I love that they have seating inside and outside!! Be aware that it has no AC but they do have a big fan. The food was great!!! It's a family owned and has lots of history behind it!! I particularly loved the tostones and the fish!!! Service was slow so be mindful of that but I don't blame them most of them run on island time!!
We were accosted on the street as we passed their restaurant. The guy stuck menus of delicious food in our face, and we couldn't resist lol We ordered the fried cheese, Cesar salad, and shrimp mofongo with garlic sauce. We also got a Margarita and red sangria. The food was ok. I did not enjoy the mofongo, but the fried cheese was delicious.
We were pressed for time and in need of a place to eat. Since this place had open tables and no wait time we decided whyyy not. It definitely didn't disappoint. It was hands down one of the best places for mofongo! This was our first stop and it really ruined mofongo at other restaurants for me. There was just something about it that outshined all the other places we ordered from. I opted for the mushroom sauce and it was prefect. I liked that the steak wasn't overly cooked and was still nice and tender, doused in the mushroom sauce. It was the perfect pairing. They didn't skimp on the mushrooms either. I wish we had time to come back to this spot one more time before our trip ended. But overall I'm glad we made it out here.
Very cute small place, beside the famous umbrella street. It has indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress was fantastic, food came out quickly, very beautiful plating & tasted great. The best monfondo we had during our visit to PR. Our drinks frozen miami vice & banana & Pina colada were so good.
We were escaping a quick sun shower and stopped in. We tried the Tostones rellenos de carne/skirt steak and they were flavorful and the meat was tender. My bro in law had the piña colada which he enjoyed. I had the coconut mojito which was pretty good. The young man who served us was very attentive and such a delight. Will be back when visiting Old San Juan! Thank you!
The empanadas were huge, filling & delicious 10/10. We had veggie & shrimp. We set outside and enjoyed the overall experience. Service was good too, no issues.
On our last visit to Old San Juan, we stopped in for a light lunch. Diana provided outstanding service! Food was tasty! Loved the shrimp empanadillas!

Place is super cute, we sat outside on the cobblestone street. Our server was amazing and friendly. The mofongo was so good! The empanadas were decent, I really liked the beef one. You can also order off the menu of their sister restaurant across the street which is a mexican menu. We ordered cocktails from there which were good.
If you are looking for a real "San Juan" experience, this is it! It's not fancy and honestly it's a little rough but outside seating on a cobblestone street with authentic PR food, gotta try it. Service was great and food was delicious, 6 of us all with something different and all enjoyed. Drinks are a little pricey for the serving but I will take it given the food, the ambiance and service. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the restrooms need serious attention. Highly recommended for the food, service and outdoor ambiance!
We stumbled upon this place from just walking around after sight seeing. Since we were in a tourist area, I thought the food would not be too good, but I was proven wrong. We were seated outside instantly. It only felt right for my first meal in Puerto Rico to be mofongo so I went with the mofongo with chicharron, garlic sauce, peppers, and onions. It took a bit of time to come out, but the wait was worth it and our conversation at the table made time go by faster. While waiting we noticed the tables were a bit angled. Since they're placed right on the cobble road, it creates for an uneven surface but we fixed it by putting stones or napkins under the feet. The food looked and smelled delicious. The serving size was more than enough as it is a filling meal. The plantain was very moist and soft. The garlic sauce helped to enhance the flavors. The chicharron, although I would've wanted it to be crispier was very tasty - not to mention they were very generous with the amount they gave. The peppers and onions were soft. I took what I couldn't finish home and it tasted just as good the next day. Our waitress was nice and took good care of us. read more

The food here was incredibly flavorful, they managed to combine textures and flavors like no other, best mofongo I have had yet. The atmosphere was colorful, the tables were spaced well and comfy. There were many open windows and doors so it wasn't too hot. The staff were friendly and spoke English and Spanish. I got the steak mofongo and chicken empanadas, both were delicious. 100% will come back. read more

Excellent places to sit outside and have a drink and food. The waitress Ibis was so nice and courteous. She sat us down right away and gave us several options. We opted to sit outside to people watch and enjoy the air. We ordered some Piña coladas and some Puertorican tapas. read more

I wanted to try traditional Puerto Rican mofongo so we stopped by here, mainly because some girl told us we had to. Should've checked the reviews first, but she was insistent. The food was decent overall, but the chicken was greasy and the pork was dry. I loved the plantains and tostones but the mofongo needed some kind of sauce other than oil. The guava mojito was 10/10 though so I'd definitely recommend to try that. read more

