You can get various cut of beef, a rack of lamb, even some pre marinated meat, all you need to do is to put in the oven or your bbq. Their beef is from small family run farms in PEI where the cattle are fed primary on grass fed with no added hormones and minimum antibiotic. All the beef are then aged for a minimum of 28 days. Their free run chicken is from a small family run operation in Sharon, ON and their pork is also locally raised. They also have a various of marinade and condiments for sale. And if you are into mustard, Stuart Carroll does have their own brand: Maple, British Bitter Beer, Dijon and Wasabi Lime. The smell of BBQ meat!! I am ready!

Next on my "go to" list is the Guiness Steak pies. So easy to make and very flavourful. They also have chicken pot pies, steak and kidney pies and a few others. They were unable to get what I wanted and when I reminded them of our previous conversations where I told them that five individual haggis's were not acceptable because I needed a single haggis as a part of a Funeral ceremony they simply pulled up my past sale data and used the credit card information to process an unauthorized transaction?? Who does that? My family is trying to get ready for my Mother's Funeral this Saturday. I have no haggis, and a charge on my card. So on top of all of the arrangements that I've been dealing with this week I had to reach out to MasterCard and cancel my card for fear of further unauthorized transactions. Stealing people's copyrighted material is completely disrespectful, however putting through unauthorized charges while a family is trying to get ready for a funeral is despicable. As a consumer please keep in mind If a merchant tries to push a charge through just because they have your card on file from the past, but there was no new agreement or order, it's not valid, and you're absolutely within your rights to dispute the charge and demand a reversal. My advice...pay cash if you are shopping at The Meat Merchant but honestly the steaks at Costco are better and cheaper, and if you need haggis go to McComish's Wee British Shoppe in Orillia. I have a lot of halal only eating friends, and this changes things drastically for dinner at mine. The quality of meat is excellent and i find the prices extremely reasonable actually. I've also picked up 4 of their pies (if you get three, you get an extra one free - yes please), and all were really good, especially the chicken pot pie (pie crust on the bottom and on the top). Today however I decided that nothing would stop me I needed to learn if the rumour about Japanese wagu was true. The concept is that in the west we raise meat butcher it and sell it as is. In Japan they decided to selectively breed the meat to incorporate a more streamlined fatty deposit that not only brings flavour but tenderness. I knew I was going to pay a pretty penny. I opted out of the tenderloin and decided on a thin strip of sirloin steak as shown in the picture. At $56 it's the single most expensive piece of meat I've ever purchased. Make no mistake about it I knew I was getting f*cked but but I somehow didn't mind it when I paid. I didn't know if the owner was a man or woman so I'm not sure where the bulk of my money was going, whether it was to the store of Japan. Either way I was definitely fin-domed for those who know the crude terminally. The only question is: was it worth it? Well people say you should panfry for best flavour but I microwave over a Japanese curry csauce I got. I apologize if I dishonored you all through my cooking method. Anyhow the meat ended up being more tender and there was a more flavourful fatty profile but I did not but it didn't really melt in my mouth as reviews say (again microwave sorry). I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5. I feel like any decent marbled fatty steak or ribeye could come close but the Wagu was special indeed, so Famu gets 5 stars

We have tried a few places in and around Markham that sell Wagyu, but non of them blew us away. I decided to do a random search for Japanese Butchers and Wagyu and came across FãMu Inc. which is listed as "The only Japanese Butcher in Ontario". FãMu is the Japanese pronunciation of farm. They are all about animals that are pasture or free-run, raised without chemicals, antibiotics, hormones or animal bi-products. Located in J Town, an indoor/outdoor mall of Japanese businesses located On Steeles Avenue E near Woodbine in Markham. (LOVED the shops at J Town!!). We have had several great experiences with this shop since our first visit 9 months ago. Everyone in shop is very helpful and knowledgeable about all of the cuts they sell. Our first try of FãMu we purchased the A5 Wagyu Miyazaki Striploin. BBQ'd on the grill for 2 min on each side (as per the butchers recommendation), the cuts were bbq'd to perfection and just melted in our mouths. I have never eaten a steak anywhere that was so perfectly marbled and so tender. I would say it was easily one of the best steaks I have ever had! The next would be the Australian Wagyu Ribeye we picked up (15oz cuts). A little on the pricey side, but WOW, you get what you pay for and no better way to indulge in a perfect steak bbq. Some of the cuts of Japanese Wagyu they sell are: Kobe - A5 Kuromame Nagi - A5 Furano - A5 Miyazaki (Miyazakigyu)- A5 Hokkaido (Tokachi) - A5 Various Regions Of Japan - A4 Plus ~ Australian Wagyu, US Wagyu, Chicken, Berkshire Pork, Wagyu burgers and Wagyu slices for Sukiyaki Hot Pots and more! During 2 of our recent visits we also tried their Double Wagyu Beef Bowl. Thinly sliced pieces of Wagyu seasoned with in store made terriyaki/soy sauce over a bed of steamed rice. Small portion for the cost, but filling and THE most tender beef bowl you will ever try! Not sure about which cut to try, visit their website and you can get detailed info on each cut, you can also stop in and ask or order online. I've typically always been a fan of the spaducci sticks from from Vincentina meats but over the years, I've noticed that the size and quality have been decreasing while the price has been increasing. Got a lead on Bonanza who truly is a meat boutique, every possible kind of meat, cut, animal, that you could want in every form (form whole lamb/rabbit) all the way down to fileted, portioned, chopped, etc. Basically if you can dream it... Bonanza can do it! The spaducci we got were easily double the size what I'm used to, and the lamb we perfectly marbled so I know when I eat these in about 6 hours they are going to be juicy, hot and delicious! It's a bit of a stretch to find the place, it's located off of Jevlan which you can access off of a side street that connects to Weston road just north of Hwy 7! I grilled them this evening and they turned out flavourful and yummy. I haven't grilled boneless chicken thigh meat but I have a feeling it's going to turn out well. I will certainly be back for some more marinated chicken wings. It's important to note that the butcher confirmed that their chicken is hormone- and antibiotic-free. Personally, I refuse to buy chicken that's full of hormones and antibiotics. I usually buy either organic chicken that's widely available or from the Mennonites. The latter one is more difficult to find in the GTA. I know for a fact that Mario's Meats at 3650 Langstaff Rd in Woodbridge carries chicken from the Mennonites.
