My co-worker had told me about this place for a min but I've waited till Christmas and new year season to order. I ordered off yelp and let me say. Ima be reordering from here alllll the time!!! Best tamales ever

I've been coming to this restaurant for years--I was born and raised in the Mission--and it honestly hurts to write this. This place used to be one of my go-to spots, with great food and friendly service. But after giving it another chance today, I can confidently say it's gone downhill in the worst way. This is now my second bad experience, and somehow it was even worse than the first. The service was incredibly rude and dismissive from the start. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food, only to realize it had been sitting on the counter the entire time. No one bothered to call us or bring it over--we had to ask for it ourselves. And when we did, we were told it was "fresh and hot," which couldn't have been further from the truth. The food was unacceptable. One of my family members had flautas with rice that was cold and hard, like it wasn't even fully cooked. While eating, she bit into a toothpick that had been left inside the food--with absolutely no warning. That's not just careless, it's dangerous. When I finally got my order (a quesadilla Suiza), it was completely cold. Another family member ordered the same thing and had the same issue. At that point, we asked for a refund because the food was clearly not edible. Instead of handling it professionally, our server laughed while we were explaining the situation and was extremely rude about it. We asked to speak to a supervisor, and were told no one was available. When we asked for a name or any way to contact management, we were told they didn't know who the supervisor was and that there was no way to reach anyone. That alone says a lot about how this place is being run. I'm honestly really disappointed. This used to be a place I trusted and recommended, but after two terrible experiences--especially this one--I won't be coming back. For reference, our server's name was Imelda Carrillo.

Found out about this place from the SFChronicle "Best burritos ". Ordered a super chicken burrito and a super carnitas burrito. Waited over 20 minutes which was pressing it. Wasn't that busy with customers. The nice lady saw me getting impatient and went to check on my order. Got my food drove 10 minutes back to the house. Took a bite and everything inside the burrito was cold, not room temp but ice cold. I thought it was maybe just the salsa that I poured on top. Nope! Had to microwave it just to be edible. Chicharron is $19.99 per pound . Stick with the big dawgs on this block, La Palma and El Farolito are one either side!!

Cool restaurant and market in the Mission. This was the first time I've tried a Guatemalan-style tamale and it was so good! I'd definitely come back again. The pupusas were a bit oily, but overall tasted great. There is a very small seating area and I noticed most people ordering food to-go.

Mix of various Latin dishes. Pupusa and tamales are hot and fresh. Though the pozole is nothing special. Friendly service. Limited seating.

The food is very good but the service is awful, they need to hire someone with some knowledge an how to treat a costumer.

For once in my life, I was forced to eat like a civilized man. On the outside, everything looked normal, but in the inside it was anything but normal: I had to open my third eye center so that I could ascend my primal instinct of going to town on this burrito. Equipped with a knife, I sawed thru that behemoth methodically - too fast and she would burst open, too slow & she would give me the cold side eye. I am the burrito slayer. Cash only, was very very well priced for the size (about $13. Receipt didn't make it out alive).

I have dined here many times in the past, and this is a cash-only restaurant. I ordered the Regular Burrito with Beef Steak ($10.25). The regular burrito comes with a flour tortilla, rice, beans, salsa, onions, and cilantro, plus your choice of meat or vegetarian. Meat choices listed on the menu: * Al Pastor - Marinated Pork * Carnitas - Deep Fried Pork * Chile Verde - Pork Green Sauce * Chorizo - Mexican Sausage * Carne Asada - Steak * Lengua - Beef Tongue * Pollo - Chicken * Cabeza - Beef Head * Tripas - Intestines I asked the cashier which meat was most popular, and he recommended the beef steak, which had a slight hint of spiciness. The burrito came with pinto beans and rice. I forgot to ask if I could substitute black beans. The burrito wasn't too salty, and the beef steak was just okay. I also think the $10.25 Carne Asada burrito is a good deal. At other taquerias, carne asada is often an additional charge or the burrito costs more when you choose steak. I usually ask for a receipt even when paying cash. When I checked my receipt, I noticed I was charged an additional $0.25 for "Bolsa To Go" (bag) even though I was dining in and didn't receive a to-go bag. It's not about the $0.25, but I think it's important for a business to have integrity and charge customers only for what they actually receive. I hope this isn't something being charged to other dine-in customers as well. Overall, I would come back to try a different meat, but next time I'll make sure to clearly say dine-in and check my receipt to make sure I wasn't charged for a to-go bag.

I got my food about 10 mins after ordering. I went with what was popular. The Dorada (toasted) super carne asada burrito was great, but I wish it was more toasty. It was softer than it looked and I assumed that was because they are frying it in lard ? But overall solid and great burrito. I thought the tacos are slept on here. Both asada and lengua tacos were incredible. Tortillas were really fresh and yummy, and they stuff it with a lot of meat (). I ordered my usual, regular carne asada burrito. Well, unfortunately, the beef was dry and had little black charred pieces. I only could eat half and threw the rest out. If I tried to reheat the next day it would be more dry. I give La Taqueria two stars for the hard working people there taking care of hundreds of orders a day. Quality control has definitely changed from when this was my favorite Mexican restaurant thirty years ago.

My friends opted for the burritos and I tried a quesadilla with al pastor meat. The food came out hot and fresh and there were different salsas and pico available to customize it.
