Fiumicino, Italy…read more "Hotel Around Fig Tree" is what the name of this hotel means, and there is a beautiful healthy fig tree center stage as you walk onto the property. The figs were small and green, just emerging during mid September, we missed their peak stage by about a month. *small but clean quaint property *comfortable beds-no frills but adequate and minimalist with modern flare *rooftop lounge with ocean views? (I missed it!) *dining on site, breakfast included with stay-more than adequate! *minutes from airport shuttle available *great shampoo, wish they sold it! *a few blocks walk to the ocean/beach DH chose this hotel as a resting place after our flight into Fiumicino, Italy. After a long flight, and a Garmin inability to find this place, we finally put in the name of the street and came right upon the hotel (print out directions prior to arriving or use google maps). The hotel also has a shuttle if needed which many guests were taking advantage of, its only minutes away from the airport. We just needed a place to rest for a night before heading north, this is located about 30 minutes from Rome City Center. We arrived on property about 8:30 in the evening and were so glad to be greeted by Stefano and offered dinner at the hotel if we were so inclined, to allow us not have to go out after a long day of travel. We dined al fresco while Stefano warmed my husbands favorite lasagna of the trip (the hotel has a chef who comes in and preps the food). Stefano also made us a mushroom pizza and garnished with fresh basil from the herb garden in the patio. We dined with a sweet Italian couple from NY who also loved the quaint feel of the property, they ordered the pizza and some meatballs and said the meatballs were good. They too, were staying for one night on the tail end of their trip, they had dropped their rental car off and would be shuttled to the airport by hotel staff for their early AM flight, The outside of the street area (street parking) is within a neighborhood which looks slightly sketch but was safe for us. There were many local teens walking around, looked to be the typical Italian city back road neighborhood. The property itself is gated. We would return to this property.

Very cosy, nice cool rooms, the Pizza is off the charts…read more.. Simply a small Hotel with great yard

Perched at the top of a small street in a super residential part of the city, this hotel has the…read moreadvantage of providing a great deal of calm and quiet in an ordinarily loud and bustling city. The hotel looks much like the other buildings in the area, large homes in pastel colors that have an air of faded glamor. The entrance is pretty well done and there are two lovely terraces where you can sip your Spritz listening to the birds chirp while surfing the web on the free Wifi connection. The rooms are less charming, but are functional and spacious. I would have preferred a less springy bed and a full-length mirror, but all in all it was a really convenient, tranquil stay in a super authentic part of town. I didn't take the bus into the center since I was being escorted around by a local (thanks Valeria I) but I hear that it's pretty conveniently located.

I remember my stay here like it was yesterday. I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for 10…read moredays in the spring of 2010. The staff was so wonderful to us. I even called a few times from the states to them to ensure we had service from the airport and just general questions. They were more then happy to assist with all of our questions and make sure we had transportation arranged. We arrived on a saturday afternoon and were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. We were promplty filled in on what was happening the next day and that we may want to avoid the city. The Rome marathon was the next day. We were impressed with the size of the room and bathroom. It was quite large and nicely furnished with a king size bed, large desk and dresser area some nice wing back chairs and plenty of light from a large window . Down stairs in the basement was the breakfast room, which every morning was filled with all sorts of interesting people and quiet an extensive breakfast. This was included in our room rate. A nice spread of fresh juices, cereals, coffee, tea, pasteries and of course Ham and Cheese. We were very close to many things and got to see normal life in Italy rather then everything touristy. It's about a 15 min bus ride to downtown Rome, but in such a nice area itself. It is situated up on a hill so to get to all the things around it, you take a rather large flight of stairs. The front desk staff was also very helpful when asked about things for day trips and what bus to take and other things we had no idea where to even begin to figure out. If I ever return as I hope to, I will certainly make it a point to stay here again.

Collectively in the last couple of years, I've stayed here a few nights. While a four star resort…read moredoes usually make you think a bit luxury... This is far from it. First impressions are great. Renovated rooms, appealing halls and common areas, beautiful grounds, parking, wifi, a real gym, tennis courts and swimming pool.... But the reality is not as nice. The beds are stiff. They give you one hard flat pillow per person. The bathrooms are spacious and modern but poorly designed. Great water pressure though! The toiletries are only bar soap, a shower cap and body wash from a wall dispenser. One large towel per person. The swimming pool opens early June despite May's average temperatures being plenty warm to go swimming. The music for the group fitness classes in the basement can be heard on the third floor. The location is quiet but there were no real curtains or way to shut out sunlight, only slotted shutters and a privacy sheer curtain. When the hotel is full, parking can be tricky as well. The breakfast is sad. Boiled eggs, Canadian bacon, frozen and thawed variety of cakes and Italian croissants, small selection of very low quality cheeses and sliced meats, sliced white bread, stale cereal, room temperature milk, yogurt & water, concentrated juices from a machine, and an all-in-one dispenser machine for coffees, hot milk, hot water etc. Overall the price and location and activities make it a great option. But if you just want a good night sleep, relaxing shower and nice breakfast I do NOT recommend it. If you take away the gym and sport amenities this is far away from being a four star hotel.
