This place is a centuries old castle that's been modernized. There is a lot of history, and really old art pieces and artifacts throughout the castle, so it's also a bit of a museum. However, to me it feels a bit run down, but maybe that's part of the charm.
It was definitely not as luxurious as I imagined or hoped it would be. I'm a traveler, and during my life I've stayed in accommodations ranging from hostels to the most luxurious hotels in the world. With it being a castle, I envisioned a giant plush bed with lots of pillows and an ornate, beautiful marble bathroom. I got neither. Though it was all very clean, so no complaints in that area.
We were in Champagne during harvest, and this area is more farmland than vineyard and, so it really smelled like a farm. And the flies were also abuzz. This is obviously not the hotels fault, but just something to be weary of if you come during the beginning of fall.
We only stayed one night, and that was good enough for me. We had a nice time at the spa and great dinner at the restaurant, which are both separately reviewed. Our only disappointment, is that we missed out on breakfast, but there is no way we could eat again after the dinner.
