The sausages and burgers they make their are great and the meat comes from the farm, they also make a great rang of pies and pastys and cakes you can buy via the slice or the whole cake. The coleslaw from the butchers is great and goes really well with the ham cooked on the bone that they do. They do a range of puddings in the fridge and lovely frozen fruit great for pies in the freezer. There buns are fab, the best things are the corned beef slices the country barn pastys and the mars bar slices the lemon drizzle cake is also worth a try The coffee shop is great with plenty of seats there is another level off the level where you get served the food is not too expensive and if you get corned beef slices they come with crisps and salads and sometimes a little chutney The hot chocolate from here is fab It is not far from here to druridge bay and a nice little walk to the ruined chapel

My assumption was that that was the total weight of the meat I bought. However, when I got home and weighed the meat myself, it was about 35kg! I immediately rang them to report this, and they admitted that the weight displayed was inclusive of the bone! I pointed out to them that this was false advertising, especially as I wasn't given this bone that had been included in the price I paid. They admitted that they could have done better by making it clear that the displayed weight was inclusive of the removed bone. They, however, denied that they owed me any compensation for false advertising. I just want to put this out there for other unsuspecting customers like me!

My experience is that you can eat enough yourself for your full family for a very cheap price but towards the end of the serving shift the food is either cold or well withered. The shop has really come on from what it used to be when you could buy limps of meat in packaging that was dripping in blood and it was all a rough and ready experience. Nowadays, they have a fish counter, deli, good value good quality fruit and veg etc but to me the meat is still just meat with no idea of where it is from.

My dad told me pay a visit to this butchers after buying a piece of machinery from them for our bakery and then finding out how much AWARD WINNING produce they have! I got told to get the award winning bacon and Cumberland Sausages. So, in we walk and I have never seen so many award winning signs in my life! What to choose??? Let's start with the Cumberland sausages - two kinds, both please! And then to the choice of bacon, well, how do people choose?? We opted for the black treacle cured back bacon (award winning obviously) and Adam Y chose the oak smoked back bacon. All the bacon was boasting not to leave that nasty white stuff in your pan. While we were here we picked up some award winning pies too. Pork Pie, Peppered Steak Pie and Chicken Pie. All of which looked perfect (coming from a baker, that's a HUGE compliment) and i am told they tasted just as good! The service we received whilst in the shop was second to none. Enough said. Numerous award winning butchers that offer prime cuts of meat, fantastic mince and healthy plump chickens and eggs! Wonderful bakery that makes the best breads and pastry I have tried. Wonderful vegetables and fruit stands where you get can a serious deal on great vegetables. Cheapest and most authentic pick and mix selection I have ever seen Fish monger, show repair, tea shop, cafes, clothing and boot sale, cd shops, home repair, clothing alterations ... Even a room with a scale in it! Grainger Market is magical. A must see, I consider the market a tourist attraction because of how traditional it is. The people in the booths all seem very authentic and very helpful.

They also do 30 rashers of really thick & tasty back bacon for a tenner which is the best bacon that i have ever tasted. All regular cuts of meat and steaks are available and they do some great things for barbecues like chorizo sausages, stilton burgers etc. The black pudding is really nice and they even do a black pudding beef burger!! can't reccomend enough tried bolam's recently on reccomendation of a friend and was bitterly disappointed with the quality in comparisson!
