We had dinner there twice and not because there aren't plenty of good options in Hyères. The first time, I had perfectly prepared and seasoned canneloni. I had stopped eating ravioli in restaurants years ago because I invariably found the pasta tasteless and doughy and the filling unable to compete with that. But because our first dinner was so delicious, I decided to give ravioli another try the second night and it was delightfully light, perfectly al dante, with a filling that was complemented by the pasta, not smothered by it. My husband's daube, a Provençal braised beef with a little bit of gravy and carrots over pasta, was sublime. It had the delicious strong presence of herbes d'Provence that is typical in the region. He ate that dish at both of our dinners there. But it's not just the food that is perfect. Jo, the host and server, is kind and gentle and pays attention to his guests and to detail. Anna, who came out of the kitchen both times we were there, possibly because we were the last diners of the evening, is also kind and gracious. We were with our toddler and, without being asked, Jo brought out cushions so she could sit higher in the chair. When I expressed concern about her possibly spilling food (tomato sauce, in particular) on the cushion, Jo quickly told me not to worry about it. And, on top of all that, the interior walls of the restaurant are covered with Jo's beautiful paintings (which, unfortunately for us, are not for sale). We highly recommend Chez Anna and Jo and look forward to returning!

Shrimp and curry dishes. The salads were amazing. Great wine selection. We were also served cocktails and little appetizers. Nice staff. Bilingual. The next night was with a table for 10. It was quiet and relaxing. The starters and mains are all beautifully presented and are full of flavour. I opted for the vegetarian dish of glass noodles and edamame beans. Fabulous. The desert cheese plate was a favorite of the entire table. The view of the sea is very tranquil.

We enjoyed the random storm and the new friends, but were a little surprised at the burger, as it is not what we usually have in the US. More like a loosely formed patty, served very rare. Very good, but a bit off putting if not expected. The star of the show was the charcuterie board, delicious and massive. We split it and the burger and still couldn't finish it all. A fun place that is relaxed and clearly has several regulars. While they do close in the evening, there is no rush to finish and leave, as people stay for hours after drinking, smoking and enjoying the evening together.
