If I could give 5 stars for current services and zero for the psychologist I would. My experience with a psychologist was not great. If your child is scheduled for an evaluation with Dr. Carillo, you might want to request someone else if there is autism concerns. My child was evaluated by him, he was rude, late, and evaluation was so short. Said my child is a severely under discipline by me and under socialized. showed him many videos/ pictures of lining of toys, stimming, meltdowns, he refused to look at. I brought therapy reports and Early Intervention reports I told him how I was diagnosed late in life with ASD so there's risk. He told me my child just wants to "Rule the world" we both have Jewish last names, there is the trope about Jews ruling the word and even if he didn't know it's not culturally competent to say to anyone. He was even HELPING my child on parts of the testing so of course score was amazing!!! There was times my child did not do what Dr Carillo said in his reports. There were times my child was jumping on the table, rolling on the floor, screaming, hitting self, asking for their toys, he said it's normal. I told him my child in the store rubs clothes, licks clothes, looks at them eye level, sniffs random stuff in store, Dr. Carillo said it's normal. He asked me if my child is in therapies because I want them in therapies implying I have muchaussen by proxy. I told him how my child is diagnosed with ADHD and Dyspraxia I brought records and he said "no they don't have that" and laughed. There was a lot of other inappropriate comments made. My child was so low in many areas but he only cared about intelligence. I had never been treated so bad by a professional. Many people are autistic and also smart. I complained and my child was given a 2nd assessment by a female psychologist who was amazing. She right away could tell my child was autistic, not even level 1 but MODERATE. I am thankful the regional center heard me and awarded a 2nd appointment. After my experience with Dr. Carillo, my partner and I were going to sell a car and open a credit card or get another job if needed to pay for a neuropsych/ comprehensive evaluation at CHLA, CHOC, Irvine, a specialty autism clinic to bring back to the regional center because I KNEW my child had autism traits. The eligibility team was so kind, validated my concerns and experience. The clinical services director is doing great work with hearing families out. The director Jesse also was responsive. My child was in early intervention and my SC did not explain the scores to me or red flags, my child had many early indicators of autism. I feel guilty now looking at their low scores but am grateful now they have support. There are likely many kids Dr. Carillo missed who might be autistic. He would benefit from a lot more training and how to be neurodivergence affirming and keep up with the research. He probably can diagnose children who are more severe presenting but not ones who may be super smart, mask, or lower support needs. I feel bad for all those who may have been missed. Someone at my temples child was seen by him and said it's speech only, CHLA diagnosed her with autism and she was found eligible with CHLA neuropsych report which had diagnosis. I am very involved in parent support groups and I know that many have had poor experiences with him and many have needed reassessments, had to go through appeals or write state complaints to DDS.

My son's soccer team practices here once a week and this is the only reason we've gone to this…read morepark. Let me begin by telling you that I grew up in El Monte, so I'm no stranger to what some peope might consider "ghetto" areas, but this park is big, and its almost like 3 parks in one. On one side, you have the neatly groomed baseball diamonds accompanied by so well kept restrooms and what looks like might be a snack bar for the baseball season, right in the middle there's tennis courts, a ginormous community pool that must be open during the summer season, a beautiful playground, more restrooms and basketball courts, and on the right side of the park closer to Towne Ave is where the park goes in a different direction. Right in a little corner there by the soccer fields, there are always what I am assuming to be transients. I am not sure if they are just kicking it there or are living there, but every single practice, they are all there. Every single practice, there are multiple people on bicycles coming and going, coming and going from that little corner of the park. Drug dealing? Shady happenings? Not really sure to be honest with you, but it doesn't look right, and I don't think its very safe to allow those types of people to loiter in a park full of children playing games. IF in fact there is any type of hypodermic drug activity going on in the park, this a legitimate safety concern as the kids are falling down all over the place while playing soccer. With that being said, SO FAR, I have yet to see those individuals bother any of the children in the three weeks that we've been coming to practice here, but I watch my children like a hawk so I know that mine are okay. This park has the potential to be a 4 or 5 star recipient if it weren't for the aforementioned people. One cool thing in the park is that there is a lady with a shopping cart that sells Mexican junk food such as churros, chips, tostilocos and even corn topped with butter, mayo, cheese and chili. However, until the park can be cleaned up a little, this park is a hazard.

Major KUDOS to DYLAN, one of the amazing staff members at La Fetra. He was consistently checking the trash cans and making sure they weren't over flowing or beginning to look messy. We really appreciate how helpful he was during the whole event. The gentleman was really easy going and nice to all our guests. Not to mention, he worse his mask the ENTIRE event (set up and clean up) and stayed 6ft away at all times! You rock Dylan! Also, special thanks to SHERYL RYAN was our direct point of contact and she made the planning process easy. It was so stressful planning this even but Sheryl reassured us and answered all our questions about the venue and was very transparent with everything overall. Amenities: *Parking: there are about 5 parking spots right behind the venue (in the back facing the baseball field) that allow easy access from the cars to the venue. For example, if you have to bring decor in or other heavy things you cannot carry a long distance. This side parking made it very convenient to clean up the decorations and load cars with the gifts. Also, there is a small parking lot right across the street, just a few feet away from the center. The parking lot was able to accommodate all cars of the guests and no one really had to park on the street. As someone who dislikes street parking with a passion, this was a major plus! *The bathrooms were clean and spacious. There were plenty of stalls and no one had to wait in line (not even the ladies!) *There is a big wide window that overlooks the baseball field and the scenery is so calming and nice to look at. It makes me miss when I used to live nearby in Azusa. Now, time to convince my mom to let me have my graduation party here!
