This library has a lot going both for and against it; an overall 50-50 split between the both. Pros include a large parking lot, clean restrooms, large children and family center, caring staff, and relative safety since this is in the municipal building along with both the local police precinct & fire depot. BUT; the parking lot is confusing and fenced off very oddly making it hard to even see or access from the main roadways; the bathrooms are SMALL; there are about 5 outlets for adults to charge their phones in, and you're in a police and fire complex which can be loud and stressful for a library! However, this is a small, quaint, safe spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the Westchester area around you and enter a notch-down quieter atmosphere , to focus and get some work done. ***NOT RECOMMENDED FOR HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE STUDENTS OR ANYONE WHO MAY HAVE A LEARNING DISABILITY OR ANY KIND OF DISABILITY THAT AFFECTS YOUR FOCUS/ATTENTION!!!*** Every time I've been to this library has turned out to be a horrific experience. One time there was a homeless man (who frequents often, as I see him there all the time). He has the same right to be there like anyone else.. that's not the point. I don't mind him (or even his body odor which is very strong) as long as he's quiet (this is a library). But he started singing and playing his guitar (IN THE LIBRARY!) No one (not one worker) said anything to him. So I just left to study elsewhere. Another time, there were 4 [unsupervised] loud children (ages: around 7-10) right next to the study room. They were being rude and obnoxious.. and I get it, Kids are going to be kids! But even children have to respect the fact that it's a LIBRARY!!! This is not a complaint about kids being kids. These children were yelling (YES, Like actual screaming!), cursing, physically hitting one another, and even damaging the computer (slamming the keyboard and mouse and even hitting the monitor). I let the workers know, but nothing changed. I understand, it's not their fault (they're not the parents). Again, those kids were unsupervised, the parents weren't even there. Which is not bad because I'm sure they were at work to make sure those kids stay fed. It's just unfortunate these kids were so disrespectful. It was pointless trying to study there or in the study room. I ended up leaving. Anyway, I think it's great to have a library within the community but patrons have to respect it: from children to teens to adults. We all have to understand it's a library. And while there will be noise here and there (we're human and it's inevitable), there has to remain some kind of peace in this type of environment. Most of us come to the library to read a book, study, get some homework done, educate children, print some papers, use the internet, etc. But in the end, we all must be conscious that it's a library so we should keep the noise level to a minimum. read more

A small library, and a little hard to find because it's located next to several other municipal buildings and there aren't a lot of signs. However, the employees are friendly and helpful. I will be back! read more

My favorite library!!! The have learning enrichment activities as well as a good amount of computers to use. My kids love it. Now please be mindful that the ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is because there are some middle school aged kids who talk loudly and use profanity while using the computers. They're regulars. The facility itself is beautiful. The noise level is not too bad. If one really needs to focus, I would suggest taking ear plugs. Parking is ample, and there are nice tables outside with leaf themed shades. They also have a self-checkout! YAY! You'll understand why I love it so much after you read below. THE NICE EMPLOYEES: The small Asian lady in a wheelchair, tall African-American lady with glasses, and a slender Hispanic young man are absolutely lovely. They are very patient and kind. THE "OTHER" EMPLOYEES: Some of the younger women employees are very indifferent towards the patrons. if you look shy or like you won't speak up, they raise their voice at you. I noticed this one day with a lady that spoke softly in Spanish. They are also ill-equipped to handle simple patron requests and minor incidents; they call the supervisor or manager for what seems like ALMOST EVERYTHING. There was a gentleman complaining about the cost of copies. Instead of the young lady explaining the policy herself, she replied with "let me call my supervisor." I have also heard them refuse to check-out books for people because of the self-checkout behind them. Instead of saying, "No, you have to use the self-checkout behind me," how about "Let me show you our self-checkout. It's faster and very easy to use. Please follow me." Is that so hard? Why do you act that way when your job is 50% replaced by a machine?! GOSSIP: I find it pathetic for someone who sits at the front desk and is the "go-to" person for minor library related issues to lack the ambition to take charge of a situation. I understand Spanish, and they gossip so much. If you ever want to hear any gossip sit at the computers and keep your ears open...you will know so much about their lives it's ridiculous. The older lady gossips a lot with the younger employees (one of which I have come to recognize as "eyebrows"...go and you'll know exactly who that is). She's funny. Albeit, the older lady that I am talking about does seem to be a bit more helpful when patrons need assistance with WORD or saving a document. Nonetheless, I don't care for the employees at all. I pretend they don't exist until they start gossiping. If I have a question, I am more efficient at getting what I need myself, so I don't bother wasting my time. IN SUM: Overall, I would classify this as a clean and modern library, with a side of mild incompetence (or lack of eagerness to put in any effort), and a large scoop of he said/she said drama. BRANCH MANAGER: Do something about your employees. The library is awesome, but those seat warmers called employees are not efficient, nor friendly or useful for basic information. read more

Staff is wonderful. It's a clean nice quiet place to go. Need anything and they will help you out. They really go above and beyond to help you out. They also have a deputy that checks in often so it makes the place feel safe. A+++ read more

Upon entering the library, I noticed the library was clean, quiet and in good repair. However, having to interact with the actual employees behind the information desk, ruined my experience there. The women behind the information desk were rude, short tempered and acted very irritated when I approached them with a question. read more

My six year old son Loves this place! Perfect place to get our read on..... Plus Library does a great job putting activities for kids to participate in. I been a part of some and they are very educational, all staff does a great job in keeping it fun. It has become a ritual for my family and my son seems to be enjoying it every day. They also provide great resources for anything I may need for it be a resume, internet use, or be any general info I might need, and Great air conditioning as well!! The staff here is Great! They are very knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous to everything I have experienced. They have always made me feel so welcomed with their great attitudes to be help in a polite matter. I truly believe the ladies in the front need more respect for what they do. By far the best Library I have visited. read more

I went to this library on their fist day when they opened and it was new and cozy, but small. I guess it matches the size of the community it serves. There was good selections of movies, but not that many to check out. I was guessing maybe because it was a busy first day that they ran out of movies very quickly. read more

This is a great little library! I had to stop myself with walking out with more books than I could carry. They have a great selection. I went on a Saturday and it wasn't too packed, there were still open chairs if I had wanted to read a little. The librarians were chatting at the front desk, but other than that, it was quiet. I can't believe all the bad reviews of this awesome library! They have self-checkout so you don't even have to talk to anyone (which is great for my shy ass), so I have no complaints! read more

The Vibrant staff is very helpful and although this isn't the best area but the staff is a plus.. None of them get frusturated. I myself already knew how to check out a book so I basically just asked them if they had any suggestions for something for my husband. This is not the best area but unlike most librarys it wasn't riddled with gangsters.. very highschool atmosphere. the hirl at the front desk was very helpful and from what I could tell the rest of the staff is very cordial and nice. read more

First time since they remodeled. Just happened to be in the area. Nice job with the remodeling. The staff? Needs to be revamped. Long faces and attitudes. My daughter just so happened to find a book that she liked at this location. We usually go to the Lawndale branch. I explained to the philipino lady at the front desk, it was an unexpected visit, so we don't have our library card. Can you look it up. Not an issue at Lawndale. Apparently, here it is, she felt the need with an attitude, to tell me twice, this can only be done once and next time I won't be able to. I felt as if I got a scolding in front of my daughters. My daughter noticed she made a note of the lookup in the computer. If people here think it's ok to have an attitude it's not. Get another job if you are so miserable. Just because it's a ghetto area doesn't mean you should be nasty to people. Not sure about coming to this location again. read more
