All economic hotels in Mexico can be sketchy. I was splendidly surprised by Hotel Avenida. I wasn't expecting very much because it was very affordable, although probably my most expensive stay of the entire 11 day trip, that's including our American chain stay in Tampico.
The good inside:
*Spacious bathroom and shower
*Hot water
*Working TV with English Channels
*Great Wi-Fi Signal
*Three full size beds
*Two rooms - The extra room was just that, extra! My oldest took possession of it immediately, teens and their lonesome tendencies. He had his own dresser mirror which my daughter didn't care her brother didn't want her in "his room", she made a caramel mess in there. I was thankful she was nowhere near me with them sticky fingers.
The good outside:
*Plenty of parking & fully gated
*Playground
*Garden
*Mural
Flaws, the not so good:
*Door Locks, they are the simple push button from the inside. We spent two nights here, and were gone all day. Our rooms were made when we returned and nothing was missing.
*No heat or air conditioning. It was fine for us we got lucky it wasn't that cold and they do provide extra blankets. Not the soft san marcos blankets but the wool kind. I personally like wool. I don't know how hot it gets during the summer, I lived in Jalisco and we didn't need it, it was always way cold at night during the summer, but I'm cold here in Texas too. I am not the best for advice on the matter of hot and cold. Enter at your own risk. read more
