It could be better. It could be worse. Since Uber's are still few and far between on LI (lyft doesn't event exist yet), it's a necessary evil to hit up this old school taxi service located right under the Hicksville LIRR. I've had mixed experiences with their service, but I get to where I'm going eventually and that's really all I care about (though it's hard not to compare them to NYC livery service). Recently, I used them for an early morning pickup and it went well. The driver was 5min early and I was alone in the cab. They now have a cc reader, so you can ride cash free. The main issue is leaving the LIRR. You're sort of thrown into this uber pool situation waiting for enough people to pile into a cab. You might be the first stop, you might be the third, you never know. The prices are also confusing bc there's no meter. This def leads to people having the feeling of getting ripped off, though my rides had always been the same for every ride ($7-8). Overall, they're reliable enough to get you home 24/7 and they deserve credit for that. If they weren't there... you'd be stuck. read more

called to get a quote form home in Hicksville to Hicksville Train station, $11 ordered the ride for my stepdaughter and her husband woman driver said it was $19 told her quote was for $11 she would only take $3 off and drove very erratically. I called dispatcher and he got rude said driver made a mistake and forgot to clear the screen and it was only $11 and stepdaughter gave a $4 tip, this is totally incorrect and i let him know it. he said he was trying to run a business and didn't want to discuss it anymore. I will not be using this cab company again, I guess this why Uber is taking over the need for cabs read more

The morning dispatcher at this taxi service needs to seek counciling he has"anger management issues". He talks down to you as though you are doing a disservice to him. You try to get his attention and he snaps at you for whatever reason. They are so unprofessional they pick you up and then says to you I have someone else to pick up. The drivers don,t ask they tell you and then blame it on the dispatcher. Poor mannerism. On a hold this taxi service needs to be revamp from management level to the drivers. read more

Worst experience ever. The driver arrived late and was extremely rude. He didn't help me put my big luggage in the boot and drove in a very aggressive way. When we arrived, he jumped out of the car and opened my door as if to say "get out NOW!", before I had the chance to tell him I wanted to pay with credit card. As soon as I told him, he slammed the door in my face, got inside the car, took my credit card and hit it so hard inside the CC terminal that it broke! I was on a trip from Europe and that was my main way of payment. I don't even start to tell you how many problems this created me. I took the driver's name and would like to write a complaint letter to the company, but an email address is nowhere to be found... read more

L I Yellow Cab - Total shit. - Taxis Near Me - Hicksville, New York

HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE!!! I WAS a regular customer. I called a cab last Saturday they told me 15mins...okay 25mins passed...I called wanting to make sure cab was on the way since I was meeting a friend at a certain time. I was told he is on the way... 15 more mins passed so now I have waited 55 mins...I called to check on the cab he SCREAMS at me that they are very busy and that my cab was on the way but they had to give it to someone else... WHAT?!?!?!?! I was speechless! I will NEVER use this cab service. read more

We really need negative ratings on Yelp. There must be a checkbox on the job application form that says, "I'm a rude, obnoxious, inconsiderate jerk" and if you check it, you're instantly hired. Twice a cab was supposed to pick my wife up from the train station and never showed. When I called their office the guy at the other end of the phone argued with me and then hung up on me. Not only does their service reach new lows but they park at the train station like they own it. Every night when I go to the station to pick up my wife, they are parked all over the lot with no concern whatsoever for actual parking spots. They're too lazy to park like a normal human and instead like to park horizontal and block two handicap spaces. I'll ride my bicycle before I call this place. read more

I've considered posting several times but refrained. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. First, I waited 55 minutes for a cab going from Plaiview to the Hicksville train station. I called at 4:10 hoping to make the 4:48, and told the dispatch so. He told me they don't guarantee trains. Well, listen to your hold message, because it sure sounds like you do. I called dispatch after waiting 30 minutes and was told the cab would be there "any minute." Fast forward 20 minutes, still waiting, so I call again and am told 5 minutes. No cab after 5 minutes, so I call again. He'll be there any minute says dispatch. Yea, you told me that 25 minutes ago too. Dispatch was nasty. You may not like that I called to make sure someone was actually coming, but a separate incident had me concerned. Chatted with the cab driver and he said he was only told to get me 7 minutes (more or less) before he arrived. On Tuesday I also waited an hour. When I called after 40 minutes the dispatcher insisted I had the wrong number because he had no slip with my address. Turns out the dispatcher who originally took my call didn't pass it along when he left his shift. Yellow Cab may be the cheapest, but their customer service is lacking. If you're looking for actual service and satisfaction, look elsewhere. read more

