Just being open around 4 months, the place was recommended to me by my Cardiff friends, and was an ideal place for our large group to meet on a Saturday afternoon. The shop located on a corner with massive windows providing a good place to people watch and enjoy views outside. It is very minimalistic yet very spacious with a large array of vintage furniture which gives it an "established" feel despite being a young coffee shop. I was very impressed with that Little Man are very proud to feature at least two roasters at all times. This day I had a soy latte using coaltown espresso blend and a v60 using the wonderful James Gourmet Coffee from the very knowledgeable staff. I saw Aeropress, Chemex and V60 on offer.. I didn't get a chance to peak at the cakes or if they had a menu but I was very curious to see how they can use this huge space for events in future. Such a great Coffee shop with much potential!

I went straight for their own cold brew coffee (that comes in a lovely little bottle) which was excellent, nice and mellow, leaving me refreshed and suitably caffeinated. I'd expect the hot drinks match the quality. I wish I'd had a little more time to be able to settle in or go back, seems a good place to set up for a few hours, and when I left I wished I could take it back home with me to do just that! I suspect that if I had more of a chance to try everything they have this would get 5 stars.

This is probably my favourite bar in Cardiff bay…read more One of the reasons for this is because most people do not regard it as a bar (more a coffee shop) and it is therefore never over run unlike the bars over the other side of the bay like Salt and Terra Nova. Sitting inside is very pleasant as are the staff, especially the manager, who I think i called Hugo but to me its big selling point is its outside area. It over looks the oval basin and faces the sun. I have spent many a summer day having a few cheeky ones chatting away whilst the sun goes into the bay. So if this isn't your bag - stay away (that way there is more room for the rest of us who do).

Of course I chose the veggie options which included Garlic Mushrooms, Mediterranean vegetables and feta in oil and a good stack of pitta. It was yummy, not exactly mind blowing but really tasty. What does make this place unique is the fantastic view over the bay, so essentially that's what your paying for with your £7 glass of champagne and limited tapas menu. It was worth a visit but it's not the kind of place I'd go regularly.

Jet lag usually means copious amounts of coffee to keep me moving and I decided to walk after breakfast to Coffee #1 to get my third (don't judge) fix of the day all before noon. I walked in and immediately wished I had more time to sit and read a book or people watch because it was a nice space that wasn't too crowded and had the hum of the espresso and frothing machines and the chatter of people enjoying their mornings. I was greeted and thanked warmly by the NICEST barista ever. I mean I got a "have a wonderful day luv" as I eagerly accepted my tumeric latte. None of the air of snobbery that a good coffee can be accompanied by at some places. And that's right. TURMERIC LATTE. Is it a health trend? Probably-- but I haven't seen one on any cafe menus in the US of late so I was excited to see it this morning. It tastes like a warm and less sweet Christmas morning. Notes of ginger and cinnamon? Nutmeg? I'm not sure what other things infuse my drink but it's perfect for the dreary day. A large turmeric latte and a croissant all under 5 pounds. Not too expensive and served with the friendliest smiles. Highly recommend Coffee #1. A short walk from the Hilton if you decide to try something other than Costa in the hotel.

This place lives up to its name!…read more I have to start by saying I am not a native to Cardiff, or even Wales, but the coffee made here it amazing! Way better than most of the "same level" places I get in Los Angeles. The UK has real skills in regard to hot drinks! As a first-time tourist coming to the UK, you BET I've already tried your chain coffee houses: Costa, Cafe Nero, Cafe Ritazza, Starbucks, etc. Out of all of them, Coffee #1 is my favorite, and this location is especially nice! The decor is feels like going to a country cottage: comfy chairs, weathered wooden tables, stools, books, potted plants, etc. The space is very clean and inviting, with lots of spaces to not only enjoy your coffee but to have a moment to relax. The service at the Coffee #1's I've been to have been stellar and this location was no exception. I don't know how else to explain it better than Coffee #1's own hiring poster: "We hire personalities". I don't remember the semantics exactly but that was the idea. You can totally tell they hire friendly, smart, interesting people. I think I had a conversation with each barista and they were absolutely delightful. Oh, and the coffee. I already miss this coffee. I am normally a cappuccino gal, but Coffee #1 really turned me onto the Flat White. Coming from America, this drink isn't common here at all, but it's a new favorite of mine. Each time I've had the special Guatemala beans that are a special roast right now, and the flavor of the coffee brew from them is stellar. The flavor is fruity, rich and full bodied. Heaven in a cup. I couldn't get enough of it. Love, love, LOVE! I wish I had a Coffee #1 in Los Angeles! Any change you can open on here? ;)
