Let me go into this by saying I love these little whole in the wall type places. It's attached to a tienda. I ordered a chicken Taco Salad. It came in a crispy taco shell, with rice and beans at the bottom. What I didn't see was a heck of a lot of lettuce. I would have preferred no rice & beans, which I'll get next time. The food was good....not great, but a good lunch option near work. My co-worked has the chicken enchiladas. It looked delicious. The poster menu listed tamales, but when I asked, she said they don't have them often (darn-my fav). read more

I came to this place cause it's across the street from my job and I was so disappointed. I'd gone to a different place if I had more time to be honest. When I first walked in I noticed how dirty the place is and hardly any room to walk as it's packed with stuff all through the the store. I ordered a torta and they didn't have lengua. So I went for asada and was charged an additional $2 for the meat. So I asked when one orders a torta, which meat is included for their $8.99 price and they said none. All meat is extra depending on the meat you chose. I've never been to a place where all meats are extra cost. It's a little ridiculous to me to pay $9 buck for a torta with no meat and if I get meat then I'm really paying $12-13+ for a torta alone. It's also not posted anywhere in the store or menu. If I hadn't asked for a receipt, I wouldn't have known. Unless you're looking to get a vegetarian torta at $9 bucks, I wouldn't recommend going here. To top it off, their bread was rock hard. Not from being extra toasted, but more like from going stale. I don't plan on coming back. The owners or managers were sitting right next to where one orders and played def just to not deal with it.. read more

Heard good things about this place, but a complete disappointment at every step. Take to order was sticky, since I'm vegetarian it took a while for person to understand what we wanted. Once they took our order we went into the store general store to by something to drink at cheaper price. We come back and wait. And wait and wait. We'll twice they came and brought food but as soon as they got to us they realized it was for someone else, they didn't even leave to dry and stake looking chips with us. In addition to when I paid they almost charged me for another order. I had to go to front to ask where my food was after about 20 mins. It finally came out we left and started eating in the car. This has been my go to Mexican place for the past 2 weeks. The flavor are amazing. Just little hints of spices that develop more as you continue to eat it. Their salsa bar is full of different level of hotness. The carnitas are the best I've had in Washington. Watch out for the fat if you don't care for it. It's like thick pieces of carnitas pulled from a whole pork shoulder so you get some of the fat layer found on the top of it. It was amazing to find so many different texture in the carnitas. Their other best are pretty good too, but the carnitas is the best. Their burritos are great. It's different from other Mexican places since they put in cabbage, or it might be lettuce but it's crunchier than normal lettuce. It adds a different spin to the burritos. Customer service is hit and miss. I recommend avoiding this place before 12pm and on Monday. The person there at those times leaves much to be desire from a customer service point of view. She also tend to disappear to the retail part of the store to get ingredients. The short lady who is normal there in the afternoon and evening except Monday is quick and friendly. read more

We were visiting Vashon Island and got hungry for a good lunch. We saw several restaurants in the area but La Bonita caught our eye along with the aromatic food that was cooking. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and we sat outside at their picnic tables. We ordered Micheladas and chicken enchiladas. The plate was a good portion and well displayed. I'm giving this little place a 5!! It's not at all fancy but for a small family owned business it's awesome. We were quickly greeted and told Miguel it was our first time visiting. He went over different menu items. He was so helpful and friendly. The place isn't fancy but was clean and smelled of wonderful home cooked food. My husband had spicy pork tacos and I had the taco salad. Both items were so delicious!! The beans were so full of flavor. I love the salsa bar. This is my go-to spot for quick authentic Mexican food! When I lived in eastern WA there were always really really good taco trucks, but this is he closest thing on this side. Pretty much everything on the menu is good, but it's one of the very few places that has Birria!!! So if you're not going to a wedding or Quince or some other formal get together you can't get this fix anywhere else! Really wanted to like this place since it's an authentic Mexican place located close by. Ordered a chicken quesadilla and a carne asada torta to-go for $5.99 each. Once I got home, I was a little disappointed to see that neither of the entrees came with rice and beans. The quesadilla was just okay and made with corn tortillas but I wish I was given the option to have it made with flour tortillas. The torta wasn't anything special and lacked flavor. The other reviews seem to point out that the rice and beans are pretty good so I may stop by again sometime in the future to give it another chance. read more

