This place is epic! EPIC!! you could literally spend an entire weekend here exploring and you still…read moreprobably wouldn't get to see everything! It's truly a colossal piece of history. We went on a Saturday..got there around 3pm and left at 5pm. We barely ran into anyone while exploring..which was great. 2hrs was obviously not enough time. When we got there we checked in at the table..you get a wristband while on the property. Purchasing your tickets ahead of time..it makes life for the employees a lot easier. It's dark and there isn't power..so using the iPad to check out is a pain for them. They give you the rules and what not to do..where to stay out of..and they let you explore all on your own. We literally had so much fun. Make sure to bring plenty of flashlights and warm clothes if you're going during that winter season like we did. There are tunles that run from building to building..awesome! The chapel is incredible, the cell housing areas are just as cool..just so many things..the prison barber school..the cobbler shop. So many nooks and crannies. We learned theyll have overnight explorations in the spring/summer/fall in 2023. There will be a hydroponics building as well. The place is just spectacular, and the drive to keep this place open for people to come see history and not let it wither away is amazing. Thank you! Truly appreciate places like this. Please don't leave trash and break things here and ruin it for people who have an appreciation for places like this.

For the area this sure beats the fire hall where a majority of what happens here use to take place…read more You can think of this hall as a way that the town is taking back some of the land that had sat unused for years. Where this hall sits once had railroad tracks running through the area, so instead of a barren looking area you now have a use for the land. The inside of this place is huge, very high ceilings. Stage near the front of the building, wide open space between the front of the building to the rear. At the rear of the building you will find like a concession stand type of area, this kitchen area I am sure is used a lot. This place hosts everything from weddings to bingo night. Enough parking in the surrounding area. Park/playground adjacent to the area.

With Facebook and the internet all around, it's so easy to find a person/business nearby that can accommodate and to be able to view their work beforehand. She was amazing, and funny as hell to work with. She listens to what you want and makes it happen in no time. We ended up in a nearby garden where all of our photos were taken. It was a speedy process which I liked. We were posed, shot and moving onto the next location in no time. She was great with the little ones too. Having a two year old nephew sit still for any amount of time is difficult, but she was able to get the shots with him in them done quickly and held his attention. All images for my family were digital. They were then loaded on a CD Rom. We were given a release to have the photos developed wherever and however we liked. Big plus there. I was able to have mine put on canvas prints. They look great, we received both color and black and white for all shots. Check out the Facebook page for Ashes to Grace, she has sessions in great areas and they fill up fast.
