All economic hotels in Mexico can be sketchy. I was splendidly surprised by Hotel Avenida. I wasn't…read moreexpecting very much because it was very affordable, although probably my most expensive stay of the entire 11 day trip, that's including our American chain stay in Tampico. The good inside: *Spacious bathroom and shower *Hot water *Working TV with English Channels *Great Wi-Fi Signal *Three full size beds *Two rooms - The extra room was just that, extra! My oldest took possession of it immediately, teens and their lonesome tendencies. He had his own dresser mirror which my daughter didn't care her brother didn't want her in "his room", she made a caramel mess in there. I was thankful she was nowhere near me with them sticky fingers. The good outside: *Plenty of parking & fully gated *Playground *Garden *Mural Flaws, the not so good: *Door Locks, they are the simple push button from the inside. We spent two nights here, and were gone all day. Our rooms were made when we returned and nothing was missing. *No heat or air conditioning. It was fine for us we got lucky it wasn't that cold and they do provide extra blankets. Not the soft san marcos blankets but the wool kind. I personally like wool. I don't know how hot it gets during the summer, I lived in Jalisco and we didn't need it, it was always way cold at night during the summer, but I'm cold here in Texas too. I am not the best for advice on the matter of hot and cold. Enter at your own risk.

If you're looking for a place to stay that is close to the pyramids, I highly encourage you to book your stay at Hotel Palmas. The convenience of the location to the pyramids is about a 7 minute drive. The food is also amazing! I was able to try a variety of their plates throughout my stay and enjoyed every single meal. For breakfast, they have a buffet style breakfast such as your fruits, cereal, chilaquiles, pozole, and more! This place is an oasis with so much greenery and perfect for those looking for some downtime. From relaxing at the puente del amor to having a michelada at the bar and enjoying everything the hotel has to offer. The rooms are clean and the water is perfect. Not once did I experience an issue here. The beds are comfortable and there are TV's in the rooms as well. The hotel is extremely spacious, they even have a salon that you can rent for your special occasions. They have a small playground for the little ones as well. Thank you Hotel Palmas for going above and beyond for your guests. Absolutely loved my stay and can't wait to return!
