Looking to make some postcard-perfect memories in Provence? Les Vins au Vert is a good place to start. Right in the center of Banon, one of Haute Provence's many quaint hilltop villages, Les Vins au Vert has prime sidewalk seating (just 2 tables, so come before lunchtime), a robust cellar of natural local wines, and an indulgent menu of French staples: cheese plates, charcuterie, and larger plates. By noon, the indoor cellar seating is packed full and buzzing with locals. We sat outside before their lunchtime rush, sipped some refreshing wines that the owner picked for us (he looked at me and said "aha...blanc pour madame!" and came pack with a zippy glass of Viognier). He also taught me some new French wine vocabulary, noting that "frais" (fresh) is more polite than "acide" (acidic). I envy the folks who can stroll here from home, and sit here all afternoon.
