We walked here from our hotel -- about a 10-minute walk -- and we arrived to find the place packed with reservations in waiting. They still managed to get us in! That's customer service! Fabio took care of us, along with another young lady whose name I did not catch. They were spectacular. I'm a Texas guy, and we eat beef for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was impressed with the Steak Florentine here. It was tender and was mildly flavored with herbs and butter. The roasted potatoes were OK. The cannellini beans in tomato sauce almost stole the show. What a wonderful combination of meaty white beans and sweet tomato sauce! And the tiramisu was divine. This place was packed on our visit, and it is no surprise, because they are very good at what they do. Still, it was comfy, and we were well taken care of.

The Owner was very pleasant and gave us some needed advice on our trip to Florence the next day. They were featuring local crease porcini mushrooms. Unfortunately, other than the vegetable…read moresoup and the Farro soup we got (which I admit were good) the entrees we got were less than satisfactory, and we won't be coming back. The wild boar pasta I ordered was way too salty (which I mentioned to one waiter and she said that it was supposed to be that way, but it was like eating straight up salt, so I don't know about that one); the fish and seafood my parents ordered were not the freshest and not flavorful at all. When another waiter came by, I mentioned this to him and he apologized (said we should have said something earlier...but they were running around and we felt out of place being tourists) and gave us free sorbets. Note: We were also billed two euro each for our napkins... I'm not sure if that's customary since I've never seen that before, but I wish it was mentioned somehow to us. Two stars for the soups and the overall accommodating servers. Otherwise I do not recommend.

When you look around, it's almost easy to believe you're on a movie set or sitting down for a rest in a highly detailed theme park area. The surroundings are just that beautiful and idealistic. The food is simple, but incredibly tasty and wonderful for sharing among friends or with a significant other. Of particular note is the focaccia with thinly-sliced ham and melted cheese, and its sister-offering with salami and cheese. I could honestly eat either of those two items every day while I'm in town. This café also offers a nice selection of local wines and other small plates and shareable items that can satisfy any appetite. The service is friendly and prompt, and I always feel well taken care of by the team. This isn't necessarily the highest-end dining choice in the village, but it's certainly one of my favorites.

They deserve a 4.5 - wish I could give half stars! We had a tasting menu, with multiple courses. Keep in mind, the people who brought us here were friends with the owner, so who knows if they have this stuff on the menu. :) The appetizer platter was my favorite, with the prosciutto over lettuce being the best of the 3. My second favorite was the ricotta filled dumplings. Not quite ravioli (too soft), but oh so tasty! Desert was just okay - I sent next to a baker who said the sweets weren't as good as hers - so maybe I was biased!
