying to prevent unauthorized access. But this wasn't my situation at all, and he seemed not interested in my concerns. When I requested a refund for my last month's deposit, the remaining balance on my annual membership (which has over nine months left), and the unused days of the canceled month, I felt like my concerns were being kicked around and they treat me like a fool. Because of all this, I have to file formal complaints with Consumer Ontario and the Better Business Bureau, but I still haven't received any refund. The most ridiculous part that the feedback from the organization claimed I used my membership too frequently, and that was their excuse for denying my refund LOL At this point, I'm feeling quite lost and unsure about how to get my money back. I would give them zero stars for the extremely bad experience I had with LA Fitness at this location. The staff emailed me the agreement, and in the signature area, they signed my name and used initials that aren't even mine. I left a message for that person to express my disapproval of them signing on my behalf. That person did respond with an apology and agreed to fix it when I came in. However, when I arrived, I discovered a discrepancy in the price, so I decided not to proceed. Then, I found out I had already been charged. I demanded a refund and was called a liar and a scammer by the employee. It took 14 days to receive my membership refund, and for the trainer, they deducted $62.15. read more

They do pool maintenance and put chemical into the water during workout hours when people are inside the pool. Asking to wait 5 min until end of workout was ignored, talking to the club employee who claimed to be a manager showed that they don't care about customer claims. read more

Joined LA Fitness in January 2017 and I thoroughly enjoy the facilities. It is very spacious and fully equipped with lots of body building and exercising machines. There is a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, basketball/volleyball court, a studio for daily fitness/yoga classes, couple of squash courts, exercise/stretching area with mats, and a fully equipped Ladies Only Area. Change room is always clean and well maintained. Bring your own lock for the lockers to ensure security of your belongings... but I see a fair amount of people not using locks. If you only need to stow away keys and wallet, there are smaller locker in the front (just ask the reception desk). Once you are a member, there is a complimentary consultation and fitness assessment with one of the trainers. The assessment will determine if you need to pay more for private one-on-one workout sessions with one of their trainers or you can work out on your own depending on your fitness and abilities. I was paired with Disco and he was very enthusiastic, personable and helpful. He gave me lots of pointers on how I can improve of certain muscle groups and exercise I could do at home as well. I did not join their private one-on-one but my hubby did and he is seeing results :) FYI, Disco also create prep meals for each week; if you interested, inquire him when you come to LA Fitness! read more

This is a large gym with many amenities (pool, hot tub, sauna, ladies only area, group fitness classes, children's area, shake counter, squash courts, gymnasium to name a few). Be wary of the staff trying to sell you a personal training sessions, these aren't cheap. I've come at a few different times during the day and find that the only time there aren't a ton of people is very early in the morning. Otherwise you'll be hard pressed to find a machine or weights to use. There's staff constantly cleaning and I haven't noticed any cleanliness issues other than gym members not wiping down machines when they're done using them. read more

I've been a member since January 17, 2016. Almost everyone at this gym will recognize my face shown on this review. I am going to quit on my 4th anniversary. I've been trying to quit for awhile, but it was difficult to get out of my personal training contract. It's 2021 and they still require members to mail in cancellation requests to HQ in the US. I'm currently paying $542.40 per month for 8 personal training sessions per month. I'm also paying $39.54 per month for the gym membership fee. In total, I'm paying $581.94 per month so it's close to $600/month. I could afford Equinox with the amount of money that I am paying, but instead, I am receiving subpar service. Why subpar? Here are the reasons: - On November 6th, 2021, my trainer, Anthony, goes to the washroom, right as I am about to deadlift my heaviest weight ever. - On November 13th, Anthony, continues to push me to lift a heavier weight. I was not ready for it, and I ended up with an injury to my lower back. - I should be getting an assessment once a month about my body fat percentage and other statistics. Instead, I have not been assessed in the past 6 months. - The showers and lockers are dirty, especially during the winter. - It's almost impossible to use some of the equipment like bench press after 5PM on weekdays because it's so busy. If traffic goes back to 2019 levels, good luck trying to use any equipment. - Free weights like dumb bells are not placed properly back on the equipment rack. It's disorganized. - 65% of the time, reception doesn't greet you when you enter the gym. However, I have witnessed one white man at reception greeting a young white woman who was walking behind me. It felt racist. - One of their 2 TVs was flickering for at least 3 months. They haven't fixed it yet. That TV is just an example of what else they don't fix. The jacuzzi and sauna are frequently out of service for a long time. There is no lifeguard by the pool. GoodLife Fitness down the street offers towel service and 24-hour business hours for the same price. Do yourself a favour and avoid LA Fitness. read more

