Nikki and the La Crosse Dance Centre taught me the intrinsic beauty of dance. I learned that dance is so much deeper than learning the correct footwork or the proper form...it's about connecting with something inside of ourselves on a deeper level and learning how to share those parts that can't be expressed with just simple words. THAT is the lifelong love of dance that is taught at LDC, and that is what I will always be grateful for from my time spent dancing through its halls. As a professional performer I take the skills and confidence with me that I learned at LDC each time I step on stage, and each time I feel grateful for the love and support of the incredible people at the heart of the La Crosse Dance Centre. read more

History

Established in 1983.

The lineage of the La Crosse Dance Centre goes back to 1930. Originally named Irene's School of Dance, then becoming Lorraine's School of Dance, later transforming into the Creative Dance Center and in 1983 becoming the dance school we know and love, the La Crosse Dance Centre.

Meet the Business Owner: Nikki B.

Nikki Balsamo trained and taught at La Crosse Dance Centre. Nikki graduated Summa cum Laude with a BFA in Dance from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1999. While there she was incredibly fortunate to have worked with such amazing instructors and choreographers as Doug Varone, Ralph Lemon, Joanie Smith and Daniel Shapiro, Erin Thompson, Zoe Sealy, Lise Houlton, Danny Buraczeski, Gail Gilbert, Bebe Miller, and Douglas Nielsen. At the U of M, Nikki performed as a member of the University Dance Theatre, and studied modern, jazz, and ballet technique, as well as dance composition, dance history, dance pedagogy, dance kinesiology, and various other courses, preparing her for a career in dance education.

I've been coming to Dragonfly since fall 2014 and it just keeps getting better. Honestly, I was looking for something productive to do with my boring workday nights, and I'm glad I tried this place. So far I've done Zumba and yoga, but my favorite classes, hands-down, are the candlelight yoga and various other yoga and movement workshops with Michelle Anthony. My daughters recital is in 2 weeks and they keep complaining to make people are up to date on payments. They havent cashed my check since March. I have yet to see the costumes we paid over $100 for and a final recital line up!! Very frustrating we will not be coming back! Go elsewhere if you. They dont respond to emails or phone calls!
