Delicious food, helpful staff, and beautiful restaurant! Plenty of food to eat! Please try!read more

A Stage Set for Fire and Flavor…read more La Casa de los Platos, a massive restaurant set along a boulevard of equally grand dining halls in Guadalajara's upscale district, thrives on spectacle. Its open-air courtyard, framed by stone and saturated with color, hums with loud music and theatrical flair. The guacamole, made by hand at the table, embodies that performance. Avocados are crushed in a stone molcajete, and the spread arrives bright and tangy. Yet, it's complicated by unnecessary additions--cheese chunks and chicharrón--that crowd out the fruit's natural elegance. A mere five totopos felt stingy, though a sack of piping hot corn tortillas--generous, soft, and fragrant--rescued the moment. At a requested "level 3 of 10," the spice soared higher than expected, a jolt that overwhelmed rather than accented. The rib eye tacos with shrimp and bone marrow extended the show, grilled before us over roaring flames. They were hearty, flavorful, and undeniably filling, but also excessively oily. The flavors--shrimp's brine, marrow's depth, beef's richness--blurred into a dish trying to impress on too many fronts. It was delicious, yes, but a reminder that tacos often shine brightest in their simplicity. Later, a live mariachi band replaced the nightclub thrum, a refreshing turn toward tradition and warmth. Service was fine but forgettable, efficient enough without leaving an impression. In the end, La Casa de los Platos is a spectacle tailored for a high-heeled crowd seeking grandeur. The flavors are bold, the showmanship bigger still--but subtlety rarely takes the stage. #GuadalajaraEats #FoodCritique #LaCasaDeLosPlatos

Ready for some steakhouse cuisine when you're far from home and all they seem to have is tacos?…read moreWell you're in luck because this place has got your cravings by a covered. Just to preface I really think this place is more of a 4-star joint but they just tried so hard. But onto the goodies. Made a reservation to come in, and when we arrived my lady went up to the hostess to be let in. They told her the kitchen was closed. I was busy paying the Taxi, but when I walked up in a suit and told them I was 5 minutes early for my reservation they changed their tune. All of a sudden this place was open and the welcome mats were placed at our feet. The service felt rushed, so I recommended coming in closer to dinner time. When you can enjoy a less hurried experience. We started with calamari a salad and pork tacos. I went for the ribeye and didn't look back. My The steak was a bit overcooked as the searing went a little deep, but overall it was still juicy and pretty good. They brought out a little hat and some complimentary dessert for my birthday which was nice and even sang las mañanitas. So if your looking for some fancy decor and some lovely environment in which to enjoy your food, you'll be happy you came here

Our server and staff were friendly, attentive, welcoming and happy to answer any questions. We stared with Jamaica margaritas and were greeted by salsas and tostadas. Salsas were tasty and go from mild to hot. We ordered the tuetanos de res a la parrilla con champiñones and added escamoles to try. The tuetano was delish and the escamoles and acquired taste, but we tried them! We wrapped up with fish tacos and an oblea with cajeta which was delish. Just what we needed to wrap up the meal.

I ordered the pozole, chicken enchiladas, and an agua de jamaica, and everything was delicious. The pozole had amazing flavor and tender meat, although I personally would have loved a little more red color from the chile. The agua de jamaica was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not too tart, and the chicken enchiladas were outstanding. As someone who usually only eats pozole and enchiladas made by my mom, that's saying a lot. The restaurant was very clean, the food felt authentic, and I would absolutely come back.

The pico de gallo was very spicy and flavorful. I LOVED it. We ordered the tacos dorados. They didn't allow us to order plain carne (which is strange because that's what we usually order) so instead we ordered the picadillo. I'm not a huge fan of picadillo because since it mixes the meat with carrots and potato it tasted kind of sweet. I should've tried the bean or potato taco instead. I love how crispy the tacos are and all the toppings that came with them. I ordered the chicken enchilada as well and that was fantastic! So much flavor but it didn't have a runny sauce which i thought was interesting. The tostada with cajeta and queso was a strange combination but the flavors complemented each other perfectly. I highly recommend getting at least one if you find yourself here. The ambiance is very homey. You see a lot of large parties here and a lot of families. This is a great place to bring a group because of the fast service and delicious food.

The grilled oysters were full of umami goodness sat on top of a delicious bed of stir fry vegetables and pilaf rice. The octopus was wonderful grilled and came with a sweet sauce and a buttery sauce. I did not like the sweet sauce because I don't like sweet sauces but the butter sauce added to the charred flavor of the octopus. Service was top notch. This restaurant grounds are beautifully landscaped and even has a water feature with a koi pond. When you go inside the elegant dining rooms have a warm and classy vibe. There is even a room that looks like a reception - seating area possibly for events, or for when there is a wait to be seated. The menu is mostly seafood with many Mexican and continental classics, cold dishes like ceviche and sashimi, grilled, fried, baked, you name it... But there are also other proteins on the extensive menu such as beef. I ordered the lonja de pescado which came with salad and rice. It was excellently prepared and delicious. My friends enjoyed what they ordered as well. The service was impeccable and top-notch. For drinks I ordered a refreshing pineapple and spearmint drink (one of their aguas frescas), though they also offer soft drinks, teas, coffees, and a full bar. Just their wine list is multiple pages long. This restaurant is a chain with locations in several major cities of Mexico and is known for being among the best. This location would be appropriate for business lunches, date night, gatherings of friends and family, and large enough to handle groups and events. I will certainly remember Los Arcos next time I am in the mood for great seafood and in Mexico!
