We called L&L on Sunday and they were out the next day to provide us an estimate. The price was good so we moved forward, and they completed the job just two days later. They did a great job removing 3 large pines in difficult places, close to our home and behind a fence. Matt also reached out to offer to trim up another tree which was too close to our roof, so we had that done as well. He sent pictures of the completed job and made sure we were satisfied with everything. They even removed my birdhouses from the tree and set them aside, which was really thoughtful. The leader had us numerous times to check how the job was proceeding and what else could be done to make the satisfactory. Clean up was great. They leaned it against my house, a liability in and of itself if it were to fall and hit someone, and the wind knocked it down breaking off the solar light. The flags, one Navy from my recently deceased WWII father, were dragging on the ground in the rain and mud. They also moved three cement statues, one several hundred pounds, and in the process, broke one. When I contacted the company, the woman on the phone slung insults. Police and BBB reports were filed however be forewarned, the are not recognized by the Better Business Bureau. A small claims court case is pending. read more

Several trees downed from winter storms. L & L quoted a full day of service for $5500 and wrote on estimate removal of specific tree they left behind. They left by 2:30 pm and left a whole tree trunk cut up in large pieces. I asked when they would be back to removed the tree trunk pieces and they replied "the next time we are out" "their truck was full". I called 3 times for them to come back out. Now they want $300 more to remove the large pieces left behind. FYI - They also asked for payment in two checks - one for $3,000 to Matt Eaton and one for $2500 to L & L read more

L & L removed a 50-foot maple tree that was growing about 20 feet from our house and they did a great job. Their crew of about 6 guys got right to it, with one guy in the tree, and the rest on the ground cutting wood and dragging branches to the chipper. They brought no equipment onto our lawn, so there was no damage at all. They took the tree down, cleaned up and were on their way in an hour. We were amazed at how efficient they were. They also left us some firewood as we requested, helped us stack it, and even volunteered to remove an old tree stump from our garden. Their price was very reasonable - lowest of the three estimates that we obtained. We would highly recommend them. read more

They dropped a load of what they considered to be "seasoned firewood" in my driveway. The wood was rotted, looked like it had come from the bottom of a swamp and had termite tunnels and most likely termites. The pile is believed to contain Dutch Elm diseased wood which must be disposed of properly according to local ordinances, so dumping it in my driveway was a violation. I am asking that the company return and remove what they dumped from my driveway. read more

Despite the poor reviews and past lawsuits, I decided to support a local business. They were friendly and quick. The issue is they didn't finish the job. Despite being paid in full I am still trying to get them to complete the job. They continue to make promises and giving their word to complete the job but they never show up to complete it. While the people seem nice they don't live up to their promises or commitment. If you use them...don't pay until it is exactly the way it was agreed to. read more

