I ordered the desayano americano which is just pancakes. Thick and delicious, then I ordered the Taco Caramelo. Had syrup in packets and that was the only hang up, but overall....delicious spot.

In case you didn't know, Sonora is beef country. Think of it as the Texas of Mexico. That said,…read morethis is an average steakhouse at best. The entrees come with a house salad, which is standard iceberg and your usual place ingredients. Tomato, onion. Nothing special. I don't even recall being served any kind of dressing or even olive oil and vinegar until we asked. The 800g Tomahawk I ordered was good, but slightly underseasoned. The vegetables were clearly frozen, which was disappointing, but not surprising. The fries were as well. The service was on point and the ambiance was pretty cool. The wine selection isn't bad. Of all the steakhouse options in Hermosillo, this one gets a lot of reviews and is clearly busy but I don't feel the need to go back.

My second time at Calafate was equally pleasant experience as the first one, a year ago. I remember…read morethe chile en nogada at that time was fantastic. This time, as an apetizer, we ordered guacamole. The default comes with more special incredients but they are served separately, for the ones hesitating crispy, fried chapulines. Continuing, I went simply for a basic steak - the ribeye was as good as can be expected from such high-quality restaurants, prepared exactly as I ordered it, medium rare, with tasty sides. The accompanying bread with slightly picante chiltepin sauce complements the plate nicely. This is a very nice restaurant, with upscale touch and view to the golf resort's green area, yet with very decent prices. Looking forward to the next time.

Calafate has a very unique menu, offering a wide array of products that include breakfast, salads, steaks, pizzas, pastas, risottos, burgers, fish and seafood. For such an ample menu, the quality of their food was surprisingly good! I ordered the kobe beef burger and it was great! I did not expect a gourmet burger in this place, but I felt like giving it a shot and the meat, caramelized onion, bun and fries were just right! This is definitely the best burger I've tried in Hermosillo so far and am confident in suggesting it to any burger-lover like myself! Apparently the pasta wasn't that good (or at least two people in my party ordered pasta and did not finish their plates), however pizzas seem to be somewhat of a house specialty, covering a substantial portion of the menu. The restaurant was fairly quiet and they had live music (saturday night): a pretty good guitar duo. Worth visiting when these guys play! Calafate offers such a broad menu that it is difficult not to find something you'll enjoy, plus it has great views of the lake & golf course and very decent prices. Definitely a place worth visiting.

We ordered the huevos con machaca, and they were so tasty! I also had a latte that was absolutely delightful. They have so many options on the menu that I honestly wanted to try everything. And the staff? Amazing! Friendly, welcoming, and a wonderful addition to the entire experience.
