Once I entered the restaurant, the decor and the welcoming owners/staff made me felt great about my choice. The decorations inside was adorable and the more I explored (ie. went to the restroom) the more pleasantly surprised I was at how cute the place was. Being the typical tourist that I was, not able to speak too much French, I was very glad that the menu was in both French and English, and that the restaurant staff can understand English. I end up getting an order of escargot, some moules frites (mussels and fries), and had my moules cooked in fresh tomato, onions and spices. The escargots weren't the best i've ever had, but they still classify as pretty yummy goodness on my list. The main course portion was pretty big but the moules were delicious and I cleaned the pot out. The fries were pretty decent as well. For dessert, I had a cold souffle with strawberries, shaved chocolate and fruit sauce. It was a light and refreshing finish to the dinner I've had and definitely put a smile on my face.

People were singing in French and listening to good music. The food was delicious and the serving was a good sized portion. My shrimp salad had so many different flavors and the garlic dressing was so tasty. If you are staying here on vacation and want to eat great food in a fun atmosphere then I highly recommend. We muddle through with French as best we can, and find that we are always helped out when we get stuck! In fact, I have even written to the restaurant with a query, and received a lovely letter back! The service is exemplary, the food nicely presented and cooked simply but perfectly. The ambience of the restaurant makes it a pleasant oasis in a surprisingly busy little town, and our visit to La Bigoudene is always the highlight of our day trip. It is also ideally situated at the Ferry terminal end of town, adjacent to the P&O bus stop. We cannot wait until our next visit, so keep up the good work. Bon appetit!