these people don't supervise their workers. The workers do a poor job. I was watching the other day when they finally showed up and they did half of my driveway and went to the next property and did the same. They don't show up to trim the shrubs, and when they do it seams they can't cut straight. I called 4 times so far and no one has had the curtesy of calling me back. Of all the companies I've done business with since purchasing my home, these guys have been the most pleasant and accommodating thus far. They removed three cottonwoods and a huge white pine, all of which were in close proximity to the house, power lines and other structures and did so flawlessly. They also cut down other smaller and unsightly trees without charging me. They cut to the lengths I required for my stove and left me the mulch for spring. After the job, which was completed in only a few hours, they cleaned my property and the roadway well. The best part? They came in way under budget and cheaper than anyone else I called, by far. Punctual, great price, friendly, professional and quick; they did a great job. They cleaned up our whole yard in 45 minutes. Everything we asked for they did and did with a smile. They came to remove a large maple broken branch due to wind storm. I also asked them to trim a small tree in the front yard by our driveway, it was not doing well and removing some dead branches may help right? Instead of a trim they cut the tree in half! It is the WORST looking job I have ever seen! When they came to pick up the check the next morning I gave it to the woman who promised she would get someone out of have them call me that day. They cashed the check immediately and oh yeah. 13 phone calls later they still haven't come to look at the horrible tree work. That was 6 weeks ago. As another reviewer has done, I'm posting this review as a neighbor of a customer. They came in to cut down a tree which belongs to the property behind our house and our next door neighbor's house. They are parked in my next door neighbor's driveway, which they did get permission to do (I asked). The only access to the tree is through my next door neighbor's yard, not the neighbors that own the tree. While working, they came in and out of our backyard without asking, trampled our flower bed, and moved my outdoor furniture to gain access to another of my neighbor's (the customer's) tree that they were trimming. They had several pieces of equipment, tools, gas cans and ropes on our property. When my husband asked what they were doing, they asked if we wanted our tree cut down. Uhm, no? One nice thing they did was offer to take some branches from our front yard that we had just trimmed from our own trees earlier this week. The neighbor's tree they were cutting down was not even completely removed, there is still a 20 foot tall trunk just standing there (which, by the way, did not look unhealthy at all). My next door neighbor's yard, where the truck and chipper were parked is completely full of wood chips and saw dust. They will have to completely clean up all the wood chips before they can mow again. Overall, I am not happy with this company's lack of professionalism and concern for others' property. Lenny and Lenny, took a down payment for firewood and never delivered. They were hired for 10 face cord of wood of which I got maybe 1, with large chunks over 18" across and 30" way to large for a fireplace or wood stove. They left beer containers in my yard and harassed my neighbors for cash, making up all sorts of excuses why they needed money on the spot. They constantly lied about when they would fulfill their contract. I tried for months to work something out however Lenny is dishonest and only wants to get some quick cash. read more

Had these guys come out ti my house to give me an estimate on mulching my property. They showed up, said they'd do it and I hired them. That's the extent of it. After the initial visit, no call no show over two weeks later. I've called their office several times and get voicemail every time. Not a single return call. I was pissed about this (still am), but after reading other reviews I'm glad these unprofessional dirtballs never showed. Sounds like I'm way better off w/out them. Lonnie is a smooth talker, but once they get their money, you won't ever hear from them again. I had four trees removed and they broke the bottom two steps on my deck, they told me they would have someone out to fix them by the end of the day. Almost a month later, five phone calls and four different appointments, which they never called and never showed up for one appointment, the steps were never fixed and I had to pay to have them fixed myself. I've never used L&L for tree or landscaping service, but they have the contract to plow our very small neighborhood and several driveways, including my own, and I would recommend finding another - any other - company to handle this service. They may be good landscapers, but I'm not sure they know which end of the plow is which. For the amount of money they charge for a "season" of snow plowing, I expected expected that my street and driveway would be plowed as needed, not just once every 24 hours. (This morning, they apparently plowed in the middle of a blizzard at 8:00AM. I had to take their word for it; it didn't look any different when I came home at 5:00PM as it did when I left at 6:00AM. The snow didn't actually stop coming down until about 3:00PM.) This isn't the first time this has happened. My car has actually been stuck in the snow at the bottom of my drive because it was supposedly plowed earlier in the day. Once I was even told that they weren't aware of any snow in the area, which left me speechless because their address is less than a mile from my own. I guess the six-to-eight inches of snow that accumulated in our neighborhood from the previous night's snowstorm must have been an optical illusion. I let that one slide, but I'm going to work very hard to convince my HA to drop their contract for next year. The money would be better spent on a service that works. Bottom line? Try them out for landscape work if there's no one else to use (I really can't comment on that part of the business), but if the choice is between them and your own snow shovel, pick the shovel and get to work. At the very least you'll be sure your driveway was even plowed. read more

they took down 3 maples for me on april 3rd. one of the pieces they cut (that was tied off) crashed into my siding, leaving a hole in the siding and the insulation board under it. they were aware of it and said they'd send their siding guy by to repair it, so I kept back part of the payment. I called every couple of weeks. The lady in the office came out and took pictures inside and out. It ripped a screen and the bedroom wall inside has a crack about 3' long where it hit. Another time the owner wanted to look at it and he was in the hospital. then he wanted to come out with another siding guy and still never showed. Two months later, I had someone else fix the siding. I'll fix the screen and see what I can do about the wall next time I paint the bedroom. The ground was not completely dry as it had rained a day or two before and they left huge ruts and holes all over. read more

