They do gluten free Peroni and it is fab :-) Gnocchi is great too! Pizza is cheap - starts at €6.50 Lets it down: Service suffers when the restaurant gets really busy. I got the wrong pizza on one visit, had a few bites, then they brought my actual order so swapped over. Told me the first pizza was ok (eg. Gluten free), later on my stomach confirmed it wasn't. Calzone was a bit raw in the middle - eg. Uncooked dough. Better sticking with pizza. So was a bit inconsistent when I visited but if I was in Turin, I'd definitely head back for beer and pizza.

Next was a very good tuna salad as well as the vegetable spaghetti that had tasty sauces(one on each side of the pasta) Ended with the pork cheek in a Barolo reduction sauce and mashed potatoes. The wine; fantastic! Ordered a 2003 Barolo but it had turned so we went with a 2010. As they say, anything in 2010 for Italian wine is great; this was true today!

Eataly is quickly becoming an institution, not only in Italy but in few other countries in the…read moreworld (Eataly has a boutique on 5th Av. NYC, sadly no stores in the country where I live, yet). The founder had the brilliant idea to start a chain of supermarkets offering only the best products from all Italian regions (from Piedmont's hazelnuts to Sicilian cactus fruit jams). The quality is the focus and, that's the whole point of Eataly. At Eataly you can also have lunch or dine, and most of the dishes are prepared with top quality ingredients from their selection. It is quite a new experience to have your food inside a supermarket. I was not so impressed by the food they prepare, it's a bit rushed, and simple but after all Eataly is not a restaurant, so fair enough. I'd give 3 stars to the food served at the table and 7 stars to Eataly's concept. That makes a total of 5 stars.

The food is Sicilian in style so lots of seafood dishes, and it was an incredible array of delicious varieties, with large portions (we had to ask for them to skip dishes towards the end... overstuffed) The waiter was very friendly and service was top notch including the reservation and communication prior to arrival. Drinks were included and our glasses and ice bucket was kept full ALL night between the bubbly, wine, more bubbly, more wine... Emailing in advance, they were also very accommodating to my dietary restriction (gluten free), and served me double the portion of everyone else (like I said, we were STUFFED). And the price for the NYE was very reasonable at 100 euro for the 9 course seafood feast, and all the wines and coffee included. Look forward to coming back on my next stop in Turin!