This place was great when it came to customer service and drinks. Drew liked his dish. Which was chicken breast stuffed with Mofongo with rice and salad. While they have a large selection because they ordered from three different restaurants the tacos I ordered both beef and chicken was bland and not seasoned at all. We came here after touring old san juan. Waiters and waitresses were friendly and explained the menu well. We ordered the nachos with beef which were tasty. We also ordered the shrimp mofongo, it was our first time trying it and we enjoyed it! read more

Delicious food and AMAZING service. Luis (I think that was his name?) Was a fantastic server. My mom loved the shirt he was wearing and told him she wanted it....HE LITERALLY TOOK THE SHIRT OFF HIS BACK AND GAVE IT TO MY MOM!!! read more

You know you HAVE to go in and eat when an old lady comes out to greet you while you are pondering at the door if you should go to this restaurant or not.Our tour guide recommended this place for Paella. Six of us went in and were promptly seated. There were two hosts (one gentleman and the old lady who invited us in) who also doubled up as servers. I guess they own the place. They were friendly and chatted with us while we contemplated what to eat from the impressive menu. A variety of Latin specialties in chicken, pork, beef, fish, and vegetarian enticed us. The hosts/ servers recommended we order the paella special for two. It comes with fried plantains and two glasses of wine....for $25. Can't beat the price. We ordered two paella specials. My mother-in-law and I shared one while my sister-in-law and her husband shared the other. The paella is served in an old-looking aluminum pan. Awesome. Reminded me of eating in many street sides cafes all over Asia. This place is non-pretentious good food. No fancy serving dishes or utensils. Just good food! The paella had generous amounts of sea food....octopus, squid, shrimp, and mussels. Very well prepared and served with fried plantains. My partner and I fought for the fried plantains because he wanted mine. Oh hell naw....don't come between me and my fried plantains. My father-in-law ordered some kind of a chicken dish and my partner got a dish that was made of mashed plantains and conch. It was excellent. The flavors were outstanding. Both liked their food. A relatively cheap, great food in a nice setting with the old San Juan charm. The hosts entertained us with stories of tourists and gave some tips on where to go, what to see. Found this next to the Umbrella street. Our waiter Luis greeted us immediately and sat us down. He explained the happy hour going on & made excellent recommendations. He was soooo friendly & made us feel comfortable. All the food was bought out in a timely manner. My family & i fell in love with allll of the food. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The empanadillas was amazing!!! & they are a decent size. I had chicken breast wrapped with bacon & stuffed with mofongo with a side of rice & peas. I wish i did this review sooner so i could b more detailed but i promise u this restaurant is amazing read more
It's unfortunate that this place isn't better for what a prime location they nabbed. After exhausting ourselves with San Sebastian we were hungry and wanted a few cocktails. We saw the tables set up in the street and made our way over. Our server took our drink order, and 20 minutes later we had our bevs. I ordered a mojito and it was... odd. The mint had not been muddled, it had been blended. It was in tiny little shards all throughout the drink making it very difficult to not choke on. Mom's sangria was in a tiny champage flute and tasted like juice. Michael got a long island, arguably the only one with alcohol in it, and Lisa's pina colada was melted by the time it came to the table. We still stuck around and Michael and I split the pollo mofongo. It was served in a bowl of it's own bright orange grease. We seriously were grossed out. Thankfully we hadn't ordered any other food. For 1 mofongo, a small side salad, and a round of 5 drinks, our bill (with tip) was almost $100. Enjoy the view here... as you're walking by. read more

Authentic food i think this place beast Barrachina by pricing and food quality. It's my first time in puerto rico, i'm very stubborn to choose a place and i encountered this place by one of the waiters asking if we wanted to check the menu. We sat outside, they have inside dinning too. Around the corner is the famous place where people can find the puerto rican flag on top of the alleyway. I had the mofongo mixed with seafood. My niece and I stopped in after walking around to see the Umbrella Street and other things before jumping on a cruise ship. While we didn't try very much of the food the two things we shared was good. It was a nice ambiance and our waiter Rolondo was awesome. Very funny. It made our brief outing in PR fun. I wish we had more time to sit but the little time we had was enjoyable. read more
