This was the very first restaurant we visited in Paris. We arrived at our hotel fresh off a 9 hour…read moreflight and as you can imagine we were starving. I checked Yelp and the reviews were great and we asked the hotel staff who also gave it rave reviews. It was around the corner from the hotel, so it was great that it was within walking distance. We arrived and put our French lessons on Youtube to use "Bonjour parlez vous anglais" which means, hello do you speak English. We got a big smile and a thank you for trying to speak French and the staff spoke to us in English. They even provided us with an English menu. I was a bit overwhelmed since I've never had a crepe before. I opened my Yelp app and found a sausage, egg and cheese crepe that looked out of this world so I showed the waiter and he said it was a great choice, which I paired with a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was great. Milky and chocolaty, very warm and not overly sweet, it was so good I ordered a second. However, the crepe was so delicious, I was amazing how soft and flaky the crust was. The cheese and egg was so tasty. The sausage was cut into small thin slices that made everything fit in your fork perfectly so you can take in all the flavor and a little bit of everything in each bite. The service was great, everyone was helpful. The restaurant ambience was very relaxed the food was excellent and affordable. 5 Star experience !

Wow, yep did not fail! The food was amazing! Service was great...it was a little overcast…read more(welcomed from the 100 degree heat today) and a breeze was starting to kick up. We wanted to sit outside (it's a French cafe) but the waiter advised it would start raining soon...he was spot on, as soon as our food arrived, it started to rain! Back to the food...talk about yum! I had the Thurien and it was rich and savory without being overpowering. The crepe was perfect, and finished with a chocolate crepe that was the best I've had in Paris! A must do and I'll very wining be back!!!

Had a delicious last meal in France tonight. Our friendly server grabbed an English menu for me…read moreand patiently helped me to navigate the choices. I ordered the creamy spinach, bacon, with a perfect sunny side up egg nestled in a crisp buckwheat crepe. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her crepe of the day with burrata, tomato slices and pesto and a mound of salad in the middle. We shared a refreshing carafe of hard cider. We were so full the we shared a dessert crepe with lemon juice and sugar. A generous dollop of whipped cream balanced the tartness perfectly. This hip little creperie was just right for a light dinner in the blazing heat.

Best. Creperie…read more Ever. * * * I like the idea of crepes, so I keep going to creperies. I eat at creperies in the United States. I have eaten in creperies in Brittany. I have been to the famous creperies in Paris near Montparnasse. I have eaten in other creperies around Paris. * * * Crepes are never bad. Crepes are generally fairly pleasant. I am kind of a sucker for a dark flour galette with any kind of meat you like, any kind of cheese you like and a fried egg on top of it all. I am a sucker for a light flour dessert crepe with whatever kind of jelly or marmalade you want to put in the middle. I am usually hungry after a meal of crepes - particularly if you go with the standard quota of one savory and one sweet. And crepes are good but not amazing. They always get a grade of B or B Plus. Never C or worse, but never A. * * * L'Elfe Assis prides itself on being an ALT-creperie. Tradition doesn't count for much here. First, they have way more on the menu than just crepes. Their meat salads are absolutely positively out of this world. At other tables, people were being served spectacular looking carnivorous appetizers that made me wish I had gotten those too. However, ultimately, a creperie has to be judged on the crepes. They have a small number of standard crepes. The rest of the "on-the-menu" crepes are combination plays you rarely see. Like bolognaise sauce, egg, cheese, and preserved onions in cider. Or spinach, quinoa, chicken, avocado, cranberries, caramelized hazelnuts and honey on the top. I actually went classical with my basic ham cheese and egg galette. Execution was simply superior. The recipe was a standard one. The taste was not at all a standard one. I sat marvelling over my crepe and wondering where crepes like this had been all my life. * * * And don't pretend that you don't really care about eating good crepes. Pretending crepes don't matter to you is just "sour crepes". * * * I will be bringing visitors to Paris here as one of the very few meals they get in the city. That tells you how much respect I have for L'Elfe Assis. Technically, L'Elfe Assis is in a suburb rather than Paris per se. Just take the 84 bus and get out here. You can use the bus ride to see some scenery ... And it will be better scenery than the Eiffel Tower.
