Finally after many attempts I have found the holy grail, a Mexican restaurant in Brazil that tastes…read moreMexican. The meat was seasoned the right way the guacamole had the right kick to it, the Tostito things were excellent. The service was great. I urge you all to go try this place, I need it to stay in business, please don't tell them to Brazilianize it. Spicy is good, spicy is authentic. Too many places corrupt great products by making them too Brazilian. Take the hot wings at outback. The hottest setting they have barely registers on a scale. They would be kids wings at BWW! Keep up the great work La Lupitta and I will keep coming back (every time I am in SP - so every 2-3 weeks)

Had dinner at a Mexican place called La Lupita a couple of blocks up Lorena from the hotel. Ordered…read morethe tortillas with steak for an entree. They were playing Billy Idol's Rebel Yell. I spent the first 10 minutes trying to figure out the connection to Mexico, or Mexican food. Failed. Soon after came the Oils Beds are Burning. Same result. By the time my meal arrived the Beatles Back in the USSR was playing so I stopped looking for connections and ordered a Caipirinha. Don't know who put the mix tape together, but I like them. The tortillas were really good. Five pieces of crispy tostada covered in diced steak, guacamole, sour cream, fried onions and tomato. Very generous serve for an entree and this was enough to satisfy my appetite so I never got around to ordering a main. Ordered a nice tequila instead to finish and a shot of sangrita to go with it. I hadn't noticed they had a cocktail on the menu with the same name but luckily the waiter checked with me if this was what I wanted. I told him no, and gave him my preferred recipe; tomato juice, Tabasco and pepper which was delivered to my table in a shot glass as requested. Really good, authentic Mex at a reasonable price. And they also make a mean Caipirinha.

Last time I was in Sao Paulo, the first meal I had was a lunch at La Central, which is located on…read morethe ground floor of a landmark building in downtown Sao Paulo named Copan. The restaurant is in a corner of the building and it isn't very easy to find - it's not visible from the street. The safest way to find this place is to ask someone where it is :-) We began our meal with their fresh corn soup. It's quite good - garnished with fresh watercress and very creamy. We followed that with the sliced sirloin tacos. These don't resemble fast-food variety tacos at all; they're quite delicately seasoned and totally delicious. My friend had the fresh pasta. It was stuffed with corn, and served with a spinach sauce and creamy zucchini - a creative and completely delicious dish! Our cocktails weren't all that wonderful, but they were strong and arrived quickly; next time, I think I'll stick to beer, which is my usual preference with Mexican food anyway :-) The service was efficient and quick, and the ambiance was trendy and casual. All in all, our lunch experience was exceptional, and I heartily recommend La Central to anyone who happens to be in downtown Sao Paulo and loves good Mexican food.
