Came to Dunkirk to see the beaches which saved the British Empire in WWII but had to have some…read moremussels while I was there. I was in town at the end of November so most restaurants on the beach were closed and the town quite deserted. Thankfully this place was open. Excellent service by waiter whose English was far better than he thought. He apologized but his English was quite good. Mussels and fries came with vegetable soup and delicious French bread to soak up the wine with pepper sauce in which the mussels were served. I love spicy food so was happy for the pepper. Order them another way if you don't. There was enough food for two. I was starving after traveling all day and couldn't finish. For 19.50 Euros (about $22 at today's exchange rate) this feast was quite the bargain.

Despite that, we still had to wait for a table though many were empty, drink service was slow, water was never brought nor was the second glass of wine I ordered - they definitely need to improve service. That being said, my husband's Thai curry mussels were absolutely lush. My traditional ones were good as well, but in a very mild broth. His were in a creamy, gorgeous sauce. We had a huge bowl of frites and devoured our mussels. Big portions and a blast to eat. Would recommend - just don't go if you're in a hurry. Also, unlike everywhere else on this strip, there's no outdoor seating, so best to go on a cool night when you want to be inside anyway. It is a bit expensive, but the portions are big and it's in a big touristy area, so to be expected.