I have truly never felt so UNSAFE in a taxi. The driver, John, in Cab #65 truly seemed like he may have been having a psychotic break. He was kept yelling and was speeding, slamming on his breaks, and swerving in and out of cars. I was sincerely afraid for my life during what should have been a simple 15 minute cab ride from Hicksville train station. I highly advise everyone to stay away from this cab company. read more

My destination was a mile away on North Broadway from Hicksville RR. I got stuffed into a van with 3 other people. I was the third to get dropped off about 20 minutes later. I was already running late to a company meeting. I didn't expect to add another 20 minutes. Cost? $12. My destination was literally a mile away. That is a total rip-off. I took an Uber in the afternoon. Total cost for an Uber? $7. NEVER AGAIN. read more

If you are looking to be on time, from the train do not depend on them- I waited for 10+ minutes while these guys keep you waiting while they try to pack the cab full at your expense and literally feed the pigeons. I kid you not. While I was waiting one of the dispatchers went outside and feed the pigeons for 10 minutes, while 2 of their cars came by looking for passengers and were dispatched else where. A f$&king joke. I would recommend calling another car service in advance or waiting for some of the other cabs that come by the station looking for passengers. read more

I have no idea what can be WORSE than this cab company. I am not surprised all other reviewers want to give these guys get 0 stars. No, they deserve negative stars. I use their service often enough for them to remember where I am going each time and the dispatcher just hung up on me because I called to cancel (not even 5 min after making the reservation). ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE and VERY RUDE. It is so sad that this is the only company I can use around here. They are VERY UNRELIABLE so make sure you call them at least 40 min. before the time you want to it arrive. I know, taxis are meant for your convenience but it's clearly not the case with this company. Or better yet, DON'T USE THEM AT ALL. They fluctuate their price so often that I need to bring extra cash with all the time. read more

Beyond horrible experience. I called up at 5pm sharp and I asked for a cab to be at my location in Levittown at 6pm and to drive me and my girlfriend to Nassau Colosseum, the woman who answered actually seemed to be very nice and said no problem they will be there 6pm sharp and I also asked while I was on the phone if there was a possibility they could give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost, she said $22 for two people, which I did not think was a bad price. I wait until 6:10pm and call again to make sure my taxi was on its way. The man who answered said that they did not have my taxi in the system and they will have one there within 15 mins, although annoyed I said Okay no problem and waited. I call back at 6:25 and ask where is my taxi and the guy said, Its going to be another 10 mins, and at this point I was very angry and I hung up. We then found another means of transportation in this time. I then called up again and said I wanted to cancel the taxi, the man yelled at me saying I was being ridiculous and already had a cab on its way, I told him "Your 45 mins late, and I need to be somewhere at a certain time, im not being ridiculous." He then hung up. This is the worst, most un-professional business I have ever had to deal with. Please do not call up this service. read more

I'm thinking about calling the police on my driver. It was that bad. The driver had no idea what he was doing. He yelled at us multiple times to call the cab number in order to find out the fare. He treated us like we were annoying him. Your job is to drive me to a destination. That's it. He ran a bunch of stop signs and one of the passengers had to beg him to stop. Avoid this company if you literally want to live. Not only should they not be in service, they should be shut down. I'm not from the Hicksville area and the driver is yelling at me to find out where he is supposed to go. I can't even fathom how terrible the company is. The only reason they are still in business is because people need to go places and have no other choice when they get off the train. read more

SCAMMERS!!! They quote you a lower price in the office and the driver asks for a higher price. Good thing we hadn't left the station when I confirmed the fare with the driver. $13 to travel 2 miles? I'd rather walk!!! I went back into the office and got an attitude. The manager wouldn't honor his original price and stated he made a mistake. Well, he sure did because they lost all future business from me. read more

Gave it another try but didn't get any better. I was promised 5 to 20min window for the car. Waited 40min for the cab and ended up just canceling it. They cram multiple passengers in to one car so the unlucky last person to be picked up has to wait for the car for unreasonable amount of time. Can't agree more with other reviews about the dispacher. He was rude as he can be. To make the one star yelp made me give worthy, getting a service from the hicksville station to another destination is alright. Yes, still crammed with multiple passengers and yes you still gotta go drop all of them off if you're the last person to be dropped off, but at least you don't have to waste 40 plus minutes of your valuable time waiting for the car to show up. So there. One star. read more