I once again will start with the good. Their corn tortillas were fresh and amazing! I ordered the carne asada plate, asked for medium rare. When the meat came out, it was more like jerky than as requested. It was also really salty, when I asked if they could remake it, the lady running the cash register didn't speak English. She got help from someone else, who happily honored my request. The second time around, the meat was still over cooked, but less salty. Amazing Food! I am pretty picky about my Mexican food because I'm from California and it's hard to find and be good at the same time up here. The staff is friendly and keep the place really clean. I have ordered just about everything on the menu and it all comes out tasting excellent and is picture perfect every time. My favorite is the green chicken enchiladas. My wife likes the carnitas tacos and when you top it with their awesome spicy guacamole from the salsa bar, you got yourself a winner. Order the side of chips for while you wait, they are the best since they make them fresh to order. The store attached is pretty neat to look through and you find some cool stuff to make yourself while your in there. I am not getting paid for this and have no ties to this place, I just enjoy giving credit where it's due. It's truly a diamond in the rough with great food. You won't be dissapointed. I stopped in and ordered take-out. I got 3 carnitas tacos for $5.99. The 3 tacos came with rice and beans, so it's a pretty good deal for the price. I came to La bonita to eat some delicious tacos, and was definitely not disappointed. quite the opuesta, in fact. i tried their carne asada (steak), Birria de res (stewed, tender beef), Carnitas (delicious pork), and lengua (beef tongue). All of these were fantastic- their lengua is tender and delicious, carnitas out of this world. My favorite was the birria- tender consistency, delicious spices stewed in. The salsa bar was fantastic as well- delicious variety of mild, hot, and very hot. Try them all to discover the perfect combo. They offered Horchata (which i had- delicious), jamaica (hibiscus), and i believe tamarindo. The chips (which were complimentary) were freshly fried from homemade tortillas, and were totally delicious. ¡que asombroso! This place is close to home (for me), and close to the freeway/highway (167 and 18)- worth stopping off to eat here- best tacos in Auburn, hands down. I'll be returning as frequently as possible to indulge. Total order: tacos: 4 pollo, 4 carne asada,2 carnitas, 2 birria, 2 lengua, side of rice and beans, chips, horchata total price: less than $30 this place is a gem. a beacon of hope in an otherwise drab town. We frequent this restaurant and the accompanying market often. The food is as authentic and as delicious as it gets. The service is always good with the owner always checking to make sure everything is good. The market's meat counter has awesome El Pastor and the various quality cuts of meat for Carne Asada.They even season/marinate the meat for you so all you have to do is toss it on the grill. They also carry many meats, chicken, and fish of which we have not tried yet. On Weekends they have excellent Carnitas and at times Birria. Delicious. read more

The gal at the front glared at me when we walked in, but then changed to a smile when we walked up to order. My husband ordered the green enchiladas, the portions are very small and his tortilllas were bitter tasting. I ordered the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas. Their tortillas are homemade, but mine were also bitter tasting. The chicken fajitas part was cooked perfect but they must use table salt for seasoning which threw off the taste entirely along with more bitterness. The rice is awesome though, I wish I ordered just a big plate of rice instead. After we ate we strolled their store and it just felt like we weren't welcome there at all by any of the staff. I felt like they were prejudice or somthing towards us since we aren't of spanish decent. The menu board is written entirely in Spanish if that tells you anything. We will never return. read more

Really great food! The portions are proportionate to actual serving sizes, instead of being on a platter bigger than your head! The carne asada was well seasoned and the beans were tasty!
