One of my best meals in the city. Many thanks to talented young chef Diego Nino and Cesar Vazquez…read more Highly recommended by a local friend as his favorite restaurant in Mexico City, Nexo Wine Bitrot offers great wine selection (overseas and Mexican), very good modern cuisine (infused with Japanese elements, local ingredients, French elements), classy dining ambiance (high wooden tables, open kitchen, and big window walls), and very good service (both chefs came out to check on me and gave me a complimentary dessert). Reservation is relatively easy to make compared to other good fine dining restaurants in the city. Without hesitation, I choose the 5 course tasting menu (~770 peso). Complimentary fried chips with Mexican dipping sauce (savory sauce made with non-spicy chili): crispy chips and savory aromatic sauce. Then comes the first dish: crudo of the day, avocado with umeboshi, yuzukosho and garlic oil. Fresh and sweet fish, creamy avocado sauce and a refreshing note from umeboshi and yuzukosho, and lastly ends with aromatic note of garlic. Well done! Second dish is squid alla carbnonara. Excellent dish! Again fresh and sweet squid, nicely cooked so that the meat is tender. Rich bacon and creamy cheese adding the thickness in flavor and texture, and lastly a nice kick from black pepper. Artichoke heart with squash sauce and green mojo. Excellent. Very tender, meaty, and sweet artichoke with sweet squash sauce, and refreshing green mojo. Main dish: rib eye, truffled potato purée, and bok choy. excellent. The rib eye literally melts in my mouth! The truffled potato puree is very nicely done. Overall love the well balanced profile and the amzing fatty rib eye. Desert-- dry strawberry and cereals on top of almond ice cream (?) not overwhelmingly sweet. love the fine and creamy texture of the ice cream. And the wonderful meal didn't end! Chef came out to greet me and gave me a complimentary dessert--last comes the best--passion fruit tart decorated with beautiful flowers. Very very delicious. Not overly sweet or sour, it captures the refreshing taste of passionfruit. This dish, with bright colors, passionate flavor, and beautiful presentation, is a perfect one to end my day after visiting Frida's museum. Overall, highly recommend!

I had the beef tartare and the handmade truffle ravioli. My friend had the lamb. Both dishes were beautiful to look at and to eat. Short walk from hotels.

We…read moreopted for an outdoor table and experienced the most prompt and attentive service of our entire visit to Mexico City. The offerings at Romelia are comprehensive to say the least. We started with some delicious croquettes, followed by jamon iberico on toast, spicy charred pulpo, and finally two orders of tacos -- prawn and ribeye. Each dish was superb. The pulpo was expertly charred, and the flesh as tender as a gentle summer kiss. The tacos, which are made completely from scratch in house, embodied many of the rich flavors that make Mexico City one of the world's greatest culinary destinations. Even the side dish of butter we requested was exceptional; it tasted as if an abuela in the countryside had awoken early that same morning to milk her lone grass-fed cow and gently churn it just for our visit. We opted for a bottle of Toro (~$960?) to accompany our feast, which we regarded as a sensational value. It accompanied the food perfectly. In addition to his outstanding service timings, our waiter was kind, conscientious, and particularly patient with our subpar Spanish skills. Sometimes in life, happy accidents happen. This was one such occasion. We were very pleased to discover Romelia, and hope that we can experience it many more times during future visits to this great city.

The grilled octopus was amazingly tender and fresh, one of the best in all of Mexico so far. The Patatas Bravas were too covered in paprika to taste much else, so for me they're a skip. The pan con tomato (tomato toast) was also not great as the bread got soggy quickly and there was some odd taste. Not bad by any means, just not the best I've had. All in all though, Id return in a heartbeat as the vibe is so chill and pleasant and given how amazing the octopus was, I'd like to try even more off their menu.
