Some of the staff gave me the feel they would rather not be there working. I was really hoping for that magic experience both at the hotel and restaurant, but also just from being in Chimay, but left a bit underwhelmed; the food at the restaurant was not special at all (I ordered several items). The tour is made of basically a walking in your with the past and history of Chimay. It's a small museum, but I enjoyed it. It shows pictures of the operations and the history of what happened with the beer. The one thing I wished was that the abbey had tours or at least a glass/plastic wall so people can see it happening. But again, I understand that the privacy is important. After the small tour, you can go and eat at the diner/cafe. They have cheeses that Chimay makes along with beers. I enjoyed it, but the visit to the abbey I thought was a little disappointing. But at least I can say that it is the oldest brewery that I have ever been to!

Which is a bit disappointing as this is one of our favorite Trappist beer.
