Excellent menu del dia on Sunday. Great seafood in this neighborhood, and this restaurant is typical. No wifi, but you won't want to be using it here. read more

A small eatery, with a few tables and chairs inside as well as out, with a heavy wood open beam ceiling and stone wall interior. We were greeted walking in and told to take a seat. We grabbed a table by the interior wall. Our servers were both professional, not overly friendly or fast but they did make sure we had what we needed. Seafood, and local produce are whats on the menu here. A concise menu with a focus on local and sustainable cuisine. Crispy local fish appetizer is where we started, small fish of various sizes lightly battered and fried crisp with head on. Crunchy little treats, like eating chips but little fishes. Very good and a nice start. Salad of mixed greens with smoked cod fish was our next tapa, a nice mixture of greens with a light dressing of evoo and tender chunks of smoked cod. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. It was light, fresh and quite tasty. Enough to share as well. Creamy rice with clams, squid and a savory red pepper sauce, was our final entree. A large cast iron pot of local seafood with tender rice, a generous portion and was more than enough between the three of us. We could not finish it all. A small eatery, up inside the walls of old Tarraco. With good local cuisine, and definitely worth the effort to find. 4 Stars a solid meal 01225

The restaurant was surprisingly empty, which resulted in excellent service from attentive waiters, who worked very hard to translate things for us. After bread, we got an extra amuse bouche, a fancy duck confit spring roll. For the first course, we were surprised by the ravioli de bacalao, which was not actually ravioli but a salad wrapped in fish tartare. The razor clam dish was delicious as well. The second course consisted of a pork and fish dish, both wonderful. For dessert, hubby ordered the pina colada cake. It tasted great but was overshadowed by the amazing couland de chocolate. I was impressed by the quality of the food and I can only imagine how busy this place gets during the peak season.

Very unethical establishment and they yell at patrons if you do not like what they serve. In my case, I ordered gas water however they brought me flat water instead & a raw tuna ceviche, which was only mediocre at best. The restaurant is located in the seaside neighborhood of El Serrallo amidst several other seafood spots. The waiters in bow ties (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=x54MvAQc7xUGsq6Fkp8cEQ) contrasted with the kids running around in the bar area near the entrance way. I asked the waiter what I should order and he recommended the Romescada (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=SRMiVG2wNPwqXgEPXCxEOw), a romesco sauce based seafood stew. Romesco sauce originated in Tarragona so I went with it. The g/f ordered the Lenguado (Sole http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=E6eZRfgrhQCDhCpCgM-fiw) and we started with Baby Artichokes with Shrimp (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=rTHR1fcPJl5RGWCqU6RsLA) and Steamed Mussels (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=ywN8PlIxaMIl724DppxleA). The service was very attentive, perhaps because we came early and were, for awhile, the only patrons. The waiters made a little show of first bringing out the main dishes (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=Pe4UuYLUihPZUv4XiOI0oA http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=ZiP25i6hAH8-YYf1kQrRdw) and then replating my stew (which I didn't understand http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=x54MvAQc7xUGsq6Fkp8cEQ) and deboning the g/f's fish (which I thought was very thoughtful & more helpful than my stew re-plate http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/urmOTY9r_C9YLU-oIFC9ug?select=ZagBGrg19dG2g8ZsPje0hQ) The dishes were all pretty large portions (didn't finish the appetizers) and everything was very well prepared. The Romescada reminded me of San Francisco Cioppino with it's seafood variety and had clams, mussels, and shrimp along with several types of fish. It's red/orange color is more from peppers than tomato and had a nice nutty flavor. The g/f's sole was also nicely cooked and seasoned. A bit on the pricey side with entrees in the mid-20 to 30 Euro range, but we thought it was worth it for what we ate.
