My second time at Calafate was equally pleasant experience as the first one, a year ago. I remember the chile en nogada at that time was fantastic. This time, as an apetizer, we ordered guacamole. The default comes with more special incredients but they are served separately, for the ones hesitating crispy, fried chapulines. Continuing, I went simply for a basic steak - the ribeye was as good as can be expected from such high-quality restaurants, prepared exactly as I ordered it, medium rare, with tasty sides. The accompanying bread with slightly picante chiltepin sauce complements the plate nicely. Calafate is a restaurants that goes under the concept "Italo Argentine Restaurant & Bar". The venue is located within the "Los Lagos" country club, on the third floor of a small building, offering stunning views of the lake and golf course. Calafate has a very unique menu, offering a wide array of products that include breakfast, salads, steaks, pizzas, pastas, risottos, burgers, fish and seafood. For such an ample menu, the quality of their food was surprisingly good! I ordered the kobe beef burger and it was great! I did not expect a gourmet burger in this place, but I felt like giving it a shot and the meat, caramelized onion, bun and fries were just right! This is definitely the best burger I've tried in Hermosillo so far and am confident in suggesting it to any burger-lover like myself! Apparently the pasta wasn't that good (or at least two people in my party ordered pasta and did not finish their plates), however pizzas seem to be somewhat of a house specialty, covering a substantial portion of the menu. The restaurant was fairly quiet and they had live music (saturday night): a pretty good guitar duo. Worth visiting when these guys play! Calafate offers such a broad menu that it is difficult not to find something you'll enjoy, plus it has great views of the lake & golf course and very decent prices.
