Scotland Neck doesn't have a ton of dine out options, so I was excited to see La Casetta after a long drive and working. Their menu has a great mix of pastas, pizza, salads, and appetizers. All of their entrees come with bread, and you have the option to add proteins and vegetables. I decided to go with the lasagna with a side of vegetables. The food took a while to come out, but it was so worth it! The lasagna had tons of flavor. Each bite you could taste the oregano, tomatoes, red pepper, and one other seasonings. One just popped after the other. The vegetables were a little over cooked and sad, so I added them to the lasagna, and that seemed to help a little bit. Minus one star for the server being a little snappy and rude when I asked about the wifi. She seemed to get a little nicer before we left, but the escalation of her attitude while I asked her questions was surprising. Being a server myself, I understand having an off day; but you can't let that mess with you too much. However, the other server that helped us at the end was a delight. Why is it that the dine-in customers can't get subs and sandwiches on Saturday but to go orders can have subs and sandwiches ? Is it because of Subs are easier and faster to make when they're to go ? I went with the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp on my last visit and got a Four Cheese pizza to go for later. I was very happy with my orders. I stopped in La Casetta with family after a visit to the nearby bird park (see review). To say Scotland Neck is a small town is an understatement but it looked like they had a decent looking downtown and within that downtown area, you will find La Casetta. There is nothing fancy about La Casetta and it is quite small. The service is prompt and the food is delicious and that is what counts the most. I had the lasagna and added a side salad for $1.50 more. The meal also comes with garlic bread. I ate every bite. The meal definitely hit the spot on a cold November day and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again! read more

We had a surprisingly scrumptious lunch here after a trip to Sylvan Heights Bird Park. Everything from the perfectly fried calamari (lightly breaded, crisp and not not clumped together) to my sister's melt in your mouth panini to my shrimp in pesto over fettuccine was top notch, fresh and homemade. The ingredients in the panini were perfectly infused in the bread, and the shrimp was ably cooked, not rubbery at all and full of flavors. Pasta was fresh and cooked al dente, and the pesto was intense. As a bonus, the server was good natured, friendly and knowledgeable. Took my family to this fine establishment, I had read the reviews and driven by a few times. I have had authentic Italian Food when I was in Germany and can say its the really some of the best food I have ever tasted. I had my doubts about La Casetta if it was really as good as the reviews. Well I ordered Veal Marsala my wife had the Chicken Marsala , I also ordered the Casseta Pizza. I really cant stress how fresh and authentic this food tasted. I have had food from all over the US and this is a true gem out in this tiny town. I cant recommend them enough based on taste and flavor, We just moved here I will make it a habit to dine-in/order at least once a week. What a wonderful surprise to find this gem of an Italian Restaurant in Scotland Neck, NC. Our family spent the day at Sylvan Heights and then visited La Casetta for an early dinner. The quality of the food was fabulous! The pesto marinated mozzarella was phenomenal. Those who ordered pizzas all commented on how great tasting the were. All the dishes tasted freshly made and authentically "Italian" (i.e. beautiful aromas, no premade sauces, crusts and bread that are divine!! I wish we had this restaurant in Raleigh. I'd totally be a regular. Definitely a second reason to make a trip out to Sylvan Heights a regular occasion. read more

We found this place because of yelp and the reviews looked great so we decided to try it. At first you have to drive in to the middle of nowhere which is creepy and a bit strange. It's small and a bit hidden. The staff was very friendly and accommodating! The food was SOOO amazing! My wife and I have been here a few times after visiting Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park. It is real deal Italian. Good pizza and pasta. I had the cheese steak (LA cassetta version). It was very tasty... It wasn't like your typical Philly cheese steak... I lived in Philly and love cheese steaks. LA cassetta cheese steak had a different sort of flavor... I think they used some sort of olive oil as flavoring. It was very good. Next time we go to the bird park we will definitely stop by. La Casetta is a great restaurant if you are only looking for friendly service. The staff greet us warmly as my wife and I enter. We are off to a good start for dinner on Friday, June 13. We love Italian food. I order fettuccine with pesto; my wife orders baked ziti. The personable waitress quickly brings us a small loaf of warm bread. We think we are going to like this place. And then, the fettuccine comes. It is swimming in a pool of green-tinted oil while the finely chopped basil sits on a mound of the noodles. i can taste only the basil-infused oil, and that only after adding salt again and again. I rarely if ever add salt to restaurant food. And where is the peccorino / parmesan cheese, garlic and pine nuts that are fundamental to pesto? I can neither see nor taste any of these. Of course, peccorino and parmesan cheeses and pine nuts are the costly ingredients of pesto so draw your own conclusions. I complained to the owner, a decidedly non-native speaker of English, who seemed to understand little of what I said although he did concede his cooks use little salt. My wife's baked ziti featured a meat sauce with little discernible taste. La Casetta greets diners warmly but its food will leave them cold, we fear. * Visited June 2014 read more

While driving the backroads of NC, I searched for a restaurant for lunch. This little gem popped up and not much else. When we entered the town of Scotland Neck, we weren't sure what to expect. The poor town has seen better days. But suddenly, there was a colorful restaurant with quite a few cars out front -- amazing! We had a fabulous lunch. The pizza was great with a nice, crusty crust. My husband's crab soup and chicken wings were amazing. And what a friendly staff. We will be back the next time we're driving the convertible on the country roads of North Carolina. read more

Stopped in with my husband and 3 year old after leaving Sylvan Heights. There was 2 servers and both were extremely friendly. We ordered a pizza and garlic knots. Garlic knots were very flavorful and it didn't taste like pure bland bread like most places. Our pizza was very cheesey and the crust was thin. Everything was wonderful and we plan to go back again. When I first ate here a few years ago, I thought I found a diamond in the ruff. So, now I have eaten here several times. Over the last year I feel like it has seriously declined. I have tried a few dishes. Some were great some were barely edible. My last two experiences were less than adequate in several aspects and has left a question in my mind on if I will be back. Experience 1: I ordered an Italian panini sandwich. They are usually delicious. Homemade bread. Tasty and decent size. The waitress brings me out a completely wrong sandwich. I am not upset. These things happen. I just asked her for the right sandwich. She leaves with the sandwich and then comes back 15 mins later with nothing. She proceeds to tell me that she has to pay for the new sandwich and do I really want another one? What am I suppose to say to that? Well of course I am hungry! That is why I came here. to eat! So I say, No I will pay for it. Just bring me the sandwich. It's not a problem. She leaves. Comes back crying. Says she has to pay for my sandwich and gives it to me. I have NEVER had a guilt trip for just wanting to eat. I was PERFECTLY fine paying for it. But, they would not allow her. I was with my family, which came to visit. I felt so horrible. I gave her an extra tip to make up for the cost of the sandwich, but why put me through that?! It's a SIMPLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Why would the restaurant dream of allowing a customer to leave feeling horrible and awkward. Experience 2: I come back in two weeks with my aunt who was passing through the area for vacation. We all order Panini's. My aunt's sandwich comes out with the wrong toppings. She heard about our last experience and decides just to eat it. My husband gets a bun, hard as a rock and barely full (at least 1/4 of the bread was dry). My husband decides this isnt exceptable and says something. The waitress is VERY nice at first. Apologizes and take it back. Then comes back out with the same sandwich. Says that is what it is suppose to look like. REALLY?? So the moral of the story? Order a Pizza or Stromboli. They are ALWAYS delicious. everything else is a crapshoot and if you are not happy... you'll stuck with it! read more