We didn't actually use them, but given the impact that they put on our yard, I felt I was more than qualified to write a review. My neighbor hired them to cut down a dead tree that was near our property border. Positive: They cut the tree down. After talking with my neighbor, they had told him that they'd do the stump grinding, but the stump was sticking up four inches out of the ground. They cut the tree down and had it fall onto our yard, which I figured would probably be the case, and normally wouldn't have a problem with. However, the heavy tree left several big divots in our yard, very close to a kids sandbox...divots just deep and wide enough to present a tripping hazard, especially for our young kids. They should have filled them in to even out the ground, but didn't bother. Speaking of the sandbox, they also took no precautions to protect it and it got hit by the tree. It wasn't destroyed but the plastic top was buckled in. We were able to push it out and it appears that there isn't any damage, but even so, leaving it in that condition shows a complete lack of professionalism. Finally, since they had so many people they had multiple cars and trucks parked along the street, some in front of my house. Again, not a problem, but when they left, one of the vechiles left a dinner size oil stain on the street in front of my house. When I called the company to complain, she asked if it was the street or my driveway, and when I said it was the street, she seemed very unconcerned. I believe that a company like this should not only do the work for which they are hired, but they should leave the surrounding areas as they found them. L&L completely failed in the second regard. Initially seemed like a great company. Lonnie came out two times over two years. First experience was great. Did the job I expected and cleaned up appropriately. This year called them again and they came out while I was at work. Realized that they had missed a bunch of bushes and didnt clean up after one tree that they trimmed when I got home and called Lonnie to let him know. Lonnie told me they would be out the following day because they had another job near me and they would finish up. He told me, "dont touch anything, we will fix it" and was apologetic. Now its been over two weeks and after 4 calls to the office it is clear they have no intent to come out and finish the job. Great customer service upfront but clearly no genuine care or concern for providing a quality service and taking care of their customers, even with the owner of the companies promise to rectify a mistake on their part. When the owner of the company cant stay true to his word it isnt hard to believe some of the other reviews posted on this company. Avoid! read more

Can't express how upset I am with L & L Tree Service in Lake Orion. Tried to get a quote finalized for 2 upper branches to be removed and arrange for a time and date for work to be done. This turned into an unannounced, unauthorized hack job where they just showed up this morning and took out half a tree + another branch on an adjacent tree - and left the logs for us to clean up. The crew chief couldn't understand why I was upset! This is the second unscrupulous tree company we've experienced. Be careful who you deal with. read more

Horrible service. The only time anyone showed up was to give an estimate. The company would cancel or just not show up all. After no one showed up on the 4th scheduled appointment I finally had to terminate the job. The estimate was fair, however I could never get them out to complete the job. Did an ok job in March, but left one tree undone. We have called about 8 times to have them return and each time we are given a day but they are always a no-show! I had L & L Tree Service trim several trees last fall (and was robbed). I had an issue with 2 limbs that I thought should also be trimmed off and was told by Jr. that, no, they should stay. This spring, those two limbs look terrible - hanging over my driveway brushing the top of my van. I called them back and was treated very rudely by one of the sales guys. I asked him to do the right thing and take the 5 minutes it would take to cut these branches. He said "fine - for $100". I was shocked. Thats when the owner, Jenkins Sr., jumped out of the truck to find out what was going on. He told the other guy to call it in, free of charge, to be done the next morning (they are in my neighborhood all the time) Sr. apologized and told me the referrals I would give are more important to him than these two branches and shook my hand. That was almost two months ago and I haven't seen them since. Several phone calls later, and still nothing. I've left several phone calls for Sr. himself, with no call back. If this is how they do business, I can't believe they are still around. There are a lot of tree services out there - do yourself a favor and call every one of them and ignore L & L like they have ignored me. They just lost a lot of business in Keatington! read more
