This little shop is located around the corner from Casa de los Conchas and looks out on a small square where tourists and students like to sun themselves and take photos of the church and surroundings. I sat in front of it during my breaks for two weeks and never ventured inside until today.
It seems the best time to go is earlier in the day when the crowds aren't as thick. I didn't have much time and I really just wanted a bottle of water (located in a cooler at the front of the store), but I couldn't resist trying a French pastry or two.
Apparently they also sell chocolates and other sweets, but my focus was on the colorful baked goods under domes throughout the store. I chose two of the same shortbread-like biscuit with chocolate filling.
The cookies are so rich that I only ate one and saved one for later. The outside of the cookie is buttery and crumbly and the inside is smooth milk chocolate with just the right amount of sweetness.
Also, the counter person was very sweet. She forgot to charge me for my water and as I was counting out change, she gave some back to me because I (not knowing the currency very well) overpaid.
There's so much more to try here! I can't wait to return! read more
