A must-stop to try the famous Riesling Gelato…read more So the top summary heading says it all - my girlfriend and I were walking around the charming town of Bacharach when we spied "Riesling Gelato" hanging in the window. We immediately stopped what we were doing and ventured inside. The inside is quaint and continues that Bacharach feel of a mom-and-pop shop. We were served immediately and got to taste the Riesling...oh my it tasted just like the wine. For those that have never tried, Riesling is typically a sweeter white wine, and it blends perfectly as a frozen treat. After an eventful day of sightseeing we were excited to enjoy a refreshing "kugel" of gelato at this location close to our hotel. The woman assisting us was unfriendly and appeared annoyed during the entire ordering process. We politely asked if we could sample one flavor and she rudely replied, "no," and rolled her eyes. That being said, it was a rare hot day in Germany and we were all craving something refreshing, so we decided to take our chances. I settled for one scoop of chocolate and it was disappointing and a waste of money. The chocolate was chalky, icey, and almost medicinal in flavor, unlike any "gelato" I've had before (yuck). Avoid this place.
