Both of my girls got up on their boards their very first time surfing. They didn't even want to come in when the lesson was over even though it was pouring down rain. Nick was patient, encouraging, and just a really good time to be around. He made the whole experience easy and memorable for our family and took great care of us the entire session. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great surf lesson, especially with kids. We'd absolutely do it again.

The lesson could not have been better. Aloha brothers provides wetsuits and boards as part of the lesson. The instructor, Taylor, was so kind and patient and made the lesson so fun that neither kid wanted to take a break during the 90-minute session. To put that into perspective, we had to walk three blocks with surfboards, and they required three breaks to make it through that experience. Both boys ended up being able to stand on the board and could not wait for their next lesson. My son struggles to keep doing something if it's difficult, but thanks to Taylor's encouragement, he kept failing and kept getting back up and trying again. Communication with Nick, the owner, was fantastic. The price was great for a two-person private lesson (check the website for the latest pricing).

I can't recommend No Rush Surf School enough! Claudio is an incredible instructor, patient,…read moreknowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about surfing. I've dreamed of learning for years but always felt nervous, and he instantly put me at ease. He broke down safety and technique in such a clear, simple way that my sister and I were popping up on the board right from the start! To make it even more unforgettable, we saw dolphins while surfing. Honestly, it was better than any high and better than any other experience I've ever had. Pure magic. If you've ever wanted to surf, this is the place. Whether you're a total beginner or just looking to sharpen your skills, don't wait, book a lesson. You'll be riding waves (and making memories) faster than you think.

Booked last minute and they fit my kid in in 8.30 am. Had perfect fitting size 8 O'Neil wetsuit. Good txt comm. Takes Zelle and Venmo. Shea was our instructor and my kid got up on 1st run and got up lots of times during the 90 min lesson. Very patient. Shea also is experienced helping autistic kids. They say youngest age thry can start is a 4 yr old kid who can swim. They'll keep someone that young safe in the shallow waves. Also provided board for my "too young for lesson kid" so he could pretend to partake in sand part of lesson. He had a blast! Sand lesson is quick, most time spent in water learning in real-time so you get your money's worth. Compared to other lessons from others I saw going on on beach at same time... 1) the level of personal attention was top notch 2) the student to teacher ratio was better at Dawn Patrol 3) Better instruction 4) better results! 5) more fun 6) Dawn Patrol has a lot of repeat clients so that tells you something! Other details to be aware 1) meet at their Ford Bronco in the parking lot 2) They got t-shirts if you want souvenir 3) staff is fully vaccinated! In short highly recommend. Support local biz and 2 local brothers vs monolith faceless giant corporation!

It was beginner lesson. Luke kept it simple and easy. Had a good time out there. Keep it up guysread more

Are you ready to experience surfing and the glorious ocean with confidence, connection and joy?…read more Are you ready to learn how to navigate the ocean and how to interpret and forecast optimal weather conditions? Are you ready to be in a community of surfers at all levels? Surfing with the guidance of Jonathon has transformed my experience. His teaching style of step by step instruction and curriculum has shifted how I interpret the ocean, how my body changes positions for an optimal ride and helped me see and feel the importance of timing. I highly recommend learning to surf with the guidance of Jonathan ‍

There are a lot of things I could say about Jonathan's demeanor, his teaching style, his knowledge…read moreabout the ocean and about surfing, and his persistence about fundamentals ("move your feet back"). Indeed, all of these things are important and he excels at them. But the thing that sets Jonathan apart from other instructors, and the reason you should stop reading this review and schedule a lesson right now, is his capacity to deal with the trepidation that makes people not want to surf in the first place. He understands that the ocean is a scary place for many who want to learn. He understands that if this fear is reinforced in the beginning of the process it's likely they'll never learn. And he genuinely wants people to overcome their fear and develop the confidence to surf on their own. If you're thinking about learning surf and you're in LA, Jonathan is who you want to learn from.

So I wanted to keep an extra set of eyes on him and ended up hanging around out of site so we wouldn't be distracted by me, but close by so I would feel comfortable knowing how he'd respond to the instructors. I think they were fine with me being even closer but I stayed a little further away so my child would really focus on them. Also, it was his first surf lesson so I didn't want to miss it! What I saw had me grinning the entire time. When my son wanted to push the limits and travel a little too far out where I was ready to run in after him, instructors were pulling the kids back. They had their eyes on him. And there was a dedicated staff member standing on the beach keeping their eyes on the entire group whenever they were in the water. And it was amazing to see my kid stand up on the board for the first time ever. And the way he jumped and kept going - it was clear he was SO happy the entire time. Not my kid, but there was clearly a little one who was not comfortable with the waves. I don't know the full story, but what I saw was an instructor holding that child the ENTIRE camp in the water. That kid got to be as close to the water as they were comfortable, the instructors never sat her aside to play in the sand, they were clearly trying to get her comfortable and making sure she had some water experience. Props to you all for investing in every child at every level. Props to the instructors, we hope to return if schedules allow this summer. The only request I have is to put kids in bright orange/yellow/green rash guards instead of the blue ones. It was easy to see the instructors in the orange, but I would feel better if we could REALLY see the kids from the sand in water safe colors. That's it - THANK YOU again for a great day. My son really loved it and was so proud of what he accomplished in that short time with you.
