Great meal at this Michelin started restaurant. We joined the lunch service on a weekend in August…read moreand enjoyed the special seafood menu served every August. Seated outside in the lovely courtyard which only had space for 5 or 6 tables, it was a lovely shaded environment. There was a lot of noise coming in from the square outside but this wasn't a problem. Service was lovely with the head chef himself taking orders and serving several dishes. The food itself was very good! Dessert was especially good. The wine pairing was also very nice.

Service was great. With my tiny amount of french and their English there were no language issues. Menu was great - Foie Gras and the duck were amazing. Others had dessert, but I was stuffed. There are a lot of great restaurants in Lourmarin, but this is at the top of the stack. This was our last meal before we left the next day so it was a great finale. It is proper formal high dining with everything you would expect from a one star Michelin restaurant. For those not familiar with haute cuisine, do not expect to know what you are eating without explanation. Think floral like presentations with foam and gel and carefully crafted plates. If you are looking for a hearty steak and frites or whole chicken, go to a bistrot.

Before I review, I just have to say...I am stunned that this establishment is not on Yelp yet! This…read moreplace is phenomenal! Reine Sammut knows exactly how to feed (and love) her patrons and I cannot recommend her restaurant more highly. If ever in the Luberon region, please make a visit to this 'contemporary'-Provencal-garden gem. As you can tell already, my review is less for the room (which was simple, cozy and down-to-earth) and more for the extraordinary experience we had on their dining terrace. To give a bit of background, my husband and I were on the road for a couple weeks in Provence already and while everywhere we dined was delicious, I regretfully must admit that all our 3 hour long fine dining meals did begin to blend into each other...it was until our meal at Auberge la Feniere that something stood out again and both the experience and food were distinct. We both did the summer discovery tasting menu and this is exactly what we had: -Foie gras citron cream mousse-foam -Tomato tartar of the garden, bacon "bellota bellota" like a pan con tomato -Bush ravioli, coco cream sparkling and pistou -Sea Bass steam with coriander, tagliatelles of courgettes violin and stuffed flowers (or) -Roasted young pigeon, with garlic confit, crusty giblets and fried girolle mushrooms -Selection of fresh and mature cheeses from Mr Rostand -White peach syrup, honey tile and verbena ice-cream Everything was incredible but our absolute favorite dish of the entire meal and 3 week trip was the tomato tartar appetizer with bellota ham in a crisp shell. I would go back JUST for that, and I'm pretty sure we will go back! Anyway, it was well worth the money (85 euro pp for the discovery menu) and time to enjoy such a gourmet meal here and to truly have something to celebrate about.

A new coffee house and restaurant open all day non-stop for brunch and lunch.. Situated in one of the most beautiful, hilltop villages in the Luberon is a new concept restaurant & coffee house by famous Chef Andrew Goldsby - owner of the former Michelin recommended gastronomic restaurant 'La Petite Cave' which he closed this season to search for a more balanced lifestyle and return to basics in his cuisine. His new 'Le Petit Café', only 40 meters up the road from his former restaurant is a refreshing new option for brunch or lunch in the Luberon. His dishes are inspired by market fare as well as what's growing in the village garden - tended to by the local shepherd. Sounds quaint which it is, but the plates are also sophisticated while being simple and sans pretension. Certainly not a tourist trap... Finally a place to have lunch outside the classic French lunch hour ! At the uncommon hour of 3 pm I enjoyed a Mediterranean wrap full of goodies - locally made tapenade, grilled peppers, feta cheese served with the most delicious home-made French fries. Beautiful tapas was enjoyed by the couple next to us. Lunch was only 14 € with a coca cola in a glass bottle...a bargain for such tasty food. Colorful, Van Goghisque art work for sale on the wall by a local artist caught my eye as well as prints by a photographer who has captured dramatic images from Saignon and the surrounding countryside. There's much more going on in this unspoilt village than meets the eye... The affordable menu is presented on ardoise black boards and food preparation in the open kitchen can be admired from the counter or dining area. A restaurant respecting the creation of artisanal food creation and the beauty of this unique region! May they get the attention and credit they deserve...
