His response was "no, we don't like English people". At first I thought he was kidding and laughed it off, but it became very apparent he was not kidding. He went on to tell us that we should speak French and then he said "he doesn't have time for this" as he had other customers inside. I was beside myself with how rude this man was and honestly he put an absolute negative affect on my feelings about Nice and the French people in general. The French have a bad reputation for being rude and while I've been there several times and 99% of people are perfectly nice, this was the most appalling behavior from any restaurant employee I've ever encountered. Needless to say, we took our business down the street to the most lovely restaurant named Leedy's. They were quite friendly there and we had the most amazing lunch and bottle of wine. So, if you're "English" please avoid this restaurant and take your business elsewhere!

The large staff worked in harmony in presenting our food. We decided to order entrées rather than the tasting menu but will come back for the tasting menu. We had the Seabass and the pigeon. We also shared the zucchini flowers. The chef supplied us with many complimentary appetizers and desserts. We had the strawberries in two ways for dessert and I have to say that all the food was unbelievable. This is an expensive restaurant but worth it.

Le Paradis Marin is located in one of the typical stretches of restaurants that would seem like the biggest tourist trap in the newly renovated port of St Laurent du Var, in the vicinity of Nice. I don't want to go on about all the signs that say don't come near these places, but I have to admit: I was sooo wrong. The setting is pleasant, reception by host very warm and friendly, no problem substituting when ordering, the food was awesome, all of it, we all shared a little bit. The service was outstanding. My wife had grilled Sole that was better than any she's ever had. She said it felt like the fish had just jumped out of the water an hour ago!!!! The desserts were out of this world, and there was a big variety. All that and a great Rosé, around €50 per person. A phenomenal value. Sorry"le Paradis Marin" for pre- judging.
