Bistro Km 0 - Incredible dessert! Berries, merengue, and vanilla ice cream with small decaf coffee

Everything about the dinner service at Bistro Km0 was fabulous. I've found seasoning, particularly…read moresalt, can be lacking in Chilean dishes (which could explain the joke that you can easily spot a Chilean because he will always salt his food before tasting it, haha), but that was not the case on this particular evening. We arrived a bit early for dinner (after 7, but before 8 is early) but were greeted with gusto and the wine list. I'd been wanting to check this place out because who doesn't love a restaurant in which an entire four-story wall is just wine?! The wine list didn't disappoint. I had a glass of Syrah, which was divine (by dessert, I was tempted to go for a second, but opted for decaf coffee instead). We perused the menu for a long while. I will definitely be bringing friends and family here when they visit--everything looked amazing. You can even order a charcuterie tray of just meat, just cheese, or a combo. Doesn't that sound perfect with a bottle of vino?? Other group-dining options include a seafood platter consisting of oysters and crab...Yum! The hubs and I weren't super hungry, so we skipped the appetizers and went straight for the main course, though I will be back for the appetizers soon. I asked the waiter if he recommended the mushroom risotto or the fish of the day. He said if I like salmon, then the fish hands down. I love salmon, so that was easy. The hubs, as usual, went for the steak. At first he was leaning toward a dish that had steak and veggies, but the waiter said that was too bland and recommended the filet with foie gras. We also ordered a side of mushrooms. Everything arrived quickly and perfectly. I was most surprised at the level of seasoning in my dish--the butter sauce was great and even had plenty of salt to boot. The fish came with potatoes (the usual staple around here) that were not overcooked but were still soft enough to slice with a fork, though I might have preferred some green veggie instead. We both cleaned our plates and thought we might go for a stroll to get ice cream down the street. But then our waiter cleared our table and offered us the dessert menu. Why not? Everything looked incredible. The hubs was leaning toward flan but opted for the tiramisu at the behest of the waiter. I couldn't turn down the berries with merengue and vanilla ice cream. It was perfect! I think I could eat here every day, seriously. So many delicious menu options and so much wine! I'm not sure how it is for the English-speaking crowd, but I would guess they have at least one server on staff who could translate for you. Most of the menu is pretty easy to figure out, though! Enjoy!

Wasn't sure what to expect here. Menu was somewhat French but the majority of the items were a bit…read more"fusiony" or more geared for Chilean palate. I had a seared tuna salad which came with lentils and palta (avocado). The tuna was done nice and it served well but it was lacking any taste, it did come with a tiny shallow dish of dressing but it wasn't enough to flavor the salad. Portion was large, although some of my table mates ordered other dishes and I thought they were pretty measly (the coq o vin was tiny). Service was good and booze was very strong. 1 mojito nearly knocked me out. Decor is very "W Hotel" style indeed. Overall decent place but I wouldn't return for the food alone.

Terrible service. And the food was mediocre at best…read more We visited with a party of 6. 5/6 people spoke Spanish in our group. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine to share with 4 people and 2 beers for the other two. We ordered burgers, steak and I believe a pasta. After the meal we were ready to commit to more drinking and so we asked for the wine menu. After narrowing it down, we asked the server, male with a beard, light complexion with a nose ring, in Spanish "we want to buy a bottle of wine, but if you have this bottle open (since it's available by the glass) can we try it to make sure we like it before we commit to it" The server immediately rolled his eyes before turning around and beginning to walk away. One of our party said "hey, I saw that". He looked at her and walked away. Then he told our initial server about it who gave us a dirty look. He brings over the glass of wine to me, the person who didn't ask for it. And I asked for the check. He knew we were leaving because of his poor attitude. This is a restaurant that attracts many tourists. Let me tell you, don't come here. Find another place to spend your money. Not here. Never here.
