We both started with their elderflower aperitif--a wonderful cocktail that was citrusy and not too floral. For dinner, we thought that we were ordering a Caesar salad as a starter to share, but it came out with the main courses, and it was huge and had chicken on it and tasted nothing like Caesar, so we are *finally* learning our lesson that the Danes are clueless when it comes to this particular cuisine. We throw our hands up! The pork schnitzel was very good, nice and crispy, and we enjoyed the peas on the side, but why was the horseradish like a tangle of shredded noodles on top? Confusing! The moules frites our daughter ordered was massive, so that ended up being a waste of money because only a third of them got eaten. The accompanying fries had a tangy seasoning on them that we all loved. One of us also got the stjerneskud, a kind of smørrebrød, because it had to be done once. Imagine a massive piece of bread covered in a bernaise kind of sauce and now it's topped with smoked salmon, a thousand tiny shrimp, a grilled AND steamed plaice (a kind of whitefish). The thing was insane, hence the aforementioned overordering. Service is nice enough. The bill was sky high, which is our main reservation about this place, but it's our own fault at the end of the day for letting our eyes be bigger than our stomachs. We wouldn't necessarily recommend Mefisto at the end of day because we didn't Capital L Love it, but you can certainly have a nice meal here. 3.5 stars rounding up.

The 3 course menu tasted delicious, and also offered an excellent value proposition :-) The ambiance was warm, quiet, and charming; the service was totally on-point while being completely helpful and friendly. We really wanted to try their dessert as well, but had to give up because we were so full by the time we finished our main dishes. My husband had a glass of white wine with his meal, and I ordered some juice. I was a bit surprised when my juice came in in a huge pitcher (which, I believe, costs more than a glass). It'd have been nice if the server had asked me of this choice. In total: 2 X 2-course meal & a glass of white wine & a pitcher of juice = 660 kr.