Never, under any circumstances agree to a membership at LA Fitness! The club and facilities are ok but the process to leave the club is like leaving a concentration camp. They make it horrifically difficult to even find someone who will agree to cancel your account (not available on weeknights or weekends, sales reps unable to help, nobody to call). When I finally got the attention of the manager to call me, he spent his time trying to sell me more instead of just doing what I asked. He finally agreed to cancel and when I thought it was all over, I found out months later that they are still charging me! Just do not do any business with LA Fitness. Just cancelled my membership, olive green scum growing around drain in corridor outside shower area, inside of lockers has dirt and pubic hairs. members put paper towels on bottom of lockers cos they are dirty, as well as on the floor. I addressed this for 2 months with associates and got lip service. 2000 members a day go through and only 1 or 2 cleaners? When its busy, have to wait for a bench to change at sometimes. No thanks. Very clean gym, great squash courts, cardio and equipment, change rooms and showers are always being cleaned. Vartan the manager goes out of his way to make things run smoothly under the new Covid restrictions. Would highly recommend this club to anyone thinking of joining a gym. read more

The equipment is decent, the price is good (push hard for a better deal) but watch out for the personal training...after being bugged a thousand times to try it I finally got sucked in one day by DAVID. He called to confirm my appointment the next day and then asked me to change my time...I twisted myself into a pretzel to accommodate and then he didn't show....he was actually there but I guess he decided I wasn't worth it. I have many examples of this with other folks that had the same thing happen....they're only worried about signing people up...Watch out!! Great club I had a wonderful experience especially with nick and mo the managers. Club is clean and has a lot of great equipment

First visit of this gym. Everything was going well until I went to the hot tub. While it the jet spray was on there was lot of bubble on top. There are yellow stain and black stain. The edge of the hot tub also has black stain. It was so dirty I had to leave immediately. They need to clean this hot tub!!!!! read more

This gym is not clean and the change rooms are disgusting. The ladies change room is often without toilet paper or paper towels and the floors and showers are filthy. LA Fitness needs to spend some money to keep this gym in better repair. read more

While the gym itself is fine, the customer service is seriously atrocious. In my particular case, not only did they make a mistake (this was way back in August) where they swiped my membership instead of cancelling it, thereby removing it from the hold it was on, they have yet to fix their mistake. It's been months of back and forth with no result from the club. It's actually ridiculous! I've been waiting for a refund for months, but instead have been getting charged for the account. I'm seriously disappointed in this club and its management and will likely be switching to a different one in the near future. They keep saying they're fixing it and each time I go to see someone, they say it's fixed but I keep getting charged when I shouldn't be as the account was supposed to be taken off hold and closed. Overall, I would not recommend. Try a different club or a different location, if nothing else. read more

Be careful when going into this gym you will go intending to just get a membership and they will push you to get personal training saying they are going to give you a great deal when really your paying the same amount you could pay someone else that's more qualified. $65 for each 30 min session. And they will claim you can adjust your hours if need be but its all nonsense. They will badger you to sign up for personal training even if it means lying straight to your face or robbing you blind. Gym is overpopulated and change rooms are dirty. Glad I had 10 days to cancel by due to laws and regulations. Run quickly before you are stuck in a lengthy and costly contract, that's my advice. read more
