    Potato, apparently from last week.
    Andreas M.

This was the worst service and food we've had on our vacation in southern France so far. After ordering Fillet de Boeuf, medium, we waited 45 minutes. When asking the waitress if it would be any longer, she said it's "because you ordered well done". We insisted that no, we had ordered medium. Then it took another 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The meat wasn't a filet, it was at most an entrecôte, and it was folded to make it look like a filet. The vegetables were cooked way to long, and the potato looked like it was from last week. Maybe 5 to 10 tables (out of 40 to 50) were in use. Terrible, a waste of money.

A few of the workers here are ok. They tried!! The old guy who brought out the food was very rude, because we didn't get it straight with whose is whose. Never offered any salt or pepper or checked on the status of our food. We ordered medium well & it came out raw So FYI order well done if you like medium well. I sent it back & it jumped from rare to medium as you can see. They grill the steaks on charcoal here, but evidently they don't know how to gage the fire. The outside tastes bitter and the inside is raw. I will never eat here again. Paris has the best chefs. They always seem concerned about the customer and how the food taste. Some of the ppl here in Marseille are kind of rude and racist only a few are great. Good experience but not my cup of tea. I'm here thinking about Paris and Nice & wish that was where we stayed.

Absolutely phenomenal, amazing, delicious, and creative meal…read more Pros: -The food was very, very good. We ordered the big meals that come on the butcher blocks "Les Grillades." I got the beef fillet and it was extremely tender and perfectly cooked. I ordered it with the optional sauce and it made all the difference (my mouth is watering thinking about it). -The side dishes that came with my beef fillet are what really sets it apart. At first, the plate looked random. A random tomato, a random onion. Random things. But, they were cooked in a unique way- almost candied. Somehow, it all worked really well with the steak, sauce, and other sides. -They do have an English menu Cons: -Service was just ok. He said he didn't speak English, which was perfectly fine by us. We can get by with French and Google Translate. However, half-way through the dinner he starts speaking English. I just got the impression they like to bust the tourists' balls. -It's very cramped in there and seating is limited. Get a reservation.

The bruschetta was excellent, the aubergine on top well-seasoned, the bread itself crisp. The beef was cooked to perfection and served on rustic wooden boards with a lovingly presented array of sides - a baked tomato, a jacket potato, carrot mousse and crunchy greens. Can definitely and highly recommend.

A funny thing happened to me on the way to the French Riviera... We took a vacation to the south of…read moreFrance and my number one priority was bouillabaisse! It has been 30 years since the last time I visited the French coast of the Mediterranean and I have been craving this iconic dish for all that time. I tried it at a variety of places in France and in the USA, but nothing is like being in the heart of Marseilles, next to the harbor, in the open air indulging in a steaming bowl of this delicious soup. As soon as my meal arrived, I jumped right in with fork and spoon. After a couple minutes, an older lady walked up to my table and took my spoon away from me while muttering something in French... Then she picked up a crouton and began coating it with some of the aioli sauce. She put the crouton in the bowl and started coating another crouton with sauce. With a couple croutons in my bowl, she continued to dress them with some of the fish meat and the soak them in the soup. Now, I have traveled the world (90+ countries), so I am careful to observe my surroundings, reserve any judgement, and learn from my hosts. But, this was stretching me with all sorts of thoughts going through my head. Was she mentally ill and going around to people's tables and eating their food? Did I look familiar to her and she was at the wrong table? Is this a tradition in Marseilles and did I just accidentally hire someone to physically feed me? I decided to just sit and wait to see what happens. When she was finished setting my plate in a very specific pattern, she said the familiar french phrase "voila" which I understand is "there it is - you can eat now." Apparently, I was eating bouillabaisse the wrong way, and our hostess could not speak English, but wanted me to experience it the right way. The traditional French way to eat this marvelous dish is with crusty bread slices, aioli, soup and the assortment of fish meats - all in one bite. All I can say is, there is no way I can wait another 30 years to do this again. Ill be back very soon and I hope to see my new friend there for another lesson of enjoying all that southern France has to offer.