Worst service I've ever received from a taxi service. They not only had a taxi miss my house twice but they insisted on arguing with me as if it was my fault they had incompetent drivers. We got a ride from Hicksville train station. It was a good price we were quoted and both the gentleman we booked it from and the driver were both very nice and polite. We shared the cab with a stranger which was odd, and the cab itself had seen better days. But as service goes it was polite and punctual, and that's all that really matters. read more

Then he tells me go check my house for cash I should care about him and carry cash so I go into house to get cash from my daughter he didn't like I wasn't fast enough comes to my door and knocks he's lucky I didn't swing lastly the dispatcher Scott couldn't care less of complaint the whole company should be revamped horrible horrible horrible I wanted to give negative zero star rating wouldn't allow me too read more

I wish i could give 0 stars. Anyways... they s*** in their service.. You call them and forget about it. You will never be able to make it to the station at all, for your once in a blue moon train. This whole service is a joke.. they will not book your cab until its like 1 hour before you actually want the cab and than they say he is on his way.. See that's why people call you before so that he can be there on time not on his way......Don't waste your time and mind on these people... you can walk faster. read more

do not use this cab company. first when you call for a cab, "dispatcher" john is rude arrogant, pos. he yells and screams at you when you ask questions in regards to their supposed taxi service. he harasses customers on a daily, constant basis. he will scream at the other taxi drivers. verbal abuse shouldn't be tolerated . this cab company should be put out of business. or at least fire the weakest links. read more

Absolutely terrible. I wish there was a way to put them out of business. The dispatcher was so rude and yelled at me asking when I'll be ready when I asked what time they can be here. I told him 10 minutes and he sternly said ok be outside in 10 minutes. I was outside in 7. Waited 15 minutes past the pick up time. Attempted calling them 4 times before anyone picked up. I ask where my cab is and he says it's on his way. I said I need to cancel since I already missed the train going to the city. He yells at me saying well it is traffic what do you expect. I was so irritated at how rude he was that I started cursing and he just hung up the phone on me. Jerks! I can't believe they are still operating. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars after the way I was treated last night. The man working the desk decided to laugh at me when I went in asking when I would receive a taxi home. Walked down the block to the other taxi place even though it's a little more expensive. Will never use this place again. read more

If I could give them a 0 or 1/2 star, I would. This has to be one of the worst taxi companies I've ever had the displeasure of using. The dispatcher is always rude, argumentative and lacks the customer service qualities needed for this type of position-what happened to the customer is always right? How can a taxi company refuse to pick you up at a specific time? I informed the dispatcher I wouldn't be ready for 15 minutes so he sent a taxi to pick me up in less than 5 minutes. He then told the taxi driver to leave since I wasn't ready but never sent another taxi to pick me up and then he cancelled my request completely. It took 15 minutes for another driver to arrive after I called back again. When I got in the car, he said he had been sitting at the train station for 20 minutes waiting for a job. I will never use them again. read more

Got in a yellow cab at Hicksville station to Syosset, having missed the hourly local train. Driver was friendly and knew how to get to my destination without gps. Had no issues. I would do it again and recommend their taxi service. I am not local, so appreciated their polite attitude. The driver properly called in the ride and got the price from the dispatcher. This is not black car service but a taxi--so 4 stars. read more

They are very rude, never on time and are extremely arrogant. I don't understand how they are still in business. There have been numerous occasions where they are nasty over the phone, hang up on you because they seem irritated when they say the cab will be here in a certain amount of time and then they don't come. I have never actually posted a review before for a place I didn't like, because I know people have their bad days, and i don't like to harp on the negative. But today it is at least 5 degrees below freezing, it's dark out, and there's ice on the ground. When I got to the LL Yellow Cab station they could not quote me when the next cab would come. I did not want to be dishonest or waste the drivers time, so I said I was thinking I might try to get an Uber if it was closer and apologized. I then asked if he knew the name of the street corner I was at, because I'm from Queens and not Long Island. This was the first time I've ever been to Hicksville. He literally laughed and said he wouldn't tell me the name of the street if I was planning to take an Uber. I thought he was kidding, and asked again... Apparently he was serious. So I tripped through the ice and snow to the corner and stood there in the dark attempting to find a street sign on my own. I work with people all day long, I do understand that people have rough days, but in a million years I would never have said something like this to someone. This was the first person I had ever spoken to and Hicksville, and if I ever come back to this town or anywhere in Long Island I don't care how long I have to wait, I will not be taking this car service. read more
