This one is across the Plaza Galerias Mall from the Sam's Club and Walmart Galerias, on the corner of Ave. Vallarta and Ave. Rafael Sanzia in Zapopan.
To enter there is paid or validated parking. The building is very nice, and the dining room is open and warm. It's a great place to meet up with friends for a delicious meal and conversation. It is also kid-friendly with a children's menu, high chairs, etc. Vips is an ideal place for small gatherings, birthday parties, brunches, or business lunches.
Vips Restaurant is comparable to Denny's in the USA, if not a couple of notches higher, and with a distinctive Mexican flair and cuisine. They are open all day and offer an extensive menu featuring both Mexican and American favorites, breakfasts, brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, specialty coffees, shakes, etc.
They have cuts of beef, chicken, seafood (including shrimp, salmon, and more), many "antojitos mexicanos," burgers, soups, sandwiches, crepes, and so much more. Among my favorites are the enchiladas suizas, molletes, tostadas de pollo, pepitos (small toasted tortas), and their caldo Tlalpeño. After a long day, their caldo Tlalpeño is a rich hearty and flavorful chicken soup with rice, veggies, and garnished with fresh avocado, cubes of cheese, a squeeze of lime, and a dollop of chipotle. That's what I ordered this time.
My friends and I arrived 15 minutes before closing time, but we were welcomed in. We already knew what we wanted, so we ordered right away. The service was prompt and friendly. The caldo Tlalpeño was delicious. My only complaint was that it was not served very hot. Still, I enjoyed it.
Whenever I'm traveling in Mexico, I usually depend on recommendations from locals. But if I'm not sure where to go, if there is a Vips, I know it will be a good place for quality food, a friendly atmosphere, and reasonable prices.
