    medallions in four pepper

I had the beef medallions in pepper sauce, and was blown away! Fair prices and excellent food. They have an English menu for anyone who needs that.

This place can get busy and packed on a weekday night. The atmosphere is open patio, so there's smoking on the front patio tables and no windows separating be inside, so it gets quite smoking inside without a breeze. Once it started raining, the rain flaps were all pulled down for protection while people continued to smoke which only contained all of it. Besides that, staff was friendly and handled large groups well. Food was quite tasty. I tried the swordfish tacos which came well seasoned with a side of freshly chopped onions, cilantro and pineapple. The tamarind margaritas were also quite good, blended and refreshing and strong enough to taste more than sugar. I'd also recommend getting a shot of 1800 don Julio to wash it all down after. the restaurant was able to arrange a taxi in the pouring rain but it took a while. Overall good place if you're a smoker or don't mind smoke.

    Chicken Cesear Salad

Cousin took me here when I was visiting Mexico. I thought it was a Spanish restaurant but the menu consisted of other types of food. Had the chicken Cesear salad and meat was a bit dry. Daughter had lasagna and my Son had the tacos and they were big. My cousin had the medallions and they looked good but didn't try. Didn't have a wow factor but the server was attentive and the food was not bad.

La Aceituna or The Olive for you Gabachos is a Restaurant located in a very peaceful area of the Colonia Polanco "$$".... The menu varies from typical Spanish tapas, to more traditional Mexican dishes with fish or meat, plenty of wines and tequila to choose from. The servers were attentive and it's one of those places that every plate is crafted beautifully, if that's your thing. They have a large outdoor terrace where the wife and I had Coffee and Pan Dulce http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-aceituna-miguel-hidalgo#rVGNWcA1DqdPI3tOW7ZMQA while we waited for our Breakfast! The Wife's choice: Huevos Rancheros - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-aceituna-miguel-hidalgo#vToba3ZhY82elggL3JsU3w Many places make things different but this is pretty classic, the corn tortilla was nicely prepared and topped with a couple of sunny side up eggs and sauce, the egg yolks were nice and runny, the sauce had a nice flavor though no heat, I liked the black beans topped with queso fresco... I wish there was more of it. My Choice: Chilaquiles con Pollo - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/la-aceituna-miguel-hidalgo#AJtr2hagCyUPFJHgTk8JoA Like many Chilaquiles they use tortilla chips as the base instead of cutting up corn tortilla, it's all good though since these are freshly made anyhow. I prefer Chilaquiles Roja VS Verde but this is what they serve, the sauces do have good flavors though no heat, plenty of shredded pechuga de pollo (aka) Chicken Breast.... again they could be a bit more liberal with the beans, Imma frijolero and need my beans! But I think it goes back to they want things to LOOK pretty! so most of the plated I'd say are smaller portioned VS in the U.S. "Just a FYI" and be prepared $$

    I. absolutely. love. this. place. This is the kind of place that treats you like family once you become regulars. They spoil you with tequila and give you the warmest of hugs every time you visit. The owner of this restaurant is extremely kind and giving, and makes you feel like a queen or king. But if you're a first time visitor, it's still a nice place to visit. It's a solid higher-end restaurant that has a great selection of Mexican and Italian dishes. The service is consistent (although I wouldn't expect Canadian/American/European 5 star treatment) and the layout of the restaurant is quite nice. The quality of food is quite good and the dishes are consistent in flavour. The atmosphere in this restaurant can range from relaxing (out on the patio with the heaters) or can be romantic on a quieter night with the candle-lit tables. They have a great selection of wines and tequila and they have delicious desserts. I really love this place and I always have a great experience every time I visit here! It's a pricier place but I think it's well worth the money.

This is the second time I come here and I think it has gotten better! Super friendly staff that knows the menu in and out. They have American classic rock and 80's music playing...good times, like being at home. The appetizers are phenomenal, they specialise in Spanish food (from Spain) and make a delicious Sangria. I highly recommend this place.

Start of with chips and salsa, plus guac.

We were served blue corn tostadas with a few different sauces - all of which were tasty, especially the spicy creamy green one. We then ordered appetizers to share. All were tasty but hands down my favorite item was the pulpito. The octopus was so tender and went perfect with the little potatoes. I also really liked the rib eye tacos which came with the best red spicy sauce and the tiradito which is a campachi Crudo. From the cebiche tasting platter (no photo), I liked the atun the most. Of course we ordered desserts as well. I actually cannot remember the names but will comment on them with the attached photos. One I' didn't get a photo of was a chocolate dessert. It was very good but rich. If you're in the neighborhood I suggest trying this spot out.

Half of the table orders were taken but not the other half. We had to keep calling the wait staff back. We received our food at different times. Someone received burnt rice as well. The manager did come over and apologize in addition to offering us a comp dessert. I did not enjoy the tres leches, it was way too sweet but the other desserts were good.

Cornmeal Gold in Polanco…read more Órale Arepa offers a polished setting in Mexico City's high-end Polanco district, and with that comes a matching price tag--nearly $50 USD for a late lunch for two. Expected for the neighborhood, but steep for what is, at heart, elevated Venezuelan street food. We ordered the arepa tasting: six warm, griddled half-arepas served like DIY fajitas, with two meats, three cheeses, and three house-made sauces (chipotle, garlic, and avocado). The format encouraged creativity, but 60% of the offerings leaned on cheeses--mostly mild, forgettable, and largely untouched on our plates. The grilled and pulled meats were solid, as were the arepa bases: crisp-edged, warm, and fragrant. The sauces helped pull it all together, though often had to do too much of the flavor work. A side of avocado and underripe tomato did little to elevate the meal. Service was attentive and kind--our server's advice not to over-order was spot on. But while the experience was pleasant, the food fell short of memorable. For the price, there simply wasn't enough depth or distinction. A generous 3 stars.

For appetizers, we ordered the tostones con guacamole (green fried plantain slices with guacamole) and tequeños de cachapa (sweet corn cheese sticks) & I am so glad about that choice!! As someone who detests bananas and plantains, the tostones were actually delicious! Not a strong banana/plantain taste and the little coleslaw + guacamole were a great touch. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the fried cheese sticks. The mix of sweet and savory was perfection! Now, onto the star of the show: the arepa llanera. WOW. Just absolutely incredible. The arepa itself was delicious and crispy, the cheese was so good, and the beef was marinated and perfectly tender. This place is a must go in CDMX!
