You know how no matter how many coffee shops you try, you have one that is just your "spot"? It's just a cafeteria, but I love La Estafeta for my morning coffee, or afternoon coffee, or just to sit down for a glass of sparkling water.
The guy who's always working here is so friendly. Most recently, I came in with horrible sunburn and was in that disgusting peeling phase. He joked around with me about it and just in general, is a very warm person. Although it's very Galician to be given something small to nibble on when you order a coffee or drink, I am always receiving extra pieces of bizcocho cake (not that I need it) with my coffee. And if it's sparkling water, little tapas. All of this for one euro [1].
I am dreading the day (if ever) that Starbucks makes its way to Galicia because I am unsure how simple places like this could ever compete with something trendy. But one thing is certain: I will always need coffee and will be coming to La Estafeta to start my mornings or give my afternoons a boost.
[1] Another great thing about La Estafeta: the price remains the same whether you're sitting on "la terraza" - outside - or inside the cafeteria. Almost every establishment in Vigo charges a higher price for sitting outside. read more
